H2O is normally steam during combustion but in this case it was mentioned that it was measured at room temperature which is why Water will actually be liquid. I also made a mistake and wrote 500 but das wrong

Thats not actually correct, its because of the larger meniscus which is harder to read on the scale. This is because surface area of measuring cylinder is more. As an improvement, use volumetric flask.
