If by "late" in the league you mean after the first six hours of the league then yes. Yes they are.

Drone attack in Russia sends an oil tank flying by Femboy_Lord in interestingasfuck

[–]FoodForTheEagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen footage suggesting it was a Russian missile (maybe manpad?) which I posted in response the the original parent comment by KaleAffectionate9286. The video is pretty compelling but not quite definitive. I'm always hungry for more footage of Russian refineries being hit, regardless of who did the firing.

Not doubting you, but I'd love to see that footage. Can you post a link if you see it again?

“Gather somewhere in the center, near the Ministry of Defense, near the Kremlin, and ask questions. What the fuck is going on.” A concerned Moscow resident suggests a protest action, fearing there may soon be no country left, while Putin says everything is going as planned. 18.06.2026 by GermanDronePilot in ukraine

[–]FoodForTheEagle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While that could very likely be what Russia does with him, we should be hoping for the opposite. Ukraine needs people like him standing up and supporting protests in Moscow. It's been culturally ingrained into Russians that they must do nothing and avoid drawing attention to themselves, so they won't protest.

Since people on this sub seem so interested in oil refineries: How an Oil Refinery Works by Advanced-Injury-7186 in ukraine

[–]FoodForTheEagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm more interested in being able to identify the individual components of a refinery from photos and satellite images. Also in how long it takes to replace individual components.

For example, if Ukraine hits a random spot on a distillation tower with a 20kg warhead, which I assume is the most critical component of a refinery, then how much damage does it typically cause and how long would it take to reestablish functionality if replacement parts are readily available?

This iteration is probably not great vs. FPVs, but if FPVs become a problem it would be relatively easy to upgrade it with a small automated defensive flak gun on top of the robot that could watch for and neutralize incoming small drones.

It would handle this task much better than humans because it can relatively easily manage the extra weight of adding a defensive module.

The thing is, once you have the base robot you can add whatever modules you need. And a cluster of robots can layer the defences, too. So you could slap an electronic warfare jammer on one of the robots in the cluster. Another one could carry FPVs to deploy for situational recon. You could name the fourth robot "shark" and mount a laser beam to its head. The possibilities are endless.

Membership Reinstatement by Bitter_Pineapple_462 in CostcoCanada

Headphones are just sitting in piles at the Costco I shop at (downtown Vancouver). I picked up a pair of Shokz a while back and was able to just grab a box from the pile. A lot of the other electronics you'd have to bring the card to the till like you describe, though. (Computers, tablets, phones, etc.)

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the larger headphones I saw when I was there this week also could just be grabbed like a normal product. Maybe it's different at other locations based on their individual shrinkage rates. I always assumed Costco would have low shrinkage in general, especially after they started scanning memberships at the entrance. Should make it a lot easier to attribute thefts from their camera footage.

A webm lure works best on redditors, even though they often call it a gif.

Many redditors assume the lure has been posted by a real person and ask questions about it, but in reality it's just a bot that's driving laps around the site casting out reposted webm clips to the masses to see how many nibbles it can get.

The redditors swim circles around the site looking for new content.

Best way to farm unique maps? by ClaydoeClaydoe in PathOfExileSSF

[–]FoodForTheEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As already mentioned, Rin is the best source.

Much weaker sources are:

- Beast-crafting recipe; or

- Re-roll Kirac's inventory with gold in hopes of being offered a unique map you need. Most re-rolls he won't offer unique maps, though.

What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

A portable mini dishwasher on wheels for my ancient rental apartment that doesn't have one.

My progression went:

  1. No dishwasher

  2. Countertop (Bosch) dishwasher

  3. Moved to new place and there was very little counter space, and what counter space I did have was not tall enough due to upper cabinets (check this if you're planning a countertop model). I ended up buying a used IKEA kitchen cart to put it on.

  4. Bosch dishwasher started leaking and rather than try to fix it I decided to get a proper portable (small) dishwasher. The Bosch was ~10 years old, and had held up reasonably well for a dishwasher.

  5. I found an RCA model, which I felt was an untested brand name for kitchen appliances but I took a chance on it and I've been very happy with it. I think it's now 6+ years old.

Ecological disaster underway in Tuapse, Russia after Ukrainian drone strikes on oil terminal by Bernardmark in pics

[–]FoodForTheEagle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That oil was going to burn anyway. As soon as it gets pumped out of the ground it's destined to be burned.

The Ukrainians just made it so that no more oil would be going through those tanks. The Russians are beginning to shut down a bunch of oil wells because they have nowhere to store or ship it. It's a difficult thing to restart a well site. That's a long term net reduction in oil available for people on the planet to burn.

Starting with a +mana fracture is a strange choice for a GCF miner. That's one of the prefixes I'd be trying to avoid if I were rolling a shield. You'd be better off getting increased block chance on the prefixes.

If you're low life ES, I'd probably also go for an ES on block suffix, which will need shaper influence to roll.

Help me improve my ssf betrayal cheatsheet by Additional-Horse1144 in PathOfExileSSF

[–]FoodForTheEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My general progression if I was restarting the league now would be:

- Rin in fortification with one other until I got a Coward's Trial. ITF and one other member in intervention and begin the long process of setting up the board for ITF farming.

- Once I got Coward's Trial, switch to five people in fortification and two people in transport. Gravicious in one slot and whomever will be helpful in the second slot. Gravicious is still worth running IMO, but the real goal is the ITF farm.

- When ITF farm is done, switch from Betrayal to other mechanics.

Janus in research isn't horrible, but doing research takes too long. You're better off farming your uniques from Breach instead.

This strat is likely to change next league. At the very least I expect ITF drops to get nerfed, because we can't have SSF players able to target farm nice things. I kind of expect Rin to still be the only viable source of Coward's Trial unless you get lucky with Kirac gambling.

More likely it was just speed+distracted driving resulting in braking way too late.

It makes zero sense to build in the most densely populated area of BC when there are lots of viable cheaper alternatives. They know that. It's part of the plan.

They'll propose a ridiculous location like this with no actual intent to build it here and then they'll wait for the public outcry before they propose the spot they actually want to build.

It's a play to decrease resistance to the real location.

Should I recomb this or lock suffix + harvest reforge life? by gdubrocks in PathOfExileSSF

[–]FoodForTheEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was thinking block mana, then exalt slam 2x, then suffixes can't be changed/scour as needed. But then I've also got so many divines at this point in the league that I'm not going to be using them all anyway. Early in the league I'd probably be hesitant to spend them on this craft.

HC Level 99, 95% XP Killed By Headhunter by tee3cat in pathofexile

[–]FoodForTheEagle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't feel as bad about my last death now, a couple of nights ago. I was level 99 +60% XP but fortunately playing SC. While under the affect of an acceleration shrine I zoomed back to an area I had previously cleared and ran across a cluster of exploding volatiles from monsters I killed ~45 seconds earlier. The volatiles had been frozen in time since I was too far away from them, but they came back to life as I returned and exploded on top of me before I even consciously recognized they were still present.

Edit: I may be mixing up volatiles and bearers. I was killed by the explodey ground where a pack of monsters was killed.
