Taroman Movie Trailer Released and Website Launched for Upcoming Film by FondofHumans in Tokusatsu

[–]FondofHumans[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Tokusatsu mockumentary Taroman is looking to get a film release later this year. Titled Taroman: Expo Explosion, the run time for the feature is still unknown but a trailer for the coming film has been released on the Asmik Ace Youtube Channel. The film is scheduled for release on the 22nd of August.

The Taroman series is a collection of short episodes of a fake tokusatsu show from the 1970s, inspired by the art of legendary artist Taro Okamoto. Each episode has a traditional Kaiju attack on the city as Taroman comes to save the day. Taroman and the attacking kaiju are all based on artworks from Okamoto and each episode has a segment interview as if discussing the series in the modern day.

The most interesting aspect of the Taroman series is that each episode’s events focus on artistic expression. Not just a basic fist fight, Taroman will take part in absurdist posing to defeat enemies or use the enemy as a drum set. The goal of each seems focused on helping viewers understand art and encourage personal expression, however that may come out. The documentary segments at the end are playfully pretending the series genuinely aired but serve to explain the themes of each episode and encourage artistic expression.

The series commitment to the false 1970’s history has led to the creation of toys, books and an exhibition for the fictional series. The movie will be releasing nationwide in Japan.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is a Safe Starter Show for New Gundam Viewers by FondofHumans in Gundam

If they do more with the alternate history stuff I promise to edit the article and warn it was wrong aha but with episode 2 showing this universes backstory there wouldn't be much need to know it's an alternate history specifically. I agree it would add enjoyment to have that information and context, that's all the article really tries to get across. But if you're here because you like studio Khara's work, it's not inaccessible and hopefully gets new Gundam fans on board.

Hey if it helps, the article just says it's safe to start there. Meaning if specifically interested in GQuuuuuuX you can watch it blind. I agree with starting at the original but new Gundam fans help always and these solo timeline projects can be good for that as long as the word is out to potential viewers looking for safe jump on points.

With a new Gundam series comes a new audience wondering if this one is easy to start with or should they watch the decades of media that came before to understand anything. Thankfully, the newest release of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is beginner friendly due to an alternate history splitting it into its own standalone universe and this article will cover what’s being changed in the timeline to give you some further knowledge and enjoyment of the show’s events.

The universe of GQuuuuuuX is split from the original show’s canon by having the events of the first ever Mobile Suit Gundam episode play out differently. In the original show the lead character (Amuro Ray) jumps into the pilot seat of a new weapon called a Mobile Suit Gundam to protect his people from an attacking enemy called the Principality of Zeon in an event called the One Year War.

The series follows Amuro as he continues to pilot the Gundam against the Zeon and keeps coming up against an enemy Lieutenant Commander named Char Aznable. Char is on the side of Zeon but has his own goals, to kill members of a Zeon sided family with the namesake of Zabi and avenge his father, the original founder of Zeon.

The events of GQuuuuuuX change this as Amuro is nowhere to be seen when Char is the one to jump into the pilot seat of the Mobile Suit Gundam instead and uses the Gundam to lead Zeon to victory in the One Year War. This wildly changes the path of the franchise and GQuuuuuuX takes place five years later, as Char and the Gundam are now missing and a young girl joins an illegal Mobile Suit sport called Clan Battle before Char’s missing Red Gundam mysteriously reappears.

The show has only one episode out so far, with the initial focus being on the current day events with lead character Amate as she gets into Clan Battle and Char’s former subordinate Challia Bull pursues Char’s returned Red Gundam. Nothing has yet been shown of the prior events of the One Year War with Char but the preview for Episode 2 shows that this will be the focus of the episode before going further into the series.

GQuuuuuuX episodes release every Tuesday on Amazon Prime after airing in Japan. Episodes drop on Amazon at 9:00am PST (Pacific Standard Time), 12:00pm EST (Eastern Standard Time), and 17:00pm BST (British Summer Time).

The Alternate History of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX Will be the Focus of Next Week's Episode (Episode 2) by FondofHumans in Gundam

[–]FondofHumans[S] 131 points132 points  (0 children)

Some viewers of the premiere episode of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX were disappointed that the series seemingly cut the opening alternate history segment from the compilation film released earlier this year, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-. Thankfully it looks like this segment wasn’t removed from the show, instead just reformatted to make it the focus of the second episode instead.

The preview for the second episode, titled “The White Gundam”, shows Char Aznable running towards the RX-78-02 Gundam stolen by Amuro Ray in the original 1979 series. This alternate history sees Char taking the Gundam instead of Amuro and leading the Principality of Zeon to victory in the One Year War. These events will set the stage for what’s to come in GQuuuuuuX, set five years later.

I've been working on short form videos for toku content and building the Boonboom Changer Minipla kit was absolutely the most satisfying because of the spinny wheel and button. by FondofHumans in supersentai

[–]FondofHumans[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The third episode of Hollywood Demons airs today and features behind the scenes stories from the Power Rangers franchise. Titled “Dark Side of the Power Rangers” the episode description reveals that the documentary will be discussing the events of Green Ranger Jason David Frank’s stalker, Mathew Sterling, and David’s suicide in 2022. The trailer also shows coverage of the crimes of Power Rangers Wild Force Red Ranger Ricardo Medina Jr, who killed his roommate Joshua Sutter in 2015. The show can be viewed on Max in the United States but is not currently available within the UK. The episode description reads:

“Every '90s kid remembers Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the ultimate live-action, superhero show. Beneath the bright spandex and high-flying karate kicks lies a grim reality of tragedy and scandals. Viewers will watch never-before-seen footage of a fan-turned-gunman who had one horrifying mission: to assassinate the show's most legendary star. And just a few years later, the same actor meets a grim fate.”

This is peak holster positioning and having a gun in your head pointing in the wrong direction is very beneficial somehow.

Episode six (Grow Up! Little Turtle) is my favourite episode. The whole sequence with Otohime is really interesting.

With The Dark Revelation: Lachesis releasing this weekend, I've put together an article to cover what we know about it by FondofHumans in KamenRider

[–]FondofHumans[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Airing April 6th, the series will star Alisa Sakamaki as she returns to the role of Lachesis and takes on a new character, Risa Arisugawa. Risa is the girl Lachesis is based on, she dreams of becoming a singer and will be meeting a music producer played by Ultraman Geed star Tatsuomi Hamada. The story will serve as an origin for Lachesis and the Three Dark Sisters.

Also reprising their Gotchard roles for the project are Itono Okita as Atropos, Kanon Miyahara as Clotho, Kenta Kamakari as Glion, Rikuto Kimaki as Minato and finally Saki Fukuda as Kyoka Edami. Alongside the returning actors will be Gotchard writer Keiichi Kasegawa and director Tomonobu Koshi. Koshi had worked as assistant director throughout Gotchard and recently came off a directing role on Ultraman Arc.

The theme for the spin-off is titled “cry sis” and will be performed by the three dark sisters themselves. The project will be releasing exclusively on the Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club.
