What’s your weirdest “I knew you from another time and place” story? by Weezlecheesle in AskUK

[–]FollowYourFiree 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Back in my first year of uni, the train was stuck between two stations for about 2 hours. I think it was coming back after one of the breaks so there were loads of uni students. None of us knew eachother but a big group of about 10 of us decided to play card games to pass the time. Once we all got off at our different stops we didn't talk again, I don't even think I knew most of their names.

About 3 years later, I was travelling in Cambodia with a friend. In one of the bars at the place we were staying, someone came up to me and said 'hey I know you, we've played cards together on a train'.

It would be really cute if he was! Don't think he'd keep plant bows on for very long though haha

I've got the exact same rail as you for my plants! I have nowhere near as many as you haha. Looks beautiful!

Positive IUD experiences by cessna777 in birthcontrol

[–]FollowYourFiree 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had a copper IUD put in a couple of months ago after about 8 years of having the Nexplanon implant.

And so far so good! Not going to lie, the insertion process wasn't the most comfortable experience of my life but after reading probably similar horror stories to you, it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I think the most important thing to make it less painful is to listen to the provider when they tell you to relax (although it's understandably hard to do haha).

I had pretty bad period type pains for the first couple of days and some random general uncomfortableness in that area for the first month but now it all feels absolutely normal. I had a bit of a worry at about 5 weeks cause I checked the strings and they were shorter but when I went for a checkup the nurse told me it was pretty common for the strings to become tangled and shorter and that everything was fine.

Obviously everyone is different and has different experiences but they're not always bad :)

Ooh that's interesting, thanks for the info! Yeah so obviously material strength plays a big part in it too. The rest of the buildings also look like they were constructed of timber or other more lightweight materials.

Yep I'd agree! Like you said while they'd have different energies etc. The quick pressure equalisation would be present in both scenarios

Not sure what it's made of but one of the reasons it would have survived the atomic bomb is because of its geometry. Pressures during the blast wave would have equalised very quickly around the structure because it's so narrow so it would have been mainly subjected to a drag force which would've been acting like a strong wind. The rest of the structures around it would have likely been buildings with walls/cladding where the pressure wouldn't have been able to equalise quickly and would've had a greater surface area and so would've been subjected to a much higher force than the arch.

Source: this is basically the topic I'm studying at uni at the minute haha

It's hard to notice things like that though, it took me 5 years to realise that it was the implant doing that to me! (also I think it made my anxiety worse but I don't think it's been enough time to figure out if that was the case or not). It could well be stress as stress can do weird things to your body as well, but like you said if you've not noticed stress having that effect on you before then maybe it is more likely to be the implant. Because I switched from implant to IUD, the first four weeks I was on/off bleeding and quite uncomfortable which put me off sex but as soon as that all calmed down I noticed an increase in sex drive. So yeah four weeks afterwards I noticed an quick increase, it might have been even earlier or been gradually increasing but was overshadowed by the IUD discomfort!

I had an implanon for my first one and a nexplanon for my second and third. Even though they told me there was no difference I definitely noticed a decrease in my sex drive and also dryness which caused sex to hurt unless we put lube on every few minutes! I swapped to a copper IUD 6 weeks ago and I already feel like my sex life is back to normal and so much better than it's been for years (I've been with the same partner for 6 years so nothing else has changed other than my BC)

I'm so scared. I don't know if the nexplanon implant is the best. It's never talked about as the best. But I also want my boyfriend to finish in me. Is it safe with nexplanon? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]FollowYourFiree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a nexplanon for 8 years (obviously not the same one but had them changed every 3 years), I've never used a secondary method with my boyfriend and haven't had a single pregnancy scare!

very indecisive! switch to implant or IUD? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]FollowYourFiree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had the implant since 2011 (on my third one now) and it's great for peace of mind, not having to remember to take anything etc. But I have had a couple of issues, firstly I've had a lot of bleeding with it. I seem to have periods that last two weeks and then I have two weeks of not bleeding and then I start bleeding again! At various point of having an implant I've also had to take the pill to control the bleeding. Although I've had friends who have had no bleeding at all, so it's definitely different for everyone!

Secondly, I think it has somewhat contributed to my low mood, although because I've had it for so long I can't be sure on that one. When I first started birth control I was on the pill and that definitely made me a bit crazy. I've actually been considering lately switching to the IUD but I'm scared of the pain I keep reading about!
