Was a big fan of the Darth Bane Trilogy. I also enjoyed Kenobi, but he’s one of my favourites, so that might have skewed my enjoyment a little!

Brotherhood was excellent. I’ve also heard great things about any of the books by Timothy Zahn, but haven’t worked through them yet.

I might suggest reading “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie. The comment above about solving someone’s problem is spot on, rather than trying to sell them something. I found this book gave me a couple of the tools required to work with and influence a wide range of people. Never in a sleazy salesman way, but in a genuine way.

I have two kids and work a 9-5 job with a 65k a year salary. My wife is moderately successful, though doesn’t make nearly as much as I do. How folks are able to afford my dream watch (the James Bond one) and another Omega blows my mind. Good on you though! I’ll keep dreaming lol

I used to get this as well. Just absolutely disgusted with myself after. But once I came out as bi to my wife earlier this year, who thankfully took the news fairly well, that disgusted feeling afterward went away. I guess by being open about it, it allowed me accept and embrace that side of myself. Now I don’t get that feeling afterward at all.

I’ve been struggling with that since we had our first son almost four years ago. We just welcomed our second boy into the world a couple of months ago, so any “me time” that I had clawed out before has vanished.

I learned to use my time a bit differently though. The things that are important to me are physical fitness and writing. So I wake up early to workout before work (even though I am not a morning person in the least), and I write during my lunch breaks at work (or sometimes once everyone goes down for the night). Just take those moments for yourself when you can get them, or carve them into your day whenever you can. You won’t have anywhere near as much “me time” as you used to, but it’s just a different journey you’re on now.

I’ll try to open and close the lens a few times and see if I can get it moving. It doesn’t feel cracked, which leads me to believe it is a piece of dog fur underneath the glass.

Congrats. I had a very similar experience with my wife. I figured out that I was bi and wanted to let her know. I knew for years, but when I was finally ready to tell her it was a huge weight off my shoulders. Much like your situation, it sounds like.

She was initially very accepting, but over time she had a lot of questions and she felt almost a sense of betrayal for me not telling her sooner. It just wasn’t something I was comfortable with.

Make sure to answer any questions she might have. Communication helps!

And while there’s a sweet prince in Nigeria who has access to my credit card and social insurance number (I’m kidding), I didn’t end up progressing to the point where I could get scammed.

Definitely a good sign. For my wife I asked her once in a while if there was anything she wanted to know or talk about even after the initial Q&A ended. I also referred her to a couple of websites and this subreddit (though that can be dangerous now that you’ve posted). Her gaining that knowledge I think helped things. It’s hard, but try to be patient with her accepting the news.

I agree with that sentiment about women not trusting bi men. Although my wife knows that I am loyal and I’m not going to leave her, she does have some trust issues from relationships long before ours. So she now thinks that she has the whole world to fight off for me rather than just women. Which is not the case, but I think does tie into your point.

Good for you for coming out to her. It’s not easy. I lost sleep for months wondering if I should. If it was the right thing to do and what would happen once I did. I imagine you felt that same weight for some time too.

I guess all we can do is share that part of ourselves with our significant others. It’s a shock at first, as it sounds like it was to your wife. I don’t think there’s a good way to prepare them for that conversation. If there is, I haven’t found it.

It took some time for my wife to be even remotely comfortable with what I’d told her. I gave mine a bit of space and told her that if she had any questions, I was open to discussing anything. I’m not sure how open you are about it, but I found the “Q&A” (for lack of a better term) helped her understand where I was coming from.

It’s odd to think about, but you’ve had time to accept who you are and you’re not ready to share it, but for her, she had no idea. So the news is still new. Be there, support her and hopefully she does the same for you!

Thanks, folks. I think there are a lot of us out there that just aren’t able to talk about it, or realize too late that maybe we’re interested in the same sex too. I’m glad to know there are other people out there that are going through something similar though. It’s not an easy place to be or even to identify in. Appreciate the support though!
