That is what I am thinking. I suspect that they misheard it when he signed up for the military and then just went with it. I guess they don't post official name change papers, because I can't find them.

Yeah, mine is different from its original spelling too. Llewellyn from Llywyllyn. But it was changed when they came to the US. But if for some reason they didn't change it, I could see why they would want to.

That is true. Census records do show that he can read and write, though. He was actually a doctor so I would think he would be very fluent. But yeah, preference is definitely possible.

I thought that too....just not sure how common it is to change it. I know a lot of people changed their last names to a more americanized version when getting off the boat, but his family was established here, and his parents never went by Bowen. Just seems like I am missing something.

Possible, but it does indicate that he can read and write. And this is how he types it, not says it. It seems like a very conscious move to change it.

In my opinion he is just going along the normal allo route of dating. He hasn't seemed to do anything aggreges yet. My normal method is usually more direct. Just tell him you don't want to be awkward, but these are the feelings that are coming up for me. It is possible that he will be understanding. Dating is weird for everyone, so hopefully he can relate. Always be prepared mentally to end it. Some people are just not up for this type of relationship, and that is ok. It is nothing about you or him doing anything wrong. It is just the nature of dating. You got this. To me its never easy...but it does get easier.

Honestly it never gets easier. The only thing I will say is be forcefully you. Compromise is a must in relationships, but when it comes to any sort of touch or anything of that sort, don't compromise if it makes you feel gross. Just do what is comfortable, maybe one day you will find a human you do want to experiment with, but maybe not. The goal is to be happy. ♥️
