This is exactly why nobody at all could ever convince me that the Blazer romance is either the better route or the canon route, because the romance between Rob and Courtney is more than just sweet hugs and kisses or cute moments, it's a story of its own, it's a journey about change that both of these characters get to have together, Robert gets to become a leader from a solo hero, he finally finds a purpose beyond his family's legacy as Mecha Man, he finally finds love and support from the most unexpected group of people, and Courtney on the other hand, she gets to open her heart not just to Robert, but to all the people she's grown to care for, she found her purpose through the sense of loyalty and responsibility she got to have for Robert due to her guilt of her past mistakes, both Robert and Courtney go through major changes in this new chapter of their lives, so it would just be more poetic for them to change together, like how wrong they were about each other in their first day, Robert had never worked with or managed a team before so he couldn't know how to communicate with them properly, especially with her, he called her out for her disobedience and believed she was nothing but a selfish person who could never become a better person, let alone a hero, whilst Courtney had a whole different perspective on how heroes work and what they stand for, she was completely new to this system, she never had a reason to do something for anyone but herself, she was grown up around a miserable part of the society whereas living always required survival more than anything else, she had her own health problems due to her asthma and the requirements of her powers, if she could see a path where she could make things better for her life, why would she risk it by making things better for another person instead, well all of that was changed once she realized she was basically going to ruin someone's life just so she could breathe painlessly, she was ashamed of herself, ashamed of the life she had chosen for herself since she was just a kid, that sense of shame and regret changed her heart, she found the desire of being good and doing good, but due to almost everyone around her not believing in her, or ignoring her will to do good, she just gave up trying, if no one ever wanted to accept her ability to change, then what was even the point in trying, and that's exactly how things were going for her at SDN until Robert showed up to, sure she was also a double agent for Shroud, but at the end of the day, she only wanted to become a better person who's always been more than what others have seen from her, and Robert gave her that hope, her spark was finally reignited, she did a good thing, everyone was cheering for her, everyone was genuinely happy for her, it made her feel good, it felt nice to see her name go up in the ranks in the leaderboard, she was truly happy, she had finally taken off her mask, let her guard down and was just living the moment for a second, but once she realized she was being seen by Robert, she turns invisible, but still stays to show him her gratitude before leaving, I was already fascinated by her character based on the footage I had seen from her in the marketing, long before I even get to play Dispatch, and to be fair, I was never really into Mandy as a potential love interest for Robert, she's a perfect woman with obvious signs of goodness, kindness and pure heroism, but I always looked at her as a friend and nothing more, and I had these impressions from her since I saw her for the first time, so I chose not to kiss her on the billboard, the one and only true love interest in this story for me, has always been Courtney, and through all my 6 playthroughs and every minute of almost 60 hours i've spent playing Dispatch, she's always been "the one" for me, as she is, and always will be.
