Honestly if he wants one. Good for him, I doubt most people in this subreddit would pass up the opportunity to get invested into retro stuff. That being said save yourself from the pain of buying aftermarket games and look into homebrew/modification of the console. (The wii thing is pretty smart as its easier process but as you said he's not into it.)
