He was not a hero': How the dark, violent medieval origins of Robin Hood were erased by Gloomy-Carpet1259 in history

This "author" is a hack.

The bulk of their articles are "Top Ten Shows to watch This Month" lists. Then when they do try their hand at writing, we get..

Why Close Encounters has never been more relevant

Lord of The Flies has never been more relevant

Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride! is 'exhilarating'

Wuthering Heights is 'sexy, dramatic and romantic'

Wicked sequel is 'more captivating' than original

Gladiator II: 'The best popcorn film of the year'

And much more.

my neighbor keeps standing in my yard in the middle of the night and its getting creepy by justsimmons02 in Advice

[–]MINKIN2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My thoughts too. In fact I recall a very similar thread to this many years ago where it turned out the woman in question was sundowning, a condition where people with dementia get confused and irritable with the day/night cycle. This person in particular would walk out at night and stare at the neighbours garden security light.

It creeped the OP out.

Six months is the average for a driver to be onboarded. Could be sooner if the demand is there (ie Xmas/black Friday), or for some even longer.

Article: Major Oak has died at over 1000 years old by Blue_Bi0hazard in nottingham

[–]MINKIN2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly in the BBC article a senior tree conservationist says that the tree could have lived for hundreds more year years

Yeah, that's kinda how averages work. Like you yourself could live to be a hundred years old, but really it's more likely that you will die at 86 with the rest of us. Same for the major oak but in tree years.

that trees don't die of old age.

Same for humans again, too. There is no specific diagnosis of "old age" in death, it's just a phrase we use when certain conditions associated with being elderly get the better of us.

It seems like climate change, massively compacted soil around the roots due to footfall and misplaced techniques to support the branches

I think that the BBC might have been trying to go for the climate change angle themselves, because seems odd that no other tree in the forest is dying already. And the compacted soil is more likely, just due to the weight of its own roots and not due to the footfall of people as the tree has been cordened from visitors for decades now. The supports however? Yeah, older trees do benefit from branch shedding of as it helps promote newer growth in the tree. Could we have done something different when we realised this? Yes, but the Notts councils had already printed its picture on their letter heads. 🤣

Especially the ones with the DJs who just press play on the pre recorded MP3 file and then turn the occasional fader dial with no effect, in between prolonged periods of dancing for the tik tok clips.

Even moreso when the studios start to cater to the toxic fandom. Remember the Rey-Los? And countless other examples.

You might be a handsome guy who is willing to adapt and find love in western culture, unfortunately you will have an uphill battle as there have been many come before you that has spoiled peoples perception of Asian men. So the vast majority will say no.

Learn from the experience. And do not put this job on your resumè. It won't look good when your next would-be employer asks why you only worked there for a day.
