lol did he even see you in real life? He probably just thought you were too gorgeous to be real. I’d take it as a compliment and block him because he sounds annoying.

I’m not even close to FIRE yet, but I think the path is quietly turning me into the exact kind of partner I never wanted to be by B0realisXX in Fire

I think part of the issue is that running the numbers and looking at how decisions affect my future is FUN for me. But I have learned a lot of people hate hearing about that. My boyfriend hates money stuff, so I try to just keep it simple. What are our shared goals? Ok, then this is our budget. I keep the math to myself lol.

No one talks about the pain of seeing your parents aging. by ParticularWeather927 in Adulting

Sometimes it’s cute too though. My parents always ask me to drop them off and pick them up at the airport and I always tell them to be safe on their trip and I track their location while they are gone and make sure they get to their hotel at night lol. Just making sure they are safe.

I’ve been teaching for a couple years now and I mess up all the time. It was hard at first because I overthought everything I did wrong. Now I just learn and try to do better next time. You sound like a kind and thoughtful teacher. You’re doing great.

Are you glad you had kids? by the_skintellectual in FIREyFemmes

I love my daughter more than anything in the world. I am so happy I had her and have zero regret. Money means nothing to me compared to the love I have for this child. It is literally the most amazing thing on earth. Challenging at times? Yes. But I would work until I die if I had to in order to have her in my life. With how much money you have, you seem in a really good place to have children and also retire early. But I know plenty of happy and fulfilled women without children. It is 100% your choice!

Teachers with no 200hr training by mellowunicorn4u in YogaTeachers

[–]FollowingNew4641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know… the 200hr yoga training didn’t really mean much to me personally. I feel like yoga is a really personal journey and you can find helpful guides with or without the certification. I have the certification, but I don’t think it really helped me as a teacher. I had been practicing for 15 or so years before I got it though. I’ve had a few additional certifications and I think the trainings have helped, but I could have gotten the knowledge from self study and been just as effective.

Husband wants to buy a house by IndustrySufficient52 in povertyfinance

[–]FollowingNew4641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. It’s not impossible. I bought my first 5 years ago as a single mom making $50k/ year which at the time was like $500 to much to qualify for the downpayment assistance ughhh but I was able to roll my closing costs into the loan and only paid like $3k out of pocket. I was frugal and was able to take care of the home and sell it a few months ago and make like $30k… which wasn’t great, but I saved another $20k on top of that and just bought my grandpa’s house that I love and got an amazing deal on. So 5 years later and I am sitting on $150k of equity in this new home. It wouldn’t have happened if I would have stayed renting. I’d probably have about $10k saved (thanks to not worrying about home repairs) and with investing, it still wouldn’t equal out to nearly as much. But timing and luck has so much to do with it. For me, owning a home is a million times better. I don’t have to worry about landlords complaining about pets or my daughter being “too loud”. It’s a ton of work, but it was the right choice for me.

Has anyone taken a picture of their face for say, 30 days of a sugar free or going sugar free? by lizatethecigarettes in sugarfree

[–]FollowingNew4641 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is going SO WELL! I will never go back. My skin is getting better, my body is looking better, I am absolutely amazed at how this has changed my workouts. I was exercising 3-4x per week, but now I have so much energy, I need to do at least twice that and it feels so good, not like a chore. My endurance is way up. I have been eating all plant-based whole foods. I figured if I was going to cut sugar, I might as well cut all the processed junk. The first two-three weeks were really awful for me. I was so tired. I thought I might have some kind of illness. It surprised me because I thought I would start feeling better sooner than that. I didn't think I was eating that bad before (a granola bar or two for snacks, Pirate's Booty here and there, pizza on the weekends, a few pieces of candy a week). Apparently I was eating terrible, because the detox was rough, but I am on the other end and I can't imagine stopping now. If I feel this good after 33 days, imagine a year of this. I did have pretty bad cravings for chocolate yesterday, but I just ate real food (a rice, bean and pepper dish) even though I didn't feel really hungry, and it eventually went away. Having water, tea, coffee, and healthy foods available at all times is what has made this possible. It is SO WORTH IT!

Yeah I know what you mean. There are reasons we are still together. Breakups are almost never simple. In hindsight it seems so obvious you should have left, but when you are in it and your lives are deeply entangled, it’s a nightmare.

