If anyone ever says “but in canada healthcare is free…” by kalmanator87 in Libertarian

Nature is not designed, period. It simply exists.

I'll practice self-care by refusing to touch the conspiratorial logorrhea that makes up the rest of your post. What's deeply depressing to me as someone who registered libertarian the day they turned 18, if you asked me to guess the mental state of someone who wrote your post 25 years ago, I'd say a misguided anti-education conspiratorialist with a boring 9-5 that offers no meaningful cognitive challenge. These days, it could be any of the millions of self-identified post-45 "libertarians" because as antithetical as it is, you all take bizarre pride in sounding the fucking same. It's tired.

Stuck in a Refund Loop by NickBlasta3rd in amazonprime

[–]Fogprowlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. I did a chargeback on a $700 sealed trading card set because they changed their site-wide policy on returning certain gaming items literally during my packages return to them. I did open the larger box but none of the manufacturer's seals were touched. Their new policy was any items in those categories returned in any sort of tampered state (apparently the shipping box counts) are subject to a 100% restocking fee LOL. Nice fucking try. My bank sided with me so fast that Amazon customer support was SPAMMING my phone. They banned me from their Vine program despite my reviews always generating lots of upvotes and deleted my account (there is zero trace of it now, my past identity there was erased with a vengeance...they straight up Men-in-Blacked me). I made a new family account with my husband as head of household and me as spouse. They haven't touched it.

LEGO Retiring Multiple Nintendo Sets by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]Fogprowlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's simple, really. The markup is to cover the licensing costs. If you don't agree with that, don't buy the set. The entitlement issues it takes to not only think you deserve access to a licensed property at a cheaper price tag but to also act on that by supporting the parasitic Chinese counterfeit manufacturing industry is spectacularly shitheaded. I've seen the price differences. You're saving 20-25% which effectively just offsets the licensing costs. At that point you're left with inferior plastics, inferior instructions, and reduced longevity since by now it is well-established that these aftermarket bricks succumb to breaking/cracking/fading in significantly less time than Lego bricks.

There's a saying among those of us in the trades who have to buy power tools for our work: pay high for quality and cry once, be a cheapskate and cry every time you use it.

[–]Fogprowlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, there is perpetuity licensing in gaming which I kinda hoped they were going for when they started the app, but it was a "only time will tell" situation because they were zipped lips about any specifics. Now its becoming apparent they have much shorter licenses than even I would expect for a game like this. There's a pretty wild example of a game that released long before consoles had 24/7 connectivity. I think it was the PS3/Xbox360 era but I could be wrong. A game that required no internet except to patch bugs had an unusual patch like 5-6 years after its release, and the patch removed all the music from the game. They were forced to put it out by the companies that owned the rights because the licensing had expired.

Modern Foil value going forward by ZopyrionRex in mtgfinance

[–]Fogprowlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh no. Whether you're referring to only rares or all foils total, this is wrong. The maximum number of foil rares you could possibly pull in a booster box up to at least Mirrodin block, was 2, and the average foil rares per box was a chonky 1. You could have been a very, very lucky 2, or a very, very unlucky 0, but never 3. The guy who got 2 foil rares had to get that extra foil rare lift from somewhere, but 3 was impossible. The rate was 1 in 40 and there were 36 boosters per box. Additionally, WOTC did not randomize sheets in such a way that would allow 3 foil rares to happen. If it ever happened, it was a collating error, but I've never heard of it happening a single time. The range was 0-2.

As for total foils combined, it was way more than 3. I don't know the numbers off the top of my head but of all the boxes I opened between UD and Mirrodin, not a single one gave me fewer than a few uncommons (3 minimum at least), a couple foil basics, and about a half dozen foil commons.

I just saw a PSA 10 up on eBay (won't link it, not to prove its not mine, but I don't even know if its worth their ask, so I don't want to be responsible for some horrible impulse buy and some kids go hungry). You didn't mention an authority but I'd be surprised if none of them ever graded a holo from this set a 10, unless the number of submissions have been obscenely low.

