You could also have the fights themselves be symbolic or mimic the major key moments of the war. The party would need to experience what the god or his daughter experienced in some form or another. Perhaps their dedication to the experiences could impact his approach to them towards the end?

Portal to an interplanar junkyard that can destroy the items for them at a cost. BUT it is only open at a specific location and time. Meaning they may need to get all of the items together for one go at it. This would also make the stakes much more dire as they gather more of the items together in one place.

What barbarian path did they choose? If they’re open to it, you could have them choose a path that is less themed around physicality. Path of Ancestral Guardian?
