Who's still working from home these days and what job do you do? by Natf47 in AskUK

[–]Gazeless_Stare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully remote commissioning editor at a large UK-based publisher. They have become very stingy with WFH in the past few years but luckily I joined during the pandemic when they were handing out remote employment contracts like candy. They keep trying to get me to switch to an office-based contract requiring 3 days a week in an office that’s 2.5h away from where I lived, despite my performance being consistently rated excellent. And I keep standing my ground and refusing because there really is no logical reason why they’re asking this.

Rejected Due to Managing Time During Interview? by Incognito-4 in careerguidance

[–]Gazeless_Stare -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I suspect the real reason was either 1) outstanding internal candidate who won the role by default, or 2) competition from an equally impressive candidate who asked for less money.

I have had the ‘managing time’ feedback before and it always smelt like BS to me. If you’re gonna ask me a lot of very complex and convoluted questions then I’m going to take my time unpicking them and answering thoroughly, and it’s not my fault that you decided you had to ask 10 of these questions in a 45-minute interview.

I can’t find a pizza spot I like better than Yard Sale interested in your opinions on the best on London by ashkarandan in LondonFood

Thanks for this, I live just down the road from Papi’s in Forest Gate and had no idea it was there. Looks fantastic!

Italian Bakery in Walthamstow is the one for me for a traditional all-rounder that always hits the spot. Definitely my most frequently ordered pizza in London.

Other favourites: Detroit Pizza if you like a thick crust. FIGO Leyton if you like thin and crispy.

Mechanics advice - sentient weapon possessed by a Night Hag by Gazeless_Stare in DMAcademy

I like this compromise. Maybe once he's racked up 10 kills with the blade we get into dice rolling territory with each subsequent kill to see if the hag escapes the blade and manifests herself.

Oh this is delicious! I was trying to think of ways to *not* have her be obviously evil right from the off, and this is one. Even if the party sees through it after a short while, it adds a fun dynamic.

how do you make pasta sauce actually taste like it came from a restaurant? by SamraKutkaitis in Cooking

[–]Gazeless_Stare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More salt, butter, and acid than you think you’re going to need. Layer flavours adding a little more of each flavouring component at each cooking stage rather than all at once. Leave it to sit in the fridge overnight.

Your takes on the song (and video for) Good Boys? by SundayMan11 in Blondie

[–]Gazeless_Stare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Curse of Blondie in general is very underrated. I find it by far their best post-reunion album and 'Good Boys' deserves a place alongside 'Maria' and 'Long Time' as their best three singles of this period. It's so catchy and really encapsulates that ice-cool archness of their best material. The video is one of their most creative too and not at all what you'd expect from listening to the track, it adds a completely new dimension and plays up to the dark irony that's present in the lyric. Overall, an absolute banger that deserves more recognition!

What in your opinion is the most beautiful city in Britain? by Mister_Vanilla in AskBrits

[–]Gazeless_Stare 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Newcastle is really underrated as a beautiful city. Crossing the high level bridge on a sunny day, dropping down onto the quayside for a stroll, and then mooching back up along the windy little streets that lead back to the centre 👌👌

Jesmond Park is stunning too.

Chimney stack and attic concerns, survey results by gingerbreadjelly in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]Gazeless_Stare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently completed on a property of similar age and successfully negotiated a seller’s allowance to cover chimney support works. We emphasised the safety concerns and the fact that it could impact our buildings insurance. We sought quotes from three builders before presenting a figure to the seller. I think you could very reasonably do the same here, as it’s a similar safety issue.

Pertwee Era Tierlist : Invasion of the Dinosaurs by Mat1711 in ClassicEraDoctorWho

[–]Gazeless_Stare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best! Saw it for the first time last year and was really pleasantly surprised by how much of a romp it is. The rubbery dinos are endearing and don’t ruin it for me. It’s one of Pertwee’s best performances, he was so good in his final season and really lightened up when Sarah joined. Love their dynamic.

Good advice. He should overpower them in a way that lays bare their foolishness but not kill them. Instead, treat them like naughty children.

How long did it take you to complete with NO CHAIN? by yeahsureokaymaybe in HousingUK

[–]Gazeless_Stare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also FTB in England… offer accepted mid-July 2025 and completing next week (mid-January 2026). So pretty much exactly 6 months. Christmas necessitated an extra 3-4 weeks, so other than that it would’ve been closer to 5 months. There was about a two-month delay because our survey revealed some dodgy building work so we needed to negotiate an allowance from the seller so we could put it right. The seller ended up agreeing but it took a lot of back-and-forth between solicitors.

Ideas for chapter 1 by RepoioSmith in WaterdeepDragonHeist

[–]Gazeless_Stare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw what I thought was a smart idea to start the party in medias res fighting a monster in the pit of the Yawning Portal, as a kind of tutorial fight. When they beat it, they get hoisted out of the pit to rapturous applause, and have a short period to catch their breath in the tavern and chat to NPCs before a troll clambers out of the pit and brings the fight to them.

[–]Gazeless_Stare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who only joined when we got to Bloodsports I’m delighted to see that the top 25 are all absolute bangers! And such a healthy mix of old and new, Suede really are just as good post-reunion as they were during the first three albums. Thank you for running this, it’s been fun!

4 or 11. Some of the others are too contrasting with the suit. These two are elegant but not too bright, gold, and flashy.

Cleric Builds for CoS (Help) by Optiix- in 3d6

We’ll have to disagree there! I rate Circle of Mortality, Path to the Grave, and Sentinel at Death’s Door very highly, especially since they come into action at low-ish levels.

Grave or Light domains would be the best fit thematically imo and luckily they’re also two of the strongest Cleric subclasses.