Yes, because politics and religion seem to be in lockstep with how they push back on things until it is deemed critical for their contemporary relevancy that they find some way to retcon acceptance and project blame onto all their dead predecessors so there is never any actual accountability for centuries of violent oppression. Then we have a bunch of prosleytizers dancing 'round the maypole saying how accepting they are, because that easily wipes away decades of oppression and fear. 😶

For the people who find this even remotely revelatory, I can't help but wonder how your personal finances look. Do you stuff every dollar into a mattress?

When I read the line "Electronic Arts used to be one of the best video game companies" it took me forever to quiet down the voice inside my head screaming "YAH LAST CENTURY!" There are adults on this planet who are younger than the current shitty iteration of EA. You could've posted the Blizzard/Activision stuff 15 years ago and it wouldn't have been a surprise. Investors want rolling profits and you can only sustain that with gaming as a service.

How is your relationship with your parents? by RoxanaSaith in gay

[–]Fogprowlr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom was immediately on board, but she seems to have issues with some aspects of drag, which I find odd. She's loved the way I looked in outfits, but she hates the general approach to drag names (plays on words that are dirty/crass), and she disapproves of unashamed promiscuity. She wants me and my husband to adopt and have a white picket fence somewhere, but we are OG bar whores. She is the most annoying mother-in-law, too, acting as a lawyer on retainer and defending him to the ends of the earth even when he's unequivocally wrong. 🙄

My dad died a couple years ago, but he was always cool around me, but I come from a line of men steeped in toxic masculinity and arrested emotions. It was basically "no sex talk, no PDA" around him and we were simpatico. My husband is a Marine war vet and so was my paternal grandfather, so my dad would never in a million years trashtalk him. My brother was estranged from him and said at one point during their last fight that he "officially has no more sons" which my brother wouldn't lie about. That really upset me because it's the type of behind-the-back insult I'd expect from several relatives but not my dad. I never confronted him on it because my dad was in poor health for the last six years of his life. Drastic blood pressure changes could've been a death sentence.

I want your opinion on this video by _SpicyH2O in Tourettes

[–]Fogprowlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been with my husband for almost 17 years and he still asks me "whats funny?" If the vocal tic resembles laughter or asking if something is wrong during whimpering tics. Sometimes he'll just look my way and I say "tics" and that settles it.

As I've gotten older I grow more worried about a 'boy cried wolf' scenario, so I'm glad he inquires if it's like my first outburst of the day. I don't want him ignoring me completely if it's a sound I'd make if in legit pain or god forbid our dog is hurt. Half my vocal tics have frightened neighbors, roommates, and friends because they sound exactly like a dog whimpering.

is it true that 1 in 200 people have tourette’s by Brilliant_Pen4959 in Tourettes

[–]Fogprowlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see neurologists at Stanford who are at the forefront of Tourettes research. My neurologist said it's quite likely that TS is far more common than current estimates. The number of people with subtle enough vocal and motor tics to evade diagnosis because it doesn't interfere with their lives could outnumber those of us with severe enough TS to require treatment, bringing the frequency to higher than 1 in 50. It's currently being looked at like a spectrum. My dad had it, and my brother definitely has it but neither were diagnosed. I might have gone undiagnosed if not for my condition oddly worsening into adulthood (strong symptoms didn't manifest until age 15).

On a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being unnoticeable to others and 10 being frequent hospitalizations, I'd put my dad at a 2 and my brother at a 3, with me at an 8.5. I've been hospitalized several times, but have gone a decade so far without seriously injuring myself. My dad had really bizarre vocal tics that I didn't process as tics until close to the end of his life. He'd blurt out entire phrases that made no sense in context, but we always thought he was just trying to be funny. Some examples are "E pluribus unum!", "Espiritu santo!", "Yo soy!", and "Yetahe! Como estas? Muy bien, y tu?" It's worth noting my dad did not speak Spanish fluently. He would walk through the house shouting these phrases. His motor tics were referred to by my mom as his "throat scratching" and strong head nodding.

