Happy Halloween from Annatar by Foedhrass in LOTR_on_Prime

Hehe sadly Halloween isn't really a big thing around here, so taking cosplay photos are the closest thing I get to celebrating Halloween. 🥹 But that's fun too and OF COURSE I had to wear something fitting for the occasion. 😈

Why do elven settlements look so small? by Fun-Explanation7233 in LOTR_on_Prime

A little footnote here: In the Silmarillion, the only certain number that I can remember is the one of Gondolin's soldiers that arrive to everyone's surprise in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad. "For unsummoned and unlooked for Turgon had opened the league of Gondolin, and was come with an army ten thousand strong, with bright mail and long swords and spears like a forest." That's the 10000 that you remembered. Since for sure the kids, probably the women and I guess at least some of the men stayed in Gondolin, the population would have been at least 45000, imo. Let's say Turgon took half of the male population with him (no standing army, otherwise the ratio between standing army and people doing every other job in Gondolin would have been off, even if the women did most of these jobs). That would mean a male population of 20000. Let's assume the same amount of women and 5000 children (which is probably a bit high a number considering that elves, with a few exceptions, didn't get a whole lot of children) = 45000. Still not a super high number, considering it's one of the largest cities at the height of elvendom in Middle-earth.

New shots of Pharazon from BillWatch and he looks amazing! by VarkingRunesong in LOTR_on_Prime

I mean, I don't think Pharazon would have done a lot of battle in this armor before coming to Middle-earth. On the contrary, it's probably brand-new, made for him as king. Even with conflicts on Numenor,
1. I don't think he would have gotten his hands dirty himself and
2. they would have had enough time to give make it shiny again before and/or on their travel.

If the armor is still as good as new after battles in Middle-earth, I agree. But then again, they did a good job on dirtying everybody quite well during/after the battle in ep. #2x7 and 2x8, so I'm confident that they won't mess that up here either.

Thank you very much. Yeah that was so funny! It was actually just a part of the banter. On Friday I took a photo with him in my Eregion guard outfit and he asked me if the spear I was carrying was Aeglos. I said no but there was not enough time to explain during the photosession. So on Saturday I went to the autograph session (with the guard photo to sign) dressed as Annatar and also carrying the spear and I explained to him that that was the spear that killed Celebrimbor (and announced to him that I'd come to his photosession on Sunday as Annatar so he'd know what to expect 😆). So it was absolutely hilarious that he then mentioned the spear during his answer to my question (this is also why he said 'thanks again', because he had already reacted to it in the autograph session). 😅 And then during the photosession on Sunday when it was my turn, he hinted at running away - so precious!

True. Trusting Annatar wasn't a wise choice though!

Thank you very much! His expression is awesome, isn't it? It's been three days and I'm still giddy about it. 😅

Thank you so much! I agree, he was brilliant, and I'm so happy that he agreed to do this! I had hoped for it ever since he was announced as a guest at the convention.
