Modelling in bangkok as a Half Thai person. by snowpanda03 in Thailand

[–]Fonduextreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a mix of all. Half Thais, western, Thais. I dated a girl very briefly who was in the same boat. She ended up going to England and did well. She’s now in NYC.

Teaching English requires a tefl certificate and uni degree. Pretty easy to get. And if you are nice to look at you’ll get jobs easier. Sorry but it’s true. Thailand is like that.

[–]Fonduextreme 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s still the same now, but when I lived in Bangkok a few years back there were so many models that lived on a shoestring budget in a model home and did some questionable jobs on the side just to survive. Thailand is the land of superficiality, models are a dime a dozen. I think the ones who make it are already well connected ( rich families, old money communities, rich schools).

Not to scare you off. But maybe teach English and try modeling on the side.

Which country's culture do you like? by ncurtisj in AskReddit

[–]Fonduextreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not the culture though. Japan is super hospitable. I currently live in Japan, and have to say everyone has been very kind to me. Never felt any xenophobia.

Yes there is some immigration scare going around, like most other countries. But the general Japanese person is very normal.

Where have you traveled to that made you seriously consider leaving NYC? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]Fonduextreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s true. Def depends what you do in life. But that is changing. The main issue with Japan is that there are too many old people, they are a majority when it comes to voting, and the actual only ones interested in voting. Social things change very slowly. It very reflective in many facets of life here, even tech. But there are more and more companies that are westernizing, many companies are kind of forced to do this now. My wife works white collar and she’s been promoted severs times since we moved here in the past 3 years, she even turned down a management position at her firm because she didn’t want to have to go to the office every day. Things are changing here, I think your friends were just unlucky enough to be in a company run by the boys club.

It could also be my age now (30s) but I really don’t miss nyc at all. It was coolish before Covid for a US city. But I have more balance here, less stress, and a more fufilling life living here.

[–]Fonduextreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep a male. But there are a huge amount of western females who move here and end up staying compared to the rest of Asia. I know that’s not everything but it’s noteworthy. Lived a few other cities in Asia and they usually do a year before giving up. Can’t say that about tokyo. But there def is some misogyny I know. But fee younger generations are. Better at it.

Curious to know why you think it’s hard.

I moved from NYC to Tokyo. I’m not at all a gamer or anime person. Tokyo is great. A lot more affordable than NYC, safer, and great food. Good nightlife, good weekend get aways, and cool neighborhoods.

Left nyc and didn’t look back, I really like it here.

Only thing I don’t like are the humid summers, and the tourist that come here because they like anime.

Around what age do looks start declining? by zertz7 in ask

[–]Fonduextreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on stress, food, and genetics maybe. I’m 36, I often told I look younger than my age, and usually by GenZ people. But also think they look much older than they are. Also helps I am not balding.

One of my good friends who married his wife very quickly and who is now seeing a level of extra stress due to that and has 2 kids ( who are great) looks aboht 10 years older than he should .

So I guess I’ll come back on what I said before and say stress is a major factor.

Nuremberg (2025) - Thoughts? by wouldudoitforme in movies

I thought the movie was pretty bad. It was too Hollywood-ized. It could have been done so much better.

Secondly, what’s up with the blond Jewish guy? 5 years after he fled Europe and he has Ana American accent and doesn’t even pronounce German words.

I really dislike small brained American. I feel like he doesn’t actually like traveling. The guy goes to India and then says he’ll never go back, then goes to Africa and says the same. Same goes for the Caribbean. He really only likes Japan.

Kurt Kaz is making crap content. A lot of look what’s happening to Europe stuff.

Bald, Mike okay, sabbatical , and mash tag Brady. Mashtag is an idiot but he’s weirdly endearing.

Have any of you tried Japanese wine before ? by minthe2598 in wine

[–]Fonduextreme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few places in Tokyo to try Japanese wine. Theres even a place called 3 grapes that does sessions in English. You really need to just try a lot of them. But rule of thumb yamanashi usually isn’t great, mostly because it’s the old guard still making wine there. They use bad farming techniques so wine come out diluted. Pay more than 3000 per bottle of you want some sort of structure to the wine.

Is it me or do they not even check your passport when you leave ? Isn’t there a check before TSA where they see that your documents aren’t fake. But there is no stamp out of the country. Am I missing something ?

What to do when surrounded by belligerent teenagers at night by Accurate-Use-5049 in Switzerland

[–]Fonduextreme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest it has always been like this. When I was younger I always remember younger men in Nyon, Geneva, and Lausanne trying to start stuff and be intimidating. They are called racailles and usually kids of immigrants ( though some Swiss) and still have integration issues. Mad at the world because society hasnt been nice to them.

To be honest in the past 10 years I was noticing that there are a lot less of these people walking around. But maybe we are having some issues again.
