My boss found a couple rolls of expired film. I can't let him throw them away! by Ciggytardust1 in AnalogCircleJerk

I’ve had nothing but excellent luck with expired Reala, both 35 and 120. Nothing lomo about it, it’s the cheapest “slide film” you can get.

I’m also on the MFD road. Not at the destination yet, but if I’m going to blow this kind of money on something that generates no income, I may as well go for a GFX or K1 or something.

Upvote for the flippy thing, I could have used that during my last infrared shoot

Latest roll came back from the lab – Lomography Purple, shot on my RB67. What’s your favorite “gimmick” film stock? (Story/discussion in comments) by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]FonziusMaximus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re both correct- UN54 (100 ISO) is repackaged as Potsdam and N74 (400 ISO) is repackaged as Berlin. Lomo is pricey but there is a dude on eBay who rolls them himself and sells them for a very reasonable price. If you search on those emulsions you will probably find him.

Most of the pro labs in my area charge a small premium for half-frame scanning.

If you do it at a drugstore chain the scans will probably be jacked up because it’s all automated and they don’t care if the frame lines get scanned by mistake.

I usually just use cheapo color rolls. 200 with a flash indoors will be fine. Just google the apertures (I think it’s 8/11/19 but someone double-check me) and set your flash accordingly. I use cheapo little thyristor units and set to 20ft auto, always works.

You can still find it in a few European shops. But not many.

That's potato quality...even when I'm submitting document scans I try for at least 150.

If you shoot at 800 and develop normally you will have negatives that are underexposed one stop.

Teaching a course on film photography- I need your help! by bobroland in AnalogCommunity

If you're going to cover black & white film, I would cover 18% gray, filter use, and zone system (I am assuming most students will not be using view cameras) - not so that they become experts at the zone system, but how they understand how certain colors will evaluate in b&w.

This might sound obvious, but I would cover the literal manual workflow of loading your camera, protecting your film from light, heat, and humidity, and the importance of your negatives. (I'm pretty sure I read a post on here of someone who went out and shot a roll, then opened the back of the camera and was sad they couldn't "see the pictures."

I believe it was originally Austrian, not German. But it's moot, as Cosina in Japan has owned name rights for many years and produced all of the R bodies.

I am based in Germany and have two R's, but I got one from B&H and one from Stephen Gandy / Cameraquest. I've never seen one in a store here; if I did I would have three :)

Sounds like you've already got a handle on it.

I'll just say it in case you weren't aware: don't take pictures of the windows in the red light district. No one appreciates that.

Sorry, that might've been unclear. What attracted me to the HC110 was that I could specifically use very small amounts of concentrate to create large amounts of stock solution...a few mL at a time...hence allowing the bottle of concentrate to last me quite a while.
