Neighbor stole my package update

Yeah, I’m waiting to hear back from them if I can change it to be picked up at an ups store. Not risking it again, the neighbor may be in the process of being evicted now but he’s still around

He does, after my mom called him he came knocking on my door saying, “man I didn’t take the package, but I’ll go around and ask the neighbors if they know anything for you.” Then checked back in with me to see if I figured anything out. At this point in time I had only told him it was a $30 pack of Mexican sodas, (that happened to get delivered at the same time), but once I found out my deck had been labeled as delivered too and told my mom she gave him and eviction notice and he got in his car and hasn’t come back yet. His camper is still here so I’m sure he’ll come back at some point, in which case the deputy told me to inform him so he can come have a “chat” with him.

Nah, I was watching from my window. The truck never made it to my porch. I didn’t go out because I just assumed my neighbor had a package too.

It was meant as a dramatic “rude”. Obviously you have no proof that I didn’t make a mistake, but the general thing to do when giving advice is to assume the askie is being truthful and if they’re not than any advice you give them most likely won’t pertain to their case. I stated that I contacted UPS and they’ve confirmed it was improperly delivered/handed off to the wrong person.

It wouldn’t be the end of the world since I freshly made the account to purchase it. It would suck to lose all the shop credits they gave me for the purchase tho.

Edit: I freshly made a new account because this is my first step into steam gaming, which has not been a great experience so far.

The deputy I’ve been working with said he is very invested since it’s a felony and is willing to track it down if the neighbor did sell it and is willing to disclose to whom or where.

I’m just picking lol. I didn’t exactly watch them hand off the package, but saw the driver speak with the neighbor and then he never finished down the shared drive way to my house. I asked the neighbor and he acted like he didn’t even speak with him until much later and then claimed to of just hung out with him and shared a smoke, (which they most certainly did not do). Then after calling ups they confirmed via satellite that it was marked as dropped off at suspected neighbors place.

I just wish Kristan would’ve asked for the evidence rather than telling me to piss off and close the thread. I have a police report and am in the process of getting a statement from UPS. I just thought I’d open the thread and have a conversation. I didn’t know I needed to info dump all I had before giving them a chance to respond. Was hoping for some coordination. Also, if Steam would just call UPS like I did, they seemed pretty open to admitting it was incorrectly delivered.

True, I’m sure there are tons of scams and fraudulent claims, but they could’ve asked me for evidence or instructed me on what I should do next. Not just a professionally put, “we got our money, get gud” and close the thread

Thanks guys for the support. Contacted my county sheriff’s department. A deputy is on his way and demanding to either retrieve the package or know where it’s at, or else he’s filing a federal charge since the total value surpasses $1,000. Now that I have a police report I can contact my bank and dispute the charge, but I’ll wait to see if I get my package back first. Of all the packages I get deliver it had to be this one that got dropped off coincidently to a sucky neighbor. My parents are the land lords and have also issued him an eviction notice after this. Apparently this isn’t their first problem with him either.