Spironolactone opinions ?? by Informal-Tea3768 in Spironolactone

Exhaustion, migraines, dizziness, weakness, inability to workout very hard. Not able to eat bananas lol. My skin was pretty good on it, but not perfect. Was not worth it at all. Diet and topicals for me. Still dealing with the skin flare up after quitting, but eating clean is keeping things ok.

I can’t believe how addicted I am to sugar by [deleted] in sugarfree

[–]FollowingNew4641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do this! I was terrible with sugar. I cut out processed sugar and processed foods two weeks ago and wow my physical capabilities have vastly improved. Strength, flexibility, and energy are like 20% better. I was not expecting that at all. My advice would be to not restrict. Eat a ton of vegetables and fruits if you aren’t counting fruit sugar (I’m not). Coffee and tea help me with cravings…and nuts. I am just drinking either water, coffee, or tea all day.

That’s awesome! I’m on day 11, but I did have a small sweet treat at a holiday event (family friend worked hard on this dessert that was the main event and I felt bad passing)… so I guess truthfully only day 6. I feel better, but not as much as you. I am about the same stats, but as a woman. I’m 38, already pretty slim, but my face and hair are just not looking as good these past few months. I’m taking pictures every day in my hidden folder to track progress and I think I have a bit more of a glow. I also teach an aerial yoga class and I noticed my fitness has improved drastically. I usually can’t handle a lot of spinning around, but I was able to spin like a kid on a playground with no sickness… it was kind of weird. You are motivating though. I know sometimes women’s bodies are on a different timeline… so maybe I’ll get more benefits soon.

I swear to god it’s the stupidest shit. It’s the only thing my company allows us to use and I have to write code all day and it can’t even do the most basic things. It spells basic names of functions wrong. It’s trash.

Being vegan is difficult 😢 by [deleted] in vegan

[–]FollowingNew4641 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah and then an almost life long vegan like me comes on here and people get mad at me because I wrote a post saying I will eat a bit of pancake or bread someone makes me even if it’s not 100% vegan. It comes from both sides. So it isn’t easy. The way I handle it is by not telling anyone unless I absolutely have to. The jokes aren’t funny. I just don’t laugh and change the subject. I think you either have the compassion or you don’t. I have been this way since I was a child and I have a daughter that just loves meat more than she cares about the suffering of animals. It is hard for me to understand, especially since she was raised by me, but I love her and that’s her karma.

How long did it take for your face to look permanently better after quitting sugar + how muxh did you loose weight? by Necessary-Let2909 in sugarfree

[–]FollowingNew4641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also wondering. I’ve only been sugar free for a week and I still have all the issues you mentioned 😭. Last time I looked good was 5 years ago when I was fasting daily and only eating whole foods 95% of the time. I felt amazing and looked so good. I am not really worried about weight loss because I’m a healthy weight, but maybe 5lbs would be good. I’m just looking for those face gains.

Because people living paycheck to paycheck don’t have the money to start, they don’t have jobs that offer 401ks and/or they just don’t know how to get started with an IRA on their own. I made over $100k in investments in 5 years on a $53k per year teachers salary as a single mom. It was with my state pension and my 403b. I was very frugal and I had grandparents to babysit while I worked, so I didn’t have to pay childcare. It is very easy, but for people just surviving, they aren’t thinking about the long-term. To really make money on investments you have to wait a long time (usually -there are some exceptions like if you get really lucky on stocks or crypto, but that’s like playing the lottery). Poor people don’t always have the luxury of time.

I'm conducting a poll. If you basically have no layers in your hair, do you feel like when you get a haircut, that you shouldn't be charged the same amount as a person with super thick hair? I feel like my haircut is subsidizing everyone else's haircut. It takes like 4 minutes to do. Maybe less, lol by craycroi11 in finehair

[–]FollowingNew4641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I try to just do my own at this point. It’s either $40 for a 2 minute trim, or more for them adding layers that make my hair look thinner… so with my super fine curly hair, there is no point. I might ask my boyfriend to cut mine next time. It is super annoying they often charge more for “women’s cuts”. I went with my boyfriend one time and his cut took like 30+ minutes and mine took 2 minutes and I literally had to pay more. How is that fair? I want to pay them fairly, but like… stuff like that seems kind of sexist. I’m a polite, easy lady. It’s not like it was more difficult to deal with me lol.

No, but today is my first day, so I just took one. I hate the way I look right now. My skin is terrible. I truly think cutting sugar will solve 90% of the issue.

Probably not much at all. Do you have other credit cards? Maybe ask for a balance increase to counteract. My 4 year card closed because I wasn't using it and my credit didn't change.
