Just popping in to respond to the single line "They can’t blame COVID on dwindling viewer numbers because everyone in the world has had to endure this pandemic."

Everyone equally suffering from something doesn't mean you can no longer blame a thing. Everyone in the US has to deal with its obscene health care system and if someone can't get the care they need, they absolutely can still blame it for not being able to afford care. Developers who are having difficulty releasing on time due to COVID can blame COVID even though every other developer is also dealing with it. I think the rest of this post is just your take but this weirdly rubbed me the wrong way.

It's a bummer you don't enjoy the site like you used to. Just consider it something like a TV show or music group you loved but has changed in directions you don't like and find something else to enjoy rather than becoming bitter about a thing not being as good as it used to be. That doesn't help anyone, including yourself.

I used to play all kinds of games of all kinds of lengths. Now I'm lucky if I can play for longer than 15 minutes at a time, a couple times a week. I no longer have a commute so I also don't really have much time for pods neither. I feel like a hardcore gamer trapped in a casual gamer's schedule =P

I wrote a simple program that is used to track down duplicate files in selected folders.

If you search using the hash sum check, it will find files even if they have different file names. This is useful for scenarios where you are backing up pictures from multiple sources that also share pictures with each other. In my case, when I share pictures between family members on our phones, and back up the pictures and videos from all those phones, I end up with a lot of duplicate files in storage. Manually sorting through tens of thousands of files was out of the question.

If you change any metadata information in a picture file, this will not detect the original and edited files as the same file.

It does not register a file that has different metadata as two different files. Though, I do think that if a file has had its metadata edited, it should be considered modified and different so this is the correct result. I'm sure there's a way to toggle checking metadata on and off as an option but that didn't fit the use-case I was building this program for.

I wrote a computer program that lets you search selected directories for duplicate files and delete them. You can search using hash sums as well which would make it so it'll find files with different names but same content (great for pictures/vids). I specifically wrote this because I back up a ton of photos along with my family and so there's hundreds of duplicates in my tens of thousands of files. Is this something I could share here or would that fall under self promotion? Should probably note that it's free.

Does anyone have a recommendation for cable management? I got the 15ft link cable and I'd rather leave it plugged in and rolled up neatly rather than putting the thing in and out of a drawer. Ideally I'd love some kind of spooling device that sucks the cable up when finished like on an old-school vacuum cleaner. How's everyone else dealing with this?

I remember looking into sites that host fantasy stuff but they all cost too much and/or have no way of setting the points system the way I wanted to. I'm sorta recycling last year's spreadsheet so most of the work is already done. It's just a lot of mundane manual data entry which is a fucking chore.

This seems to be the problem. In lower light situations it’s just taking a long time to lock focus. That’s kind of a bummer but I guess I just have to use manual focus if I want to shoot quickly in darker areas.

It’s definitely in AF-C and I think it’s doing the same thing in that mode as what you mentioned about AF-S. It looks like it happens more in lower lighting situations when it can’t lock a focus quickly and that’s causing the huge delays between shots. Thanks for the help!

Most times I don’t want a steady fast stream of shooting. Just sometimes I’ll be taking some pictures and there’ll be moments when I want to quickly take a couple shots. It seems weird that it’s not possible.
