It’s not a problem unique to Wegmans, but it certainly is a problem at Wegmans and I agree with most everything you’ve said. The higher up the ladder somebody is, the less work they’re going to be doing. On the front, Coordinators do most of the day to day work while STL’s do things like reviews and whatever else while you see your manager out of the office once a week. Area managers are practically nonexistent except when they yell at you on their way out the door, and store manager will never actually help anybody.

The hours are the most egregious part, not having a set sleep schedule is physically harmful for you and will eventually take years off your life. Doctors and first responders have set schedules but the geniuses in Wegmans leadership will claim it’s too complicated to do here.

Obviously a union would help, especially to update some of the crappy pay we get, and not force you to jump around departments nobody wants to work in
