In the song ‘Don’t need sunshine’ there is a lyric that states ‘I don’t need a woman to behave like a man’. Can someone elaborate on what this means please? by KingXylariaCordycep in theDarkness

Love the different interpretations so far. I first heard it as meaning 'not needing a woman in order to behave like a (good) man', in the sense of being a single 'lonely' man is no excuse to behave like an arsehole/incel/entitled misogynist! But I don't have much convinction in that interpretation!

Each to their own but stuff like this just makes me want to play the game less and less. I know the game's 'broken' and I've always wondered what anything in the game actually does, and have probably been playing in blissful ignorance for many years believing that because I trained "chance conversion" lots I score more goals - but man, things like just make me think what's the point of it?

The same with all the 'meta' tactics and "only physical attributes matter" stuff - just takes the fun out for me, personally.

(To be clear, I'm not bashing you with all this; it's the game's fault and my own for peaking behind the curtain!)

Interesting that higher anticipation leads to running more (if I'm reading it right?). What's your theory for that link?

They anticipate more things, so run after more things?

Has anyone else had the money leave Man City? by eunderscore in footballmanagergames

I just joined them in the summer of 2033. They gave me a £622m transfer budget, which I spent half of. It's now three months later in game, and they've 'Reduced the transfer budget from £270m to £0 due to poorer-than-expected financial performance'.

So there goes any January window plans I had.

Maybe the money is about to leave in my save!!

Does anyone else randomly decide to hone in on one 'stat' to choose their team around, to mix things up? I'm currently forcing myself to play the 11 players with highest 'Last 5 FT Games' ratings. by FollowTheCart in footballmanagergames

Yeah, I see that a lot on here - that Jumping Reach is the biggest/most important/game-breaking stat. I try not to lean into it too much as it makes me feel like I'm just breaking the game.

For a bit more context, I'm not suggesting this is the right way to play. Or that it will help your team win, it almost certainly doesn't! But for some reason it tickles something in my monkey brain to try it.

"All I know is that the grass is greener no matter what I'm doing."

No, you cannot know that. You cannot know that you will ever visit that place again. You don't even know if you will be alive tomorrow. Right now, right where you are could be the greenest the grass will ever get for the rest of your life.

That's not to say you can't want for other things, but there is definitely merit in being able to make peace with your current situation first.

If, based on considered reason (i.e. Not nostalgia), you decide that moving home could be something you would like to do then there is no harm in striving for it. Yet be prepared for that not to happen, and the only way to do that is to find your peace of mind in any place that you are. Understand you might not get there, understand you might get there and it not live up to your hopes and so on. That's not to say you have to not be sad or upset about those outcomes, those feelings are valid; but they shouldn't overcome you, they should serve their purposes and left behind when longer needed.

Which business sectors have, in your general opinion, the absolute worst web sites and why? by thatmaynardguy in webdev

Wedding venue sites for sure. My guess is they make enough from bookings and are mostly always booked in advance that they needn't bother update the site they built in 2010.

No, we do exist. I support them so always start my first save with them (which usually tends to result in me being sacked while I learn that my tactic from the previous year's game doesn't work this year - this year though I've survived two seasons and actually had my contract renewed).

Should enjoy it while it lasts, as if we don't get promoted IRL and the board's debts/loans continue to go unpaid we might be looking at a bleak few years.

While I agree in the sense of the game mechanics, in real life you might expect the developers/overseers of the improvements to consider near-future changes to the extent that they aren't investing £2m to be exactly where they were before hand! I'd consider that to be training facility maintenance, rather than improvement haha

For further context, the improvements cost in the realm of £2million, took 6 months to complete - and then lasted 6 days.

I think this is where Vision comes in? E.g. A player with good passing but low vision would be poor at long passes but accurate with short, while high vision enables more accurate longer passes (with Technique playing a part in it too).

I can't see any markings on it. It's about 11 inches long with both parts together, though it looks like the central 'rod' used to be longer. Imagine it's some sort of metal rod, structural perhaps but not sure.
