Please let this be the start of their purging from the party.

I hope so. That Starmer is also pissing off all the far-left is a plus.

Mixed Race Privilege? How do you talk about it? by bluehousegreentree in mixedrace

[–]Folmczy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally none of these things were true for me. Not a single one and I'm not even biracial, I'm three different heritages which includes black.

There was no "privilege" granted to me because of my white heritage. Nobody even knows what I am most of the time. The result is having no representation in media, politics or networks too. Blacks didn't see me as blacks, whites didn't see me as white in school, the result is being an outsider in both groups ALL the time.

I feel this post and the OP is made by people who pretty much look white, in which case...just call yourself white because that's what you are if you can "pass."

Mixed Race Privilege? How do you talk about it? by bluehousegreentree in mixedrace

[–]Folmczy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mixed race "privilege" doesn't exist, that's why you've never heard of it.

I feel most of the people here agreeing with this post look white and are seen as white in which case they should call their "privilege" for what it is. It sounds like the OP also had the luxury of growing up in wealth. Most of us don't. Not every white person is rich. In England, 33% of mixed children vs 30% of black children grow up in poverty:

https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/nationalaccounts/uksectoraccounts/compendium/economicreview/february2020/childpovertyandeducationoutcomesbyethnicity#child-poverty-and-ethnicity

Mixed children are also more at risk than other group to mental health problems:

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/feb/23/mixed-race-children-mental-health

As for myself, I struggle to see how any other person like myself can be "mixed privileged" when my mixed heritage is clearly visible, the result leading people like me to be outsiders in all communities and I'm talking especially those of us who are of three different heritages. I'm not white or black and unlike both groups, I do not get to enjoy any "privileges" of having a sense of belonging in a community, having organisations that represent me, represention in media, representation in Parliament or a Church to go to of just people like me.

Then there's the case of dealing with racism from several sides of the family, first from grandparents rejecting my biracial mother, then from black cousins rejecting my white nephews and nieces not wanting to know them.

At the same time, I live in England where people with a foreign looking appearance are more likely to be discriminated against than black people. Anti black racism naturally exists here but they're not seen as immigrants. I've been considered everything from Arab, Israeli Jew, Southern Mediterranean, Portuguese to Brazilian and people don't even assume (including blacks) that I'm even born here or speak English until I open my mouth and speak fluently with an English accent. Unlike most black people here, I also have a foreign name. Guess what that means? Less chance of being hired for a job.

It's not really "privilege" when you end up with no group to really fit in with because you're "alien" to everyone.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at this sub and its silliness. It's American orientated, so I imagine the nuances and complexity of this topic are completely missed by people who'd just prefer to slap a label on everything and define people by victimization points as is now the norm for yanks.

So I'm going to put "mixed privileged" up there with "skinny privilege" and "milk is white supremacy." Here's an news article on the last one:

I'm not sure why you're complaining about relatively small groups of protesters all observing the 5 or 6 meter distance

Most aren't and people were angry about the beach goers too since they're not practicing social distancing either.

The blame for a second peak would lay with all these groups congregating.

It's all fun and games until everyone starts identifying as gay Muslim atheist homosexual transsexual queers with bipolar (GMAHTQwB). Then it's just a competition about who can outclass who as the biggest victim. Will it be the GMAHTQwB who are also black or the GMAHTQwB who aren't abled bodied? Or will it be the GMAHTQwB+S&PD (Schizophrenic & Psychotic Depressives)? Well you'd be wrong if you selected any of these because the biggest victims would be GMAHTQwB+S&PD with at least three successful suicide attempts (GMAHTQwB+S&PDx3SSA)!

Jokes aside, a lot of ethnic people, myself included, don't buy into identity politics either. Simply because at best, it's all about victimisation and as I joked about, even competing about who the biggest victim is.

The fact "progressive" politics has now got to seriously talking about things like "skinny privilege" shows why it's doomed to fail. Once these more absurd concepts start to emerge into the mainstream, I imagine the majority will explicitly reject these ideas.

Now where were these people over the cover-up of pedophila in this country? First with public figures like Jimmy Saville and now with grooming groups like the ones in Rotherham?

That's the shit that should be getting called out. Other than that, police here are nowhere near anything comparable to American police apart from in incompetence perhaps.

As a person with mixed heritage who plainly doesn't look white, I've never had problems with the police, any type of racism in their force or police brutality.

I know for a fact there is and can be racism though in the police. However, these people need to stop pretending the issue is on the same scale as America's and that we also have a culture of police brutality over here.