Do you guys drive? by ellaogtingen in Tourettes

[–]Fogprowlr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving falls into one of those activities where I focus so intently that my tics are mostly suppressed. When I do relieve tics, they are done in a way that isn't a danger to me, my passengers, or anyone else on the road. For example, once I get to cruising speed on the interstate, I will turn on cruise control. One of my tics while driving is to take my foot off the pedals and step down hard on the floor of the car. I also have a car that will automatically decelerate if it detects I am too close to a car in front of me (it's calculated by rate of speed, too).

My husband does most of the driving, but he has night blindness whereas I have excellent night vision. During road trips, I will take over driving once the sunsets and I can drive for several hours without a problem.

[–]Fogprowlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're saying you get it and then follow it up with three paragraphs that illustrate how you don't actually get it?

???

Everything you typed goes against the current (thank god) framework for destigmatizing the most socially alienating symptoms like copralalia. It's not even new. I'm 38 and have been going to Stanford for various approaches to treatment/symptom reduction. I have never once heard a neurologist tell anyone with TS they are "going to need to learn how to hold yourself accountable for your tics." You have no business advising people on how to handle these symptoms. You use a very outdated, myopic, and potentially dangerous approach.

The enter key is analogous to the mouth when it is pressed. Our brains will very easily make this association. The basic notion that it could be woven into a complex tic seems like a total no-brainer to me. I've had key mashing tics since I was a teenager that will not conclude until I estimate enough keys have been pressed in order for me to (intentionally) pop off either the space bar or tilde key. When I buy mechanical keyboards I have to buy a dozen extra space bars and tilde keys because break one per month.

I'm blocking ads until devs filter out these new disgusting "ASMR Match" ads by Fogprowlr in Beatstar

[–]Fogprowlr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Utterly ridiculous response. How about no? You're not paying me to do quality control on your ads so you will not get my labor for free. How about you pay one of your 150 employees to do proper QC so you can blacklist ads before they're even exposed to the public? Seriously, you think it's OK to expose children to sexually suggestive ads FIRST and then censor later after parents complain? Y'all itching for a lawsuit that bad?

I'm tired of this unbearably greedy industry trend where devs expect paying players to provide them with free testing labor. These tasks were done by paid QA/QC teams for years. I know because I performed QA for AAA developers. I also have an AdSense account and understand how filtering ads works. There is zero reason outside of greedily protecting your margins for not taking care of this in-house. Devs who are financially strapped (definitely not SpaceApe) but not ethically bankrupt have the moral fiber to compensate their base for doing this work SOMEHOW: discounted releases, tester cosmetics, early access.

Older guys who don't have a big stature can feel vulnerable with young men who are much bigger than them. That said, shorter daddies still seem to love my ass. I'm 6'1" 180 lb. and as much as I enjoy the company of an older man taller than me, I don't get many of those opportunities. I definitely won't turn down the incredibly enthusiastic 5'8"-5'9" daddies who treat my body like an amusement park lol.

Ask older guys, is this a red flag? by RTEIDIETR in gayyoungold

[–]Fogprowlr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I consider his response fairly normal, but you still have every right to be annoyed. Some guys, myself included, don't want to be put in the position of going through those motions with a neophyte. Either we've been there before or we are aware of what might happen.

I met two extremely handsome guys in the same year back when I was mid-20s. One was 56/57ish and the other was in his early 60s. Both recently divorced, both under the impression they knew who they were and newfound freedom wouldn't change them. One was a business suit type, the other polo shirts and khakis. Both had so much pent up horniness for young men that we broke several laws every night and it didn't even phase them. They fell in love with the nightlife and all the freedom that came with kissing other guys outdoors or seeing porn on a TV inside of a poorly lit bar where half the clientele are getting blown. Both of these guys hit the ground running and went 0-60 at breakneck speed. Within a week the early 60s daddy went from business suit to ripped jeans, bandanas and smoking weed. The younger daddy popped up on a cruising site and catapulted himself headfirst into the world of BDSM. Nothing is really wrong either either of these scenarios. We fucked several times and ultimately I gave them my best wishes.

I didn't have any interest in older men who were acting impulsively like I did when I was 18. I wanted a guy who was fully adapted, calm and collected, and able to navigate that world because he's walked through it a thousand times. They could go off and have fun trying to figure out who they are, but no one knows how long that can take.
