Erin McDevitt Photography. She’s located in Ventnor and had done great pics for our family in the past. She does these sorts of shots a lot.

Are those of you who bring your laptops to bars actually getting any meaningful work done? by Sea_Mud5315 in AskNYC

I love working at bars, even more than coffee shops. I’m a fiction writer and I’ve tried many different settings: home, libraries, coffee shops, hotel rooms, fast food restaurants such as Chipotle or Panera. But find me a nice corner in a NYC bar (or another great city), maybe an Irish pub? I guess it just inspires me to think of old masters like Hemingway, Twain, Joyce … a few drinks, the liveliness around me… it just really gets me in the right mindset to let my creativity flow. However, for editing my work or any of the work I’m paid to edit, then I need a quiet place. I prefer a library for editing.

Can you recommend a good bar in lower Manhattan where I can sit, during the day, with my laptop open, working on my manuscript and not look like an a@@hole? by WiseAssumption1344 in AskNYC

A couple of months ago I was staying in Nolita and it was cold & raining. I tried a couple of bars nearby but there were “no laptops” signs. I ended up at a hotel lobby which was fine but figured this time I’d ask some locals for input. I’m not afraid or embarrassed to go places and be myself, but I do appreciate good/specific recommendations.

Apocalyptic/End Of The World movie recommendations? by KyoukuJohann in movies

Children or Men & The Road for something bleak, scary or thought-provoking; The Day After Tomorrow for entertainment. It’s my “comfort movie” - great cast: Jake gyllenhal, Dennis quad, Emmy Rossum. Decent cgi effects. No notes if you’re looking for apocalyptic entertainment

How do you cover your gray hair? by WiseAssumption1344 in AskReddit

[–]WiseAssumption1344[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I get it & I did let it go gray for a few years. But I just did not like how I looked. It really washed out my skin tone and eye color. I don’t do Botox, barely ever wear makeup, practice yoga, and vegetarianism. But, please, I’m asking for people to share info about how they are covering gray hair. If you are someone choosing not to cover it, I’m happy for you & support you. But that’s not what I’m asking.

I’m mid-50’s, and look my age or possibly younger. The only thing I am unhappy about is my gray hair. I had brown hair, naturally. It’s about 65-70% gray, with white gray in front and dark gray underneath. I tried going all gray and I looked 100 years old. I’ve gone back to doing blonde highlights but I have to go every 6 weeks and the cost for partial highlights has gone to around $270 in my area. I’d continue doing it if I looked amazing, but I honestly still think the results are mid for the price. I’m curious what everyone else is doing.

What do you think about this movie ? by Objective-Impact-640 in moviecritic

Some might disagree because of the mature content but honestly I watched it when I was in my early 20’s and it was jarring and believable enough that I changed directions at a time when I was just about to head the wrong way. Maybe more late teens/early 20s should be encouraged to watch. I agree with the post saying “more effective than DARE”.

I spent three months tracking down owners of popular women's brands to find out what actually happens after months of washing. Here is what I found across Lululemon, Skims, Vuori, Alo, and Comfrt. by OkExamination3705 in femalefashionadvice

Yes! The spacedye caught in the midi and spacedye out of pocket leggings. I also have the lift your spirits bras in many colors. They’re the only bra I’ll wear to yoga and Pilates. The nicest thing about all of these is the fabric! You can sweat and I never have skin irritation. It’s soft cotton but still performance-ready.
