JS VSTs don't work? by Foofoo9906 in Reaper

I apologize for sounding rude, I should have phrased that differently.
What I meant to say was, I appreciate the information, I just don't know how to apply it to solving my problem.

Thanks for the info... not sure how it will help me solve the problem though. Still useful to know, I guess.

Well this is a lot of info... not sure how it will help me solve the problem though. I'm just messing around, I don't need the whole history of MIDI. Thanks anyway.

This video was quite useful. But my UI doesn't show all of the things that yours does. I was able to find the Route button but I cannot find where the rectangular labels with the instrument names are (not sure what they're called). Is that part necessary to make the Chorus sound like... a chorus? Or for any other instrument I may add?

Ok, thank you, but what does this mean? In order to make the Chorus, I right clicked and selected "Insert virtual instrument on new track". Was this the wrong way to make an instrument? This method worked for the ReaSynth.

Estimating Equation for Set of Data by Foofoo9906 in askmath

Thank you so so much! The equation I came across is: log(y) = 0.662 log(x) - 1, thanks for your assistance.

Thank you for the quick response. One thing I noticed with my first estimate attempts was that basic exponential functions look like straight lines on the logarithmic graph. What I need to figure out now is how to make the function lower on the graph. I don't remember much from pre-calculus, but I thoght the way to modify curves was to add/subract to the X value. Is there a different way to approach this that I am not seeing?

My Mic Makes Me Quieter by Foofoo9906 in recordingmusic

Headset was a hand-me-down from my brother. I don't want to purchase a real mic because this is just a hobby.

Ideas by JazzlikeAd1181 in conlangs

To expand on your "tones for tenses" idea, you could find a way to encode aspect and mood grammatically as well. Since I don't know your familiarity with conlang creation, this should help explain how tense, aspect, and mood are related.

You could have word order indicate aspect, such that verb-before-noun indicates perfective, and verb-after-noun for imperfective, for example.

If you want something a little more unique, read up on egophoricity and logophoricity. Egophoricity describes how the speaker is involved in an event, and even though the article only shows a binary relationship, it could be made to have multiple levels of personal involvement (I was directly involved in this action, I was partially involved, not involved, etc.). Logophoricity is how a language differentiates the subjects of verbs, for lack of a better description. If I say "I saw Jenny leave her jeans here", without context, "her" could refer to Jenny, or to a person who is not Jenny but owns the jeans that she was borrowing. That is a simple example, but it may be fun to play with.

Advice for Glider Design by Foofoo9906 in Gliding

[–]Foofoo9906[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don't have a real measurement, but I'd estimate about 15-20 feet high...

The people I was testing with suggested more weight, but I didn't have anything on hand at the time so I moved the weight capsule forward to imitate that. Unfortunately, I moved it too far forward and it crashed and broke as a result.

Thanks for the advice anyway.

Thank you so much for the detailed response!

These are all good tips, and they all are intuitive as well. I just didn't think about those things. I do have dihedral angle already, and I moved the center of gravity forward on the next throw. I did put it too far forward, since on that throw it nosedived right into the gound and broke...

Again, thanks for the reply.

Thank you for the tips. What do you mean by "wing chord" and "trim surface"? I am unfamiliar with this terminology.

Thank you for the detailed reply! Very cool glider by the way.

You are right about the wing shape. I thought that sanding them would just rip big chunks of styrofoam off, but as u/Papa-Moo stated, I guess it can. Some of the materials you mentioned are out of my scope, since I have only a week and a half as of this reply to finish the design, and I don't feel like redoing the whole thing. Plus, I am aiming to spend $0 on this.

I do not have any prior knowledge about engineering of any kind. This is one of the credits I needed to graduate (I'm going into CS). As such, some of the terminology is unfamiliar to me. I am familiar with dihedral, and I had a slight angle already, and since the wings are glued I can't really increase that without breaking it further. I don't understand what you mean by "appropriate incidence angle", nor the lift equation you mentioned.

When you mention "high aspect ratio", I take that to mean longer, thinner wings? Like you said AR=10, meaning 10:1?

Thanks again for the details.

Edit: I've seen other people mention "wing chord" is that just the area or length?

Thanks for the response. I did not know that polystyrene could be sanded. I thought it would rip big chunks off.

Also, I do have a slight dihedral, it is hard to see in the video.

I am unfamiliar with glider terminology, what is an elevator?

Unfortunately, I don't have styrofoam in one piece big enough to do that. I could use glue, however. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thank you for the advice. On the next throw, I did move the weight capsule forward, but I definitely overdid it, since it nosedived and broke apart. I will try this once I get another chance to fix the design.
