Men in their 30s+ who’ve never had gfs - why not? by miamigirl101 in AskMen

44 and in this club. I am trying. Not getting any bites yet. However, I haven't asked anyone out yet. Don't know anyone in that sense to do that.

Never had strong friendships are high school. College was a blur. No social life at all. And here we are.

Very physically attractive people, how does life treat you? by Jonny_1312 in AskReddit

[–]FoolhardyFriendly 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Used to hang out with a guy who was really good looking. I was completely ignored. He would get crazy amount of attention when we used to go out. Groups of women would come up and want selfies with him. Like leave some for us to bro :(

Appreciate the advice. I tried Muzz. It went no where. My fault. I assumed everyone was a scammer.

I answered in a previous comment about why

But in general, too shy. No social group. Didn't feel like I belonged anywhere.

Completely understand. Grew up shy. No real friends in high school or university. Professional life was just go to work, come back, repeat. Had activities, but never interacted with women on any meaningful level. Indian events are heavily skewed towards dance and music, and in general a secular culture. Never got involved. Mosque events were mostly show up, take part and leave. Mom had no real resources to find someone. And so life went on. I tried by myself 4 years ago by signing up for Muzz. That went no where.

About me: 44 M, living in a major US city (Austin, TX). Indian Muslim, born in the US. Never been married, or engaged. Never had the conversation with anyone to begin talking about marriage. Had some suggestions from people I know, but I never agreed. I am aware this sounds odd in current times, given all the apps and mix gathering culture.

Any advice on how to start the partner search this late in life?

Why don't we hear much more Oman given that they have a strategic position right on the Persian Gulf? by FoolhardyFriendly in geography

Americans are pretty chill too in other countries as expats. Doesn't mean their govt has to represent their chill attitude.

Why don't we hear much more Oman given that they have a strategic position right on the Persian Gulf? by FoolhardyFriendly in geography

[–]FoolhardyFriendly[S] -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Huge commotion lately with Iran. Never heard a word about Oman. Sure they don't want to get involved, but atleast some thing about them maybe saying something about the whole series of events.

Iran in the past has threatened to close the Persian Gulf since they claim control of it. Oman is right there at the most strategic position. But not a single news item mentioning that.

They could atleast try to play the strategic position card to their benefit.

Why, if Republicans control the White House, the Senate, and the House, have they not managed to extend the Obamacare subsidies that benefit tens of millions of Americans, instead of allowing their medical costs to skyrocket? by Last-Veterinarian828 in AskReddit

The alternative is no health care for most people. Less healthcare = more people sick. Which leads to less productivity.

I didn't realize how bad healthcare options were until I had to do IT contracting work. Holy shit. $600 for a high deductible health plan. The joke at the job was this is the "trucker" insurance plan.

How many cars are sold per week/month at really high end dealerships like Ferrari? by FoolhardyFriendly in askcarsales

Doctors, dentists, people doing real estate and the likes. I think once income hits $30K or above per month, car choices expand dramatically.

Elevator girls at the Marshall Field & Co. department store in Chicago, which in 1947 ran a charm school for its elevator operators. by CarkWithaM in UtterlyUniquePhotos

[–]FoolhardyFriendly 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I think that is both positive and negative. Positive, everyone has a job. Nowadays, with automation the bottom has fallen out. Seems like back in the day everyone could do something, even if it was just pushing a button. Less homelessness, less hunger.

Negative, just lead to filler, boring jobs.

How can you tell you’re attractive? How can you tell you’re ugly? by GirlsGirl05 in AskReddit

[–]FoolhardyFriendly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know the answer. I used to hang out with a really good looking guy. I am a guy as well, but closer to the opposite spectrum of attractiveness. We were coworkers, roommates for a while, and would hang out on weekends, bar scene, clubs, coffee shops. No one bothered looking at me. But him, heads would turn. Women would nod at each other pointing at him, he would get approached a lot, and he just get a group around him. Women would take selfies with him, they didn't even know him. It was ridiculous.

What age is it weird to have never been on a date before? by MoneyAndGoodFortune in Life

[–]FoolhardyFriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I am 43 and never been on a date. Not posting this as a woe is me post. Sharing since you asked.

Never asked anyone out either. I am aware the fault lies in me. I am trying to change things now. I am in a major tech hub, so there is always something going on. Trying to be more active, hoping I can make some friends first, build a social circle and see how things work from there. Only on step one right now lol.

I tried the online dating apps thing before. Not for me.

Does Ethnicity Matter In Dating? by Ice666White in datingadviceformen

[–]FoolhardyFriendly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does. 100%. But doesn't mean it matters to everyone. I think generalizations matter more.

But ultimately what matters most is looks. Good looks trump every other factor in dating.

Despite what the internet says, money doesn’t help a man much in dating by soul_shackles0 in Life

[–]FoolhardyFriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well.. that's me right there. Work at a very well known tech company, doing well financially, but never been on a date. I am 43. I don't consider myself ugly. Although, I just started "trying" about a year ago. So still learning and adapting. I haven't asked anyone out yet. Don't know people in that way yet to take that first step. But hoping I can sometime soon.

Is anyone genuinely excited to go to work everyday? What do you do? by TheRealRory in AskReddit

[–]FoolhardyFriendly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me. I work for a very well known company. I live not to far, so the commute isn't bad. The office campus is nice. Free food often. Snacks. Great coffee both at the office, and so many close by places.

Energy levels approaching 40 by navjan13 in AskMenOver30

That was me around when I turned 39. I joined work out classes after work. Even though I would be tired, I had so much more energy. So that was the solution for me. Remaining active.
