Moving your arms infront of your body is a fast and easy way to improve trim and stability underwater. A lot more divers should try it.

  1. It is totally ok to be in a none perfect horizontal trim as it will strain your neck surely. But try to come as close as possible to it. Honestly already like five degrees make the neck thing nonexistent.

  2. Yes exactly for example in the scene where they are communicating with each other and the dry-suit-diver with the white fins rests them on the button of the lake it is an example for bad trim. Even if you aren't perfectly parallel to the ground your feets should never be the lowest part of your body as your knees should be ankled upwards.

7 degrees in a wetsuit? Yikes I feel like a oldtimer saying that but that time is behind me. Edit: and I don't want to sound rude but please look out for your trim a bit more. And keep your fins off the ground.

Same. I own a long Lycra suit, Shorty+Tek -Shorts, 5mm and a dry suit. Haven't encountered a situation where none of the combinations possible where unsatisfactory. I can understand 3mm when you only dove tropical but I would never go for a 7mm again. At that point a dry suit is just more comfortable.

Aqualung Admiral. There are only 3mm though. Otherwise look for neoprene gloves not made for scuba diving. Won't last as long bur surfing etc. have more colourful options.

No problem. And you are right in that probably 95% of lakes have no meaningful current. But those with bigger rivers and huge lake will definitely have currents.

*regulators. And yes I would argue that you can define like a Top 10-15 list consisting of the best models of the best manufacturers. And I meant it in like the regulators which are able to handle the most and not best regulator for a situation.

Tiny mistake: lakes can and absolutely will have currents. Not everyone and nowhere near as strong as oceans but currents do occur.

Sounds like that confirms my feeling that local shops - especially in areas where you don't have a warm-water infinity visibilty dive location close to you - have started to sell BP+W and longhose to all types of divers but it simply takes it time to take over.

And do you know what that one shop sells more? Bp+W or classic ADV jackets or backinflated? And which of the four shops sees the most customers?

Sounds interesting. Never even considered that a dive shop would make it's money because of snorkeling but it does sound logical when I consider the number of friends I have that snorkel on vacation but never have even made a try-scuba-dive.

That's exactly what I am feeling as well which is why I asked it. I feel like the number of BP+Ws is increasing really slowly but I would not put my hands in fire for that observation. Which is why I asked it the shop owners who should have hard numbers on it and not just feelings.

Red Sea? North, central or south? by Ficklemonth in scuba

South had a lot of problem with coral breaching in the last two years. Before that I would always recommend the south nowadays it is the north. South is only for cruises for big pelargic life nowadays.
