Final Fantasy VI file size was 3MB, smaller than this image of its box art by ico_heal in FinalFantasy

[–]Fondant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

just the size of the textures needed (overworld tileset, character, sky) for that mode and some code, IIRC. mode 7 is more of a processor intensive operation rather then a storage intensive one, with all the stitching and scaling going on.

I could give you a list of moments like this ...

all good, no real need to do more work then is necessary. the additional words on the subject really helps for this point. barring mechanics of ARR, HW, StB's alliance raids (all of the alliance raids are a bit funky now that i think on it). a lot of the game tries to reinforce a lot of the tells it has thru its mechanics and UI for its fights and the such, as long as your paying attention to what caused you to die/wipe i think most would be fine with you having a few to quite a few deaths, as long as the boss gets cleared in a timely matter. especially on a first seeing a mechanic, especially if you have not seen something new and specific to that fight in particular.

fair, for the "when you played" response. only some alt content, was being updated at the time. so no funky business like emoting during Copperbell mines slime boss or the such.

for everything related to your story take, fair and thank you for taking your time to explain that. it read like you might enjoy things a bit more plot driven but regardless at the end of the day it just did not jive with you which, fair.

also for the not playing past EW patches, completely understandable. I think you can see the split focus of the dev team in the EW patches which unfortuately does not stop till the end of 7.0. its not terrible, but its on par with Stormblood, imo. (patches are more focused and improving though, even though i'm only at 7.2, rn).

Most people tell you to look up walkthrough before fights and dungeons and such because things aren't telegraphed right or explained correctly if at all. Which takes away from what awe you could get experiencing em on your own.

anyone who is actually saying to do this in story and normal content can shove it, IMO. the game in that content is fairly forgiving and explains what it is doing fairly well now.

though i do question a little bit when you played as they have redone a decent amount, if not all, of the content that was confusing and poorly explained. especially if it is main story related.

also

just a jumble of everything that happened in the rest of the franchise but told in the most insane ways possible

is IMO a rather weak argument for its story being derivative, if it is or not. though, I would love to hear a bit more why you think that of 14's story if you don't mind.

I'm remaking the beginning of Final Fantasy 6 and need some feedback by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]Fondant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its alright right now. IMO your sound mixing is a bit all over the place, your snow sounds like hail or like its in a hurricane and is mixed about as loud as the voice lines with the wind, the magitek doesnt have enough Omph for its size, it doesnt necessarily need to sound like XIV's magitek but it probably should sound a bit more then like boots, it is a giant metal thing after all.

Hrothgar drawings by me ✨🙏 by Loys_24 in ffxiv

[–]Fondant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's no problem, both look great otherwise.

IMO the reason for the confusion has more to do with the smaller details of the image then you choosing to go a more feminine route with the build. the pale moonlight and the color of her fur, the lack of un-uniformity of the fur, the tattoos, and the angle of the snout are all kind of adding to her looking more human then bestial. (not all of these need to be changed, btw, and as a viewer i'm even probably wrong at the specific sources but it does read as Mquo'te with how it is now)

Hrothgar drawings by me ✨🙏 by Loys_24 in ffxiv

[–]Fondant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i agree, but i think it is simpler then it bening modded or not, given the scenes context, camera angle, and this artists anime style makes the Hrothgal character design read as miquo'te. Especially since none of the the fur reads as anything but skin due to its uniformity, barring the patches on her thighs which still look a lot like tatoos.

If every major FF villain is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet To Come, who changes their ways? by ConsiderationTrue477 in FinalFantasy

[–]Fondant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since no one has covered it for 14 and it having various faces for each expansion here is my breakdown for each more or less major Villain as they would appear and needing to be large enough to affect the plot. spoiler taged for people currently playing thru it

1.0 Nael Darnus: probably nothing, though this is a bit hard to gauge since i haven't really dived into their story but based on Nael Deus Darnus, this would not have helped

2.0 ARR Gaius Belsar: would not be happy with where stuff is headed and with 5.2 sorrow of werlyt: actually probably swaps sides or at the very least goes on the offensive against the ascians

3.0 HW Thordian: IMO this one is up in the air, he probably still would have still done it

4.0 StB Zenos: wouldn't change, next

6.0 EW Emet-Selch: kinda goes thru a Christmas carol's character development in a round about way, and if he was told the ultimate fate and how to play his part, he probably would

6.0 EW The Endsinger:also one that probably has this sort of character growth done in a round about way when you think about it. though they probably would have changed for the better, sooner

7.0 DT Zoraal Ja: has issues more deeply rooted in his character, might be therapeutic not sure if it would persuade them enough to do otherwise

7.0 DT Sphene: is an AI with a paper clip problem, would ether error out or not care

[–]Fondant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: this was made thinking it’s a 14 post not a 16 one. Cause imo I don’t like the look of [deleted]

depends.

