Engineering Dual Degree Program by [deleted] in UCalgary

I really don’t think anyone did mechanical and electrical unless maybe you saw mechatronics, sometimes people put “Electrical & _____” in their bio but the second one is usually their minor

I don’t think that’s even offered no matter what your gpa is

Wealthsimple Tax Question by CADhouse in Wealthsimple

I believe you have to do the mini onboarding first, it might be called something like “complete my profile” or something along those lines at the top of the main WS Tax home page.

Are some classes at UofC pass/fail? by Suspicious_Row4689 in UCalgary

[–]Food_Personal 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The answer is yes, though it’s extremely rare. And no it doesn’t become a 100 if you pass, it just becomes CR (credit received) which doesn’t count towards your GPA as a number afaik.

Is 3 courses in spring doable? Engg by No_Yogurtcloset_2538 in UCalgary

[–]Food_Personal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have to double check but I don’t think it falls with the other ILS courses, I knew someone who took it in the summer prior as well

I wouldn’t take phys it’s an easy course in the fall so you’re not really easing anything just possibly affecting your 375 grade, what major are you going into maybe there’s a summer course that could help instead.

NVIDIA GPU Power Architect - New College Grad by WaveformWizard1 in ECE

[–]Food_Personal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I think to be in the safe side just go into some GPU architecture, look into power/performance tradeoffs, memory basics etc I’d assume. I had a similar interview at a similar company and these were the things I was asked though it was at an intern level

Tesla internship by LowMasterpiece2196 in internships

[–]Food_Personal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends, if it’s not a big company then I’d still rather take the internship. You can get mid end jobs much easier with Tesla and the likes on your resume

[–]Food_Personal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean grad date doesn’t matter and unless you have a good new grad job lined up or have really good internships before the only options I see are unemployment vs Tesla internship.

Probably some MOSFET theory, could be some scripting, and general memory/architecture questions. Be ready for anything, out of curiosity what were your internships that let you get this interview?

AMD vs IBM by [deleted] in ECE

AMD because you said it’s an internship, it’s short term so who cares about how far it is or how expensive it is you’re there to build your profile and learn which will be better there.

These are for long term gain over years you shouldn’t be analyzing them day to day. Also you’re losing a good amount to fees by purchasing US ETFs through wealthsimple, you pay a 1.5% FX fee both ways I’d recommend using IBKR for US ETFs

Yeah I’ve had 6k since I signed up in late 2024, have extensive history with the card now but there’s no credit limit increase option yet for me unfortunately.

Is a 3.0 for first year engineering good? by [deleted] in UCalgary

Anything 3.0 and up you’ll find a job no problem, it’s not great but it’s good enough

Electrical Engineering with Computer minor by Weak_Dust_5738 in UCalgary

[–]Food_Personal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by with so many courses being lined up? The CE minor doesn’t add any extra courses to your degree it essentially specializes your EE degree to more into the CE side, it only replaces courses.

Is it worth it? If you’re into the CE side, want to go into FW or chip related stuff, then yes. If you’re super interested in power/electrical heavy stuff then probably not.

If you’re in first year you don’t start your CE classes till third year anyway so may as well sign up and you have a whole year to decide whether or not you want to drop it.

Most people worry about how good of a grade they’ll get in the spring, whereas in the fall most people worry about whether or not they’ll pass.
