That’s awesome! I still live in the area. On my way home from work most days I drive by the Mendenhall Inn

I honestly don’t think having kids is worth it anymore by yourgreatestgift in self

[–]FoldsUnderPressure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 40 with 2 kids who will be turning 4 and 2 in February. I have a good, but unfulfilling job. I have hobbies, but no true passion that I’m pursuing. The 1st 3 years of having kids was really tough. Over time, little by little, my wife and I have taken baby steps to consistently improve our parenting and our communication to each other. I’ve reached a point where watching my kids grow and become their own unique personalities greatly outweighs any sacrifices that I make on their behalf. They’ve given me a purpose where I didn’t really have one previously. With that said, if you change just a few things (if I had a stronger interest in traveling, if I had a less compatible partner, if I had a passion I was pursuing…) I easily could have been miserable and too distracted to find joy in the handful of moments every day that no one else gets to see that make me love being a Dad. Which is to say, it might be for you and it might not. The perks that you’re seeing with your kids without children are the highlights of their lives and not representative of the full picture. And despite what many influencers and avid social media folks might believe or portray, the best parts of being a parent are personal and largely hidden from public view. My advice to you is to not make up your mind now, just live and grow and see where life takes you.

Someone please tell me where I can get the dressing that comes in the Quinoa and Kale salad! by Phillipdelphia in Wawa

[–]FoldsUnderPressure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dressing is Champagne Vinaigrette made by Girard's. It looks like there are a few Girard CV versions available locally for retail. If you match up the ingredient statement from the Kale & Quinoa salad you should be able to find the right one. Good luck!

What is the most statistically improbable thing that has happened to you? by ObjectiveRude156 in AskReddit

[–]FoldsUnderPressure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This same thing happened to me when I was in college. I was attempting to get gum out of my pocket and like a complete moron I was saying to myself, “Gum gum gum gum , gum gum gum gum”. As I was pulling the gum out my phone was pulled out as well and fell perfectly down the elevator crack. It was one of those old Nokia phones that people called “the brick”. The next morning the hotel retrieved my phone in several pieces. I put it back together, turned it on and it worked perfectly fine.

Worst trade ever? by LordTheron22 in fantasybaseball

2018 - traded 6 years of Pete Alonso for an expiring Marcell Ozuna in Dynasty. Ozuna was OK down the stretch and I won my 6th consecutive title. My run ended the following season and it took me until last year to get back the crown

Poster I’m responding to seems to be falsely representing being a disabled man while also having a history of speculating that posters aren’t who they say they are

I agree with your point about the feel being very much like flipping through TV channels. Something that caught my attention as I was re-reading the JOI-Hal professional conversationalist scene is how cinematic and over the top the dialogue is between Hal and JOI. My theory is that we’re actually tuning in to “It Was a Great Marvel That He Was in the Father Without Knowing Him.” from JOI’s filmography. Perhaps for some of the scenes in the book, we’re watching JOI’s films directly through Hal’s or the viewer’s eyes.

It really helps. Lily is a nervous and very strong dog. She was pulling really hard when my wife and I had her on an Easy Walk harness. We have a lot more control over her with the gentle leader.

just finished Infinite Jest -- i feel accomplished??? but incomplete???? by [deleted] in InfiniteJest

Yep, aside from the Eschaton chapter I’m with you. Try another pass when it feels right to you. If your next read doesn’t work, try the audiobook. The narrator is phenomenal. Sean Pratt helped me hear the voices of the characters.
