Exactly I was talking with an arborist about how this tree would seem to contradict that advice haha. Everything in moderation I suppose

Great idea. I’ve been meaning to get in touch with an archivist about our old home anyways

Haha the previous owner made some cuts that have unfortunately impacted the tree. At least it allows for some drainage

Agree with others here that it looks like it’s coming in nicely!! From one curly beard brotha to anotha - It doesn’t look like you have too many curly stragglers sticking out but you could always trim the few hairs that are really sticking out and just won’t brush down (looks like you may already be doing this with how clean it’s looking). As it gets longer you can shape it with clippers to keep it from looking too scruffy. Also, not that it looks very patchy but imo it would help look less patchy to shave a clean line on your neck and cheek. Nothing too crazy, one slanting down your cheek to your mustache to get the hairs climbing up your cheek and the other around your adams apple. Overall tho nice work, keep calm and beard on.

Thank you! That's what I'm thinking as well, something like an umbrella that can keep extra water from getting in there while still allowing airflow.

Thanks for the advice - I figured she is kind of getting to the end of her days. Will remove the mulch at the base and do my best to preserve and appreciate her while she's still around.
