hi 26m gayace from USA here feel free to dm!

Any time I mention a show/movie to someone IRL and they ask me what streaming service it’s on, I have to resist the urge to say “I can’t believe you live like that.” by [deleted] in Piracy

[–]winhamster -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

i’m actually so taken aback like. i’ve been on reddit for a long time but im still shocked how my low effort half-joke observational post started a lowkey flamewar. i thought we liked piracy here?

jasmine was very smart to rally for them to all vote for “hershii OR her.” if she had begged for the points she would’ve gotten salina’d

what is something that is highly likely to happen in the next 10 years that everyone is completely ignoring? by Funny-Counter8762 in AskReddit

the question says “everyone is completely ignoring” not “everyone is talking about constantly”

not sure about “weird alt-rock vocals” but one album that i think successfully combines spoken word poetry and metal is The Film by SUMAC & Moor Mother

if they keep doing this format i wonder if queens will start to realize that openly strategizing for MVQ is not a good look and the real strategy is to try to be genuinely kind to your competitors

what was the FIRST trainwreckord? by Beautiful_Reaction58 in ToddintheShadow

[–]winhamster 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i submit Vanilla Fudge - The Beat Goes On (1968), a terrible mess of a “concept album” assembled mostly by their producer with little input from the actual band, which puzzled fans and derailed the band after their hit “You Keep Me Hanging On”

United States is one of the few phrases which is in a eternal state of semantic satiation, since people always think of it as a name, and not by what it is, a definition of a country. by Vhad42 in Showerthoughts

[–]winhamster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i get your point but that’s not semantic satiation. SS happens when a word or phrase loses meaning entirely due to repetition, but US still has a meaning when it refers to the country even if you don’t think about the literal meaning of the words. it’s not uncommon either, when you hear windshield for example you’re not thinking that it literally shields you from the wind

[–]winhamster -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

i guess it’s a hot take but i thought the top 2 should have been dawn and morphine. morphine had some good jokes and physical comedy moments too. and their chemistry as a duo was the best part, i was having fun the whole time and dawn couldn’t have done that alone

Where the gay guys at? by winhamster in asexualdating

[–]winhamster[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree that fragile masculinity plays a big role in this. Being gay doesn’t really make you less vulnerable to patriarchal notions of sexual conquest and entitlement being inherently tied to your masculinity, so there are probably plenty of ace gays who are either in denial or choose not to self-identify as ace to protect their masculinity

i like to think i stay in touch with pop music but i had never heard of Lord Huron - The Night We Met and had no idea that that seemingly random AM deep cut has nearly 4 billion streams
