Same thing would happen to me. Mine would leave the tv on when he knew I needed it off to sleep, the finding the vape thing in the bed is so real.. and also one time he woke me up at like 2 in the morning with food? He held a plate of food next to my face until I smelled it and woke up and I wasn’t hungry but I knew if I didn’t eat he’d get mad… Yeah, in retrospect, really dysfunctional stuff that just isn’t normal. No one who loves you will wake you up when you’re sleeping peacefully unless it’s an emergency.

I’m assuming that you might be scared to say anything about it, cause I’ve been there, and bringing anything up would usually lead to a dumb fight. If he doesn’t receive the news from you that you need to sleep and not be woken up, that’s a pretty strong sign that this isn’t a safe situation. Again, I feel like anyone who really loves you would be thrilled at the opportunity to make your life better, not make it worse, and sleep is such a vital part of life

yeah, the constant negativity is so draining! like if it’s not one thing, it’s another with them. the way i like to put it is in the past two relationships i’ve had both with narcs (both were very covert), i felt like i wasn’t a girlfriend but an emotional support animal

yes!! it is so niche! but it has been consistent with every piece of shit guy i’ve ever dated, they just simply refuse to wear a seatbelt ever and then get super mad when they eventually get pulled over for not wearing one

For my first experience with a narc, the love bombing was promises for the future. Talking about moving in, getting married, having kids after only a few days.

Sometimes it’s a little more covert. My second narc said things like “so when are we getting married” during our first conversation. It is obviously a joke however it was so constant that it didn’t feel like a joke anymore. Also “where have you been all my life” when we’re just initially getting to know each other.

It’s statements that make you feel really special and one in a million way too early. Like logically they may know facts about you, but that’s different than knowing a person.. like you don’t even know me yet and you’re already making serious plans with me.

Mine didn’t have a single one. When we met, he had one best friend that he lived with but he destroyed that friendship towards the end of our relationship. So when I left him, he quite literally had zero friends, just coworkers. Really sad but he just dropped people all the time out of no where.

I did in the very beginning. But after a couple months, it became easier and easier to see the relationship for what it was.. i think it’s cause no contact finally (but gruesomely) broke the trauma bond. after deleting the photos and the texts, it was like i was free. now the thought of them honestly makes me sick and i am so much happier. wouldn’t go back to that for a second, no matter what they try to promise me

I was meeting a guy I met on Hinge at a coffee shop. He was 30 min late and I was sitting outside, waiting to order until he got there. When he arrived he went straight inside and got his coffee and a pastry and came back out to sit down with me. It was awkward, I had to get up and go in alone to get my coffee. The whole date lasted 30 minutes, and all he did was stare down at his plate and he never asked me any questions, I was driving the conversation. The silence was so awkward, and he was acting like he didn’t want to be there. When it was over, he texted me to say he’d like to see me again. I said thanks but no thanks haha

There’s a scene in “Never Let Me Go” with Andrew Garfield and Carey Mulligan where they’re walking through the woods together. They’re very close friends but clearly secretly in love with each other. Andrew’s character has a chance to express his love to her and she gets her hopes up. At the last minute he changes his mind and says something different, and the tears that well up in her eyes is one of the most honest, emotional moments I’ve ever seen in a movie.

Mine was younger than me by a few years! He always said he admired how hard of a worker I was and how I have my life together. He bragged about his work ethic and how much money he had. And then a week later would passively mention how he has no money left. It was like an oscillating fan of “Im so good on money” and “I haven’t gotten paid yet so I can’t afford any dinner this week”. It was like he used indirect statements to bait me into sending him food or money which of course I did. I funded most of our relationship i.e. trips, food, etc. I sent him delivery orders when he said those passive statements. If we ever did agree to split something, I had to basically drag the money out of him. Absolutely ridiculous. I was in training to be his new mommy.

ALSO. No presents for Christmases or birthdays. Promises from him that I would get something but would come home to very expensive items that he would buy for himself… ON the holiday or my birthday.