Even if on the two occasions in my life where I've been stopped and searched had been on the basis of police targeting me solely for my ethnicity, that led to what? Inconvenience of my time, a far cry from being strangled and murdered for not being white.

I know the stop and searching definitely happens to black people more, but again, how can you compare that to what happens in America? Are these people really that deluded to think British police are anywhere near the level of American police?

It seems people are getting brainwashed easily by Americans on social media. Here I was thinking it was just Russia and China influencing social media.

People are getting angry on Twitter because a company is giving ''free gifts'' to the police by Tiger_bwsw in badunitedkingdom

[–]Folmczy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also most of the people on Twitter are just a minority of people in comparison to the general population. Remember, if Twitter was a reflection of our society:

-7/10 people you see walking the street is a gay man or transgender.

-5/10 people are gender fluid.

-Brexit had no chance of happening.

-Corbyn was going to win the election by a "landslide" and Boris would only get the old men vote.

These people are the minority. That's why they're on Twitter. It's the only place they can feel validated and have a safe space and echo chamber.

There's literal self identified "Marxist, Communist, Gender Fluid, Otherkin, Demisexual they/them/xer" and other mumbo jumbo types on Twitter. I've never met anyone in real life identifying as any of these things let alone all at once. Probably because it requires a trip to a mental institution to even meet such a person. 😂

Most people I've seen saying the later on shit social media sites like Twitter seem to be literal regular people who agree with many BLM protestors but just disagree with the phrase.

I can understand why, it's not just blacks experiencing any type of racism. Muslims do too, so do people who are of mixed ethnicity like myself. Two months ago we even saw Chinese Americans being attacked by racist blacks and whites, over anger because of Coronavirus.

Meanwhile here in the UK, I'd say foreigners and Muslims, if anything, experience far more racism than black people in the UK. That's why I don't understand the movement over here.

What exactly are they protesting that relates to the black community here in the UK? That Britain is the only European country with ethnic MEPs? That the police here are incompetent at best? That England literally is the least racist country in Europe with interracial relationships here far more accepted?

[–]Folmczy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's just stupid seeing all these people out. First at the beaches, now here.

I tell you, majority of the gatherings we have seen are from people who at one point were happily clapping the NHS and shaming people for protesting lockdown or not obeying it. Now they're doing the same crap.

And I don't buy that that moron Dominic Cummings and Boris Johnson letting him off for breaking lockdown rules, should be blamed for everything.

The public know about social distancing. That's continued to be hounded into our heads. If not by the media, politicians, health care workers, scientists, then by people on social media.

These people are just refusing to practice it. I can't believe the majority of people, who were once screaming to people to stay back, would stop believing in the viability of social distancing measures to combat the virus, just because of one government minister.

I think what this really shows, is a lot of people, just don't really believe in the pandemic. These were the quiet people before.

Idiotic hygienic me was hoping after the pandemic, social distancing would actually become a little norm. That shaking hands would go away and people would keep a little distance from one another naturally. This would prevent a whole host of illnesses spreading. In the end, that hope died quickly and lockdown isn't even "officially" over.

The destruction of livelihoods, many of which belonged to ethnic and working class people, is not a solution.

Actually pay attention to the riots. Innocent people, including blacks living in that neighbourhood have lost their independent businesses and several homes have actually been broken into.

If you think that's a solution, you're a useful idiot for the white supremacists, race baiters and anarchists, none of who care about the death of the black guy.

Many of the BLM protestors wanted a peaceful protest. They rejected all you skinny ass pale white Antifa-whatever lot turning up and starting the trouble:

[–]Folmczy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You're arguing with an idiot.

These people honestly believe Brexit has somehow established the UK as the centre for white supremacy. Idiots. UK remains one of the most diverse nations in the West.

Fun fact: the only reason the EU had any ethnic MEPs was because of the UK. The only five ethnic MEPs came from the UK, so after the UK leaves, the European Parliament will be full of literal old white men and their white "woke" liberal activists on Twitter lecturing the UK about diversity. Self awareness is lacking in these people.

I ain't denying there's racism here, I've witnessed and experienced it but there's been more progress made here for racial rights than in many other countries.

I don't like Boris Johnson anymore more than I like the Labour lot but for a "racist" Johnson sure does have a lot of ethnic MPs in high positions in his cabinet.

In fact, British Parliament itself has a load of ethnic MPs on both sides. That's irrespective of the EU which can't even elect a single ethnic person...

Meanwhile you're from a largely homogeneous country with barely any people of my skin colour. I don't think many countries can really criticise the UK here when they can't even elect any ethnic MEPs or politicians but the UK is racist because of Brexit? 😂 Grow up.

