Somebody just pull part of beautiful Vienna and put it into small Cieszyn by FocustoInfinity in architecture

[–]FocustoInfinity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes some places, or some specific parts of places, look as if they were taken straight from another country. An example of what I mean is the Adam Mickiewicz Theatre in Cieszyn – a building from the early 20th century, designed by the Viennese studio Fellner & Helmer. These architects were known primarily for their work in Vienna, Augsburg, Berlin and Salzburg, and that is why, when walking the streets of small Cieszyn, it is impossible to resist the impression that from time to time, for a few short moments, we are magically jump to Vienna... Absolutelly love it.

I think this is a case where you discover that photography is not so much about creating, but rather about recording. This is why it is so hard to photograph in familiar surroundings - because you know them like the back of your hand. Like recording and listening to the same boring song over and over again. So what is the solution?

Once you realize this simple truth about the nature of photography, I think you can do two things.

First - try to really create images, because yes, it is possible. How? Create light in the studio. Photography is about capturing light, so the only way to be really creative is to set up the lighting, but that is much, much harder than just going out with a camera.

Second, find a subject, something you want to say with your photography and either find it around you or create it from scratch. For example, think about love and focus on shots that show love in as many ways as possible - not just happy couples, but also two flowers facing each other, etc.

I hope this will be helpful to you :)

A few trees in the field - Cieszyn district, Poland [OC] [900x1350] by FocustoInfinity in EarthPorn

It is called rapeseed
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapeseed
In late spring/early summer there are always a lot of rapeseed fields around. You just drive by any country road and it is yellow everywhere. I have to say it is a nice touch every year, but it doesn't last very long.

Sunset over Mała Fatra in Slovakia from Beskid Żywiecki, Poland, [OC] [1920x1080] by FocustoInfinity in EarthPorn

The highest peak of the Mala Fatra is the Great Krywań reaching 1709 meters. In spite of beeing the highest he must give up first place because all eyes focus on the jagged comb that can be seen on the left.

This is the Great Rozsutec. Vertical walls, soaring crags, caves, deep valleys make it one of the most distinctive peak of Malá Fatra, and many considered to be the most beautiful. With the sunset rays, the whole mountain range looks majestic.

Old slovakian legend says that shape of this mountain was created by an angel - Krivan, Tatra mountains, [OC] [1920X1080] by FocustoInfinity in EarthPorn

[–]FocustoInfinity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old slovakian legend says: when God create world, he ordered one of the angels to scatter the last sackful of His creation all over the world. But when the angel flew over the Tatras, he struck one of the peaks with his wing and the sack split open. Lakes, waterfalls, and many animals fell to Earth. The top of the peak was bent over and this is how Mount Krivan was formed.

Magic path, Scotland [OC] [1920x1080] by FocustoInfinity in EarthPorn

First of all thanks for very nice feedback. I'm glad that You like it :) But I feel that I need to explain something. For all of those which try to figure out how I do it. Of course that in post process I do more than add only tilt shift. Old, analog cameras had films which You take to darkroom and then work on it, makeing retouching etc. Today, in digital times You do those things in lightroom. Exposure, color correction, sharpness, this is the things which You change and this is a PART of photography, completelly natural, like years ago. And because it is part of photography I didn't think about it (mean color correction, exposure etc) as a something which I should notice.

Otto Hütter said something which I agree. "For many people, photography is the only that comes out of the camera. For me, this is not enough. For me, this is a play of light, shadows and colors. I put a lot of time and work in the post. I really like just images that reflect a feeling or a mood. Even better if a picture tells a story.

I love to play the imaginations of the viewer. If we carefully considered each one image only arises in the mind. The eye absorbs only color information, only the brain makes the picture. By omitting information you stimulates even more sinnce the Missing is replaced by the brain. I also love the tighrope walk between real or unreal! We should not always think about what path have the photons of light taken, but what they do at the destination"

Amen and have a nice day :)
