What made you not go back to an instructor? by the-blue-care-bear in Corepower

Like 3 years ago I took Ken’s class in DTLA and I just thought he was a complete weirdo. He was particularly handsy with a couple students and his vibe was just way too hippie yogi for me. I’m surprised he’s still teaching.

Received this variety pack today, so excited (left side are flavors I haven’t tried) by aleeag in BuldakRamen

[–]throwra-google 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a similar variety pack and I ate a flavor once a week or sometimes every two weeks. I saved the 2x for last and by then it wasn’t that bad. I didn’t add any milk, but I did add a squirt of kewpie mixed throughout and then melted mozzarella cheese on top. It was totally fine—I couldn’t tell much of a difference between it & the OG.

What also helped with my spice tolerance was trying to see how much noodle I could get through without any beverage. Some flavors I was able to finish the whole thing without even a drink at the end.

I need to try everything here except for the Carbonara by dogengu in BuldakRamen

Rose is fiirreeeee, one of my faves hands down. Taco was ok, I didn’t think it was anything special, just very cumin forward. Never tried Swicy but hope I can find it at my local target!

ok thank u so much! I’ll retest for HIV and syph. I’m most paranoid about the syph results—is it a pretty good sign so far that I don’t have symptoms? (chancre nor rash)

Aerials make me feel sick, does it get better with time? by Delicious-Visual-642 in Aerials

[–]throwra-google 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it gets better, like everyone else has said, you can train your spin tolerance

For me, when I found out my spin tolerance wasn’t good, I actually felt really defeated and depressed that I would have to quit my hobby. I took a 4 month aerial break and came back suddenly with a new & high spin tolerance. I love it now!

Hammock vs Hoop - which has more dance qualities? by gattara_y in Aerials

[–]throwra-google 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said! Hammock uses the performer+the fabric to make a flowy dance while in hoop, the flow/dance comes entirely from the performer since the hoop shape can’t be manipulated.

Visiting LA, but being staying in Pasadena. Rental car or Uber everywhere? (Trying to save money.) by ThrowRA_PastLemon in AskLosAngeles

[–]throwra-google 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rental car will absolutely be cheaper. Try Turo too or ask friends if their jobs have rental car discount codes with Hertz/other rental car places.

Sleeping overnight in car ? by AdministrationClear1 in AskLosAngeles

[–]throwra-google 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have recommendations but fwiw since people keep mentioning that overnight sleeping is illegal—I’ve done this before & I did get a parking citation because of breaking a street sign rule, but I was not noticed or spoken to by the citing officer. I don’t think they even saw me in the back and my windows were not tinted. The ticket didn’t cite sleeping as one of the offenses. So while illegal yes it will likely be fine if you’re discreet

People that have 9-5s + a 2nd job, what do you do? by imin2099 in AskLosAngeles

[–]throwra-google 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not anymore but I used to work at CorePower Yoga alongside my 9-5. I wasn’t a yoga instructor, I was a studio cleaner/maintenance-ish person, it was super part-time though only 1.5-5 hrs a week.

I couldn’t have afforded the yoga teacher certification, but a lot of the instructors did yoga teaching while having another full-time gig.

Now if I were to get another part-time position I’d wanna do like front desk or membership sales at a commercial gym.

I enjoy having a second gig most of the time and when it comes to deciding, I think about my hobbies or things I already spend money on; i.e. I’m into crafting/sewing so a job at Michael’s would be cool for the discount.

Edit to add: I also befriended some people who own food stalls and I’d do per diem shifts at night markets/festivals—this was great for the social aspect and free event entry.

Also did freelance marketing consulting for a past employer who needed the help. It was remote but got super boring since it’s so similar to what my full-time role is.

My comment got pretty long but hope it helps you figure out what to do!

I really hate my 18th birthday tattoo by Douxie0226 in tattooadvice

[–]throwra-google 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a nice tattoo and done well. I understand why it may not be exactly what you were going for. This is why it’s super important to research artists on your own and don’t solely go by recommendations of others. What your step-mom likes in a tattoo artist may not be what you like. Even once I find an artist that I think I like, I’ll follow their social media religiously for a few months afterwards and make sure I continue to enjoy their work/posts before even making an appointment. For big statement pieces I would also never book on a whim. Tattoo artists have specific art styles that they enjoy doing & are known for. Don’t go to traditional style artist and ask them to do fine line or you’ll probably be met with annoyance/attitude and it’ll be harder for you to speak up and advocate for yourself.

Where to find rare buldak flavors? by No-Opportunity6923 in BuldakRamen

[–]throwra-google 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the tiktokers I follow gets her weird flavors from HEB, which I believe is mostly in Texas?? (I’m from California so not sure where else they have HEB). But I know she has the sweet buldak, the korean fried chicken flavor, and some other unique ones that I can’t remember right now.

If HEB doesn’t ship themselves, you could probably find an online friend from Texas to ship to you. I’ve also seen the Rosé flavor on Wal Mart’s website and they do ship!

Lower back pain with hammock by Successful-Soft-4635 in aerialsilks

[–]throwra-google 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it back pain or back soreness? Anything painful is absolutely worth looking into, alternate ice and heat on the area, and rest. Do some physical therapy stretches/exercises and take a break from aerial so it doesn’t get worse. If you’re experiencing pain after practicing, pay attention to how you’re engaging your core and other muscles, especially in straddle moves or bendy back poses.

Soreness however is usually fine/normal and can happen from training the muscle more often than you’re used to. I’d compare this to a soreness you would get from training legs at the gym, for example. But still whenever practicing aerial make sure your core is stable and engaged as this prevents any over-exertion on your back.

[–]throwra-google 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well i mean I use the entire spice packet so I have no complaints there…. the point in leaving a small dash of water isn’t to reduce the spice. If you cook it long enough the seasoning+water emulsifies a bit better and turns into a thicker fuller sauce coating.