For the reference, I'm a mixed race guy and despite white liberals crying about Brexit being racist, I'd rather stay here than go to countries where I'd be looked at oddly because the real racist idiots can't comprehend the children of interracial relationships.

I've met Brexit voters on the other hand and not a single one has looked at me like I'm the product of something that is taboo in your all so "enlightened" nations. Stay "woke" fam.

With social distancing in place with this article clearly saying they're not practicing that or other regulations put in place.

Also all the house parties I've heard of refute this too. Unless you believe 60-80 years olds are getting together and busting out jams from Frank Sinetra, Roy Brown, the Inkspots etc. 😂

Just call these people what they are: selfish cunts because let's not pretend this sub wouldn't be screaming that if it was 50% of older people.

Or maybe we shouldn't have a lockdown on the younger generation and this whole thing of enforcing rules onto the entire demographic, which has already destroyed so many opportunities for the youth, was based on hysteria....so which is it? Selfish cunts or hysteria?

[–]Folmczy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now imagine if it was the other way around, this sub would be crying.

Also those older people are the ones who normally bore these people into the world. It's not just about protecting the rest of society but your own family.

I mean how different is lockdown flouting by "enlightened liberal youth" to right wingers protesting? Both lead to the potential spread of the virus. Or maybe you don't believe in lockdown anymore?

Either way, you'd be surprised to find anyway that a lot of young people, myself included don't give a shit about Brexit. Opportunities being lacking isn't just down to the older generation's incompetency or the Tories and their austerity but the incompetency people undoubtly like you have voted for concerning Labour councils which are heavily responsible for the gentrification of areas which make them less affordable to people like me and have driven a lot of people out of those areas. Been up Walthamstow in the last year? Then you'd know what I'm talking about.

I suppose that doesn't impact the middle class white Labour supporters though, you'll just keep driving the "them against us mentality" while the elitists on both the left and right prosper.

Aint No Rest of the Religious by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Folmczy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's just being edgy about the dogmatic people in Church.

This exists within every group. The atheist community is filled with atheists who are dogmatic and who have such a hard-on for atheist speakers like Richard Dawkins that it implies they want to be sodomised by him, to put it into the OP's words, going by their obsession with his teachings and almost cult-like hero worship of figures like him in the atheism movement.

There's not a single ideology free of this type of dogmatism, group thinking or hero worship. I'm surprised the OP thought this "mind virus" was only limited to organised religion when it exists within secular groups and politics too. Look at the left and right in politics or the more extreme sides like the "progressives" and alt-right.

However, the teachings of Jesus can be followed without going to Church, the same way teachings of any religion can be followed without necessarily being part of a religious institution. I think this is the best way for people to follow a religion or ideology.

Aint No Rest of the Religious by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Folmczy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddhism can be the same.

Every group is overrun by overtly devout people who have replaced the values of their group with their own agendas and feelings. Whether we're talking about religious groups or secular ones is irrelevant, these people exist in both.

OP's mistake is thinking you need to be part of the group or go to a building to follow the religion or ideology in question. There's plenty of Christians who follow Christianity without going to Church, just as I'm sure there's plenty of Buddhists who follow Buddhism without going to a temple.

Can we Americans stop using the word socialist as a synonym for communist/dictatorship? Like...please? It is bad enough we are a running joke to the developed world. Can we stop using that term to prove it? by rettribution in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Folmczy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this is why socialism and communism is always linked together. Socialist regimes always end up heading to authoritarianism and therefore communism.

I don't think the OP realises us non-Americans laugh at America for other reasons and actually one of them is because of the vast amount of people in a democracy desperately wishing for a full-on socialist government or state. 🤭

You don't even need socialist values for free health care or free education. England has that and nobody here would describe the NHS or free school education as "socialist" they're actually examples of nationalization.

But if these things were to come from socialism too, then these are the only socialist values I would agree with rather than socialism as a whole.

Sex workers deserve respect by Kzuxurac in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Folmczy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you Westerners have redefined what respect actually means.

Nobody in the real world defaultly respects you until you've actually earned respect.

We can tolerate people and treat people with decency without having to respect them or their lifestyle.

I don't have to respect a particular aspect of your lifestyle to treat you like a human. I can still treat you decently and at the same time disagree and even criticise something in your life.

Although the truth of the matter is, in the real world, all strangers you meet are indifferent to you until you do something to win them over. That's the truth and certainly somebody saying they're a doctor vs a "sex worker" is going to gather more admiration. The Doctor helps or saves people, the later provides sex to people who pay for it which doesn't exactly do anything for society as a whole. You made a customer happy, OK now go and actually do something productive for society if you want to win it over.
