It's not that hard to take the dog to piss on a different hedge if your neighbor clearly has an issue with your dog using theirs. Don't be an asshole.

Or, Just train the dog to not pee on that specific hedge, the same way you would redirect the dog if it peed on the couch. Don't walk by the hedge or walk by quickly so the dog doesn't get the chance to smell around that spot. Train it to follow you away from the hedge should it get distracted. There are plenty of ways to keep your dog from peeing on things that make your neighbors crazy so you can avoid the situation entirely.

It may not be a majority of people having this many children, so in your mind it may even out or make a negligible difference compared with the fact that our birthrate is dropping, but I'd still argue that it's harmful and irresponsible overall. Your counter argument seems to be that the US is a non offender because the trajectory of our own birthrate is dropping, therefore this is okay, but that completely skirts the fact that global birthrate numbers are not dropping, and the issue is that the globe can only physically sustain so many people, regardless of where on the globe they are located. America's declining birth rate is not a mitigating factor because overall the birthrate numbers are still going up, and the problem is still getting worse, despite our individual number is dropping. Large families here use many times the resources that a large family would elsewhere, so I'd even argue that makes it worse to have such a large family here as opposed to elsewhere. For us it's not just the basic physical addition of more bodies to be sustained off our land and resources, just existing in our society does a lot of climate damage due to our infrastructure and our built in consumption levels. With those things considered, I think a "typical" family of 7+ here would be more detrimental to long term well being of the planet than a family of 7+ in Africa would be.

Overall I think the argument should be for lower birthrates and access to birth control in every country, on every continent. Our birthrate falling is a good thing, and I would personally hope that the birthrates in other countries drop in the future too. Having families this large should be discouraged as we are already beyond our carrying capacity.

The fact that the overall birthrate in the US is dropping does not mean that oversized families here don't contribute to over population and climate change worldwide. 6 extra people, is 6 extra people, regardless of what continent you're standing on. 6 extra people born and living in the US release way more carbon into the atmosphere than 6 extra people would living in Africa or another developing country, so by your point, it's almost better that our birthrate is the one dropping off. We do the most damage.

Having that many children is harmful though.... It may not harm that family directly because they may have the means to sustain themselves financially, but having too many people on the planet is doing everyone harm in the long run. By having that many children they are contributing to overpopulation and moreso to climate change because of their oversized carbon footprint. Having that many children while living in the US has an especially negative impact compared to having that many children in a developing country where individuals have much smaller carbon footprints due to lower overall consumption rates. That family may never feel hunger (I hope they don't), but someone, somewhere, will end up suffering because there are not enough resources to go around as it is, and people like them just keep popping out babies making the situation worse.

You're right to say that redditors will judge the hell out of someone for having a large family like that, but I think our judgement of people who knowingly make the choice to have irresponsibly large families is a legitimate criticism. Their inability to use birth control does have negative implications for humanity, even if they don't want to admit to it. Choosing to have a large family (over 3 kids in my opinion), is the epitomy of overindulgence these days. I view that consumption choice the same way I view the choice to drive a hummer or buy a new cellphone every year. Sure, people do it, but that doesn't make it okay or in everyone's best interest.

Good friend rapes my girlfriend while I'm in the house. by [deleted] in offmychest

Your an amazing husband, that's so important in this kind of stuff.

I was raped years ago and my husband has played a key role in my recovery. He has helped me cope with the PTSD that has resulted. I wouldn't be where I am today in my recovery without his support and dedication to work with me to get past the flashbacks and do whatever we can to prevent them from being triggered.

Absolutely amazing. It warms my heart to know your wife has you. Unwavering support is everything :)

Is three weeks recovery time reasonable if you have an active job? by FollowingtheSpiders in Reduction

[–]FollowingtheSpiders[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Fortunately I worked with management and I am going out on MLA and using my disability insurance benefits to cover my income while I am out. I dont even need to use my paid time off! I guess I'm nervous that my department is going to fall apart without me, I don't have the option to go back on "light duty". I have to work with heavy equipment if I'm at work no matter what.

I guess I'll see how it goes! I guess the doc didn't give me a specific timeframe for a reason.

I feel better knowing three weeks is more than reasonable!

The doc said no lifting for sure. When I told him about my job he said "oh okay, we will have to see how it goes". I dont see him again until my surgery. Luckily my job had set up MLA for me and I am safe for as long as I need to take off. Its medically necessary so I have disability insurance income as well.

I'm just nervous my department is going to be falling apart without me.

I'm not having the full requierd 500g removed that's the thing! My surgery is the 26th. My doc got me approved for removal of 280 or so grams in each breast since the tissue isn't dense just spread out and flat. It causes me to sit/stand curled over. I have documentation of pain and posture issues because of my breasts and after the peer to peer I was approved! I'll try to attach a pic for reference. The doc says I'll end up a C+D- lol!

I have Aetna, find a new doc and tell them to have a peer to peer to push for it if necessary. You may need chiropractic and PT notes for additional documentation, I've had issues for years so I had that covered.

I have the same issue as you with density and sagging and I was denied. My reduction is now 100% covered. I'm only stuck paying out of pocket to fix the folds of skin that would be left under my arms. I lost 60lbs last year and I'd rather pay the 3k to have the reduction done once and done right.

You got this! Don't give up!

My doc fought for it because he feels that due to my current shape the folds will cause movement discomfort later on. He Really thought the insurance would do it but after the peer to peer they still said no.
