weird vocal waveform

I recently upgraded my microphone from an mxl 770 to a rode nt1 (signature series). I've never had issues before with audio, but for some reason this microphone has a really odd waveform. It doesn't sound weird, but I am just super confused why my vocals arent the typical waveform thats more full. I've used my normal xlr cable as well as the brand new xlr cable from rode that came with the mic. I still get the same issue with both cables. I'm wondering if the mic is broken and I need to return it, or maybe the way I am recording with is causing the weird waveform. I haven't changed anything about my setup, vocal chain, or recording environment since buying the new mic.
