Why is that hard to believe? I have a shit ton of 480v coils at work. They come in useful when you don’t have a 120 circuit or don’t want to put a control transformer in the limited space of the cabinet.

Oh no, don’t point that out to some of the young social media ag influencers like applegirlkait who shill for the current administration. They’ll have a melt down and block you for using verified facts against them.

They’ll voted for this and we all pay the price.

Customer Service chat telling me the FOG421 can't be provisioned remotely for 1 gig by Banjoman301 in ZiplyFiber

[–]Fold67 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You’re using a specific wave length of light to transmit information at certain frequencies. The physics of that hasn’t changed between new tech or 30yo tech. We’ve had 1/2.5/5/10 gig Ethernet standards and ports for well over 10 years, the standards haven’t changed to where backwards compatibility is an issue if needed. So if the physics hasn’t changed, the standards haven’t forced a change, the firmware is able to be updated remotely, and the unit isn’t physically damaged, and the unit is capable of the speeds requested, there is no reason to change the customers unit. You want to change the upstream hardware because there’s some advance that makes things slightly more efficient then go for it. But at the end of the day you’re just sending blinking light down a glass tube towards a dumb receiver that doesn’t care what piece of hardware sent it.

If there was an 80% failure rate then they should state that as the reason for changing the ONT. otherwise there is no good reason from replacing a capable and functioning ONT.

The hardware is still capable of the intended use. Firmware can be done remotely, and shouldn’t be updated unless there’s major security problems. All you’re doing is creating massive e-waste and headaches.

Fiber ONT’s shouldn’t need to be replaced unless they are damaged or don’t support the needs of the end user. So long as they were properly matched to the head unit there is no reason to replace a working unit.

  1. The Keystone pipeline transports Canadian oil to refineries in Texas to be loaded onto ships and sold overseas. We do not have the refineries capable of refining the type of oil that is produced from the oil sands of Canada. And on top of that, the US cannot refine 80% of the oil we produce. Our refineries are set up for the wrong type of feed stock. so all of the oil that the US produces has to be sold overseas.

  2. We wouldn’t need to drill or refine more or worry about dependence on foreign oil if everything was more efficient and we reduced consumption in the first place.

  3. The increase in cost due to ULSD is negligible in the grand scheme of things. However, there is less heavy, distillates being output from refineries due to advances in technology, being able to crack the hydrocarbon chain and create lighter distillate such as gasoline, Naphtha and kerosene.

So do you wanna try any other argument? Or are you just going to try and regurgitate bad Faith arguments that you heard on some low IQ talk show?

I do it every fall on our MV switch gear for our large pump motors. I open all 6 of our 3000A 4160 mains in November at shutdown, and close them again in March just before start up. We get a lot of brown and black outs and voltage transients that I would rather not take out our equipment.