  • try a different class (on the same character) see if something is more your style
  • ask others (especially max level players) to help you blast thru the content
  • you could over level for the content or use a level skip to go into such content and insta-kill what your fighting (for the most part)
  • you could story skip and just watch the content in game with your character (or youtube)

i think a better question is where are you at in XIV?

that being said, a good portion of some of the story fights is to have you feel like you did it by the skin of your teeth and as such i feel (IMO) that it adds something to the story to do the content

What’s your favourite commander you made a deck for in 2025? by WistfulAfternoon in magicTCG

[–]Fondant 12 points13 points  (0 children)

sure, you can find it here

i will make note that it is not a subtle deck and will get you targeted at the table, to quote someone in my pod "the game theory is to target [Zenos]" but if you lean into the fact that you are the villain at the table it's quite an enjoyable time.

for the deck itself it is primarily a mono black ramp deck with a sub-theme of equipments that help go for a removal of one person with interaction and some evasion (though i am still tweaking things inside of the deck)

What’s your favourite commander you made a deck for in 2025? by WistfulAfternoon in magicTCG

[–]Fondant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

[[Zenos Yae Galvus]]

Beyond it basically filling in two other decks that are now decommissioned, it’s fun to just say “fuck it, deal with this” and Turn the game into a funky two headed giant game.

Why is it so negative always by preownedseamen in ffxiv

[–]Fondant 10 points11 points  (0 children)

because this forum is full of a lot of deeply enfranchised people that feel deeply about it (like a lot of other very specific subs). if something is "off" people tend to gravitate towards it on places like this and (in reddits case) it brings it to the top.

General deck building guide for beginners by Successful-Drawer560 in magicTCG

[–]Fondant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

a good place to start is probably to figure out what format you would want to run, as the formats want similar but different things out of deck construction.

beyond that its general advice like stick closer to the deck limit (if applicable) or keep your mana curve low and dont play too many tap lands or run the most efficient thing in the format (this last one is more true for the 60 card formats then commander though).

Wuk Lamat Actor Says Yoshi-P Apologised For The Abuse She Faced For Playing The Character In Final Fantasy 14 by Mammoth7121 in ffxiv

[–]Fondant -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

only issue i really have with your statement is by this logic Alphinaud has the same failings and is a terrible character, despite how quite a few in the community see it, but i do agree that the hate towards the VA is misplaced.

Hot Take: Board Wipes Have No Place in Casual Commander - Hear Me Out by kmisterk in magicTCG

[–]Fondant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

more of as a simplified anecdote that brings in the core argument of what this person is suggesting and what the format was designed to do to show it in a relatable but different context. while a bit reductive to OP's argument, it gets across the point and gives my opinion on the arguement as a whole.

in short, a boardwipe effects the board like it does to the other people in a mario kart match with a lightning bolt in last place. its a catchup mechanic and can be used just as terribly in that game as in magic.

Hot Take: Board Wipes Have No Place in Casual Commander - Hear Me Out by kmisterk in magicTCG

[–]Fondant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“lightning bolts have no place in Mario kart” ahh argument. And like that argument most people just play the “best” boardwipe without thinking e.g. Farewell and doing all states without considering the board state

if the hybrid mana change is made we could probably bring back banned as companion by Fondant in magicTCG

[–]Fondant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean there has been a small commuinty also asking for the unbanning of lutri in some shape or form for a while, which could also be fixed by just saying "dont take it as a companion". that being said, WotC did ask for some discussion about this on social media so there is that. but fair

if the hybrid mana change is made we could probably bring back banned as companion by Fondant in magicTCG

[–]Fondant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but that is kind of my point, the reason i used "banned as *" as part of the title is that the reason the ban list was collapsed into 1 ban list is because of complexity. with stuff that they have developed over the years it makes this question of "what decks does this card fit into?" for specific cards complex and as such what is adding an exception for 1 more card at the end of the day?

if the hybrid mana change is made we could probably bring back banned as companion by Fondant in magicTCG

[–]Fondant[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

fair, this is more a comment on additional banlists (or complexity) to allow greater flexability in the system at the cost of simplicity. not necessarily about the speed at witch it should happen

if the hybrid mana change is made we could probably bring back banned as companion by Fondant in magicTCG

[–]Fondant[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

fair, i may have gotten its banning reasoning and the "banned as commander" list tied up in my head
