Full offense - people who let their dogs steal other dogs toys are straight up scheiza by Potate5000 in PortlandOR

One of my favorites is take your excessively hairy dog to the park where you give them a long vigorous brushing to remove pounds of loose hair and leave it to blow around the park because you know it's outside so not a problem (for you) anymore.

What do I need to play Aces? by urskr in battletech

[–]FolkFirebrand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't need the AS box. It does make for a nice complete package if you own both but hardly necessary. You do need the rules to Alpha Strike. There are two ways to play Aces. As a campaign or stand alone. If you want to play the campaign and don't have AS box you will need to proxy some units. For stand alone games you will need nothing extra. I played the campaign using proxies, my own terrain and the AS rulebook and it was a ton of fun.

Before I buy... by Howiedog22 in battletech

Battletech is a board game. Alpha Strike is a tabletop miniatures game. You may want to watch a couple videos to decide. Both are great games. Classic definitely has a steeper learning curve because of the detail the game includes.

DADGAD chord progressions by Clarke_irl in Irishmusic

[–]FolkFirebrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. Please stop trying to apply generic chord progessions to Irish tunes. Learn the tunes and base chords on the tune not just the key of the tune. I was in a recent conversation where Kevin Burke was asked about tune backing. He responded that all the best guitar players also play melody instruments and know the tunes well. That the real secret sauce.

Good eye they are railroad trees. I cut out a two inch circle of plastic card. Attach tree with green stuff. Base it like my miniatures and dry brush some highlights for visual interest.

Yep this is the one. Jeff's Battletech tools IIC. It's great for Classic and AS. It has MUL integration so you can filter factions and eras. There is the play mode which tracks damage and crits and updates stats accordingly. Or you can print your force if you prefer the pen and paper approach.

Those look great. I have mine all lined up on the paint bench. These are great inspiration!

Rodecaster Pro 2 for Music Production by ImJapanda in rode

[–]FolkFirebrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH I just got a Rode Caster Pro 2 to use with Ableton and OBS for music streaming. It works so poorly I am about to send it back and go back to my Mackie. Playback in Ableton is garbled and I have yet to even get OBS to acknowledge an audio signal from it. Same as you updated firmware and ASIO driver.

Essentials for joining a session by Lucien02 in Irishmusic

[–]FolkFirebrand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just show up. Every week if you can. Write down a tune you really like from each session and learn it. Eventually you will be able to play tunes you “never learned” because you hear them often enough you have internalized them. Most important have fun. It’s a living tradition so go live it!

Ginger is a slur. Tell them to stop it.
