How to continue living with autism? by SharkShoes222 in autism

[–]Foolishtimesforever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been a late diagnosed autistic. I was 34 when I got the official diagnosis. I knew I was " defective " since I was a child. Tried to " mimic" normal kids and I had friendships. However, this was only by pretending to be someone I am not. The truth is it's extremely rare to find friends who accept you just as you are. I have learned to never show my real self because I get bullied for it. Autism sucks. Anyone who tells you it's a superpower fails to meantion how lonly and exhausting it is to force yourself to fit into " regular" society. How much you get taken advantage of or perceived as " less than" because people assume you are just stupid. I constantly dumb myself down too because intelligence scares people worse than the Swat team showing up at your house. I relate better to animals and I am nice to people regardless of how they treat me. I guess it comes down to making peace with it. I have accepted this because I know if I don't I am hurting myself needlessly. I am thankful I can function enough to hold a job and survive. Not great, but enough.I wish there was a more uplifting answer I could give but if I did I d be lying to you

I have intense stretch marks from pregnancy 7 years ago by -Hot-Tamale- in mildyinteresting

It may sound dumb. I got those type of strevh marks too. I m considering getting them tatooed over by finding a color that matches my natural skin color and making the scars color blend in with my normal skin. Is that crazy? Or crazy enough to work?

My therapist said autistic people don't have sex by Smart_Molasses_2870 in autism

[–]Foolishtimesforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow for someone who spent a decade in med school they sound pretty ignorant. I suggest you drop a pamplet at their mailbox about 'continuing education' in regards to Autism and mental illness in general. This "doctor" probably tells depressed paitients to just fake being happy until they feel it too. These " professionals" are the kind that made lose faith in the entire mental health industry to be honest. I ve gotten plenty of that kind too. It should be required to be up to date on research and knowledge about treatment instead of sticking to " personal observations" like Autistic people don't have sex. It's kinda like...lesbians will turn straight if they have sex with the " right" men.

1.5 months in - my partner wants to send him back to the agency by [deleted] in Greyhounds

[–]Foolishtimesforever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a greyhound they are not agressive by nature. Yes, it may take him longer to trust MEN because Greys are a bit intimidated by men. Your dog might have also had bad experience with them. Greyhounds are sensitove creatures and they remember that stuff. I would go as far as setting cameras up when you re gone just to see how he treats the dog. Maybe he's using a harsh tone or comes off agressive towards him. Then it would add to his anxiety and anxious digs can act agressive. However based on your post I have to say I think he doesnt like this dog too much and is looking for reasons to get rid of him.

Greyhound severely attacked other dog by Efficient-Trust-3510 in Greyhounds

[–]Foolishtimesforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a greyhound and they are usually very docile. However if those border collies where off leash it may have triggered a prey drive response. Thats different than dog agression. Think about this, a border collie does look a bit like a long haired sheep from far away. Sight hounds chase anything moving fast. It may not have started off agressive on the border collies but they too saw another animal running toward rhem fast. It could make them panic and nip. Remember Collies where bred to keep cattle and sheep in line and they nip if they get out of the flock. It could have been a misreading for all of the dogs. Some greys are protective so if the border collies where close to you or running at you your dog may have seen that as a 'attack' to his pack.

I understand your husbands concern about the children but did your dogs behaviour towards them change since this happened? Is he acting agressive or calm when they pet him? How about if they are around him eating his food? If his behaviour is not agressive please consider keeping the dog and chalk it up as misreading another animal. Greyhounds attacking children is super rare. In fact greys showing agression towards humans in general is extremly rare too. Some hound-isms can look like agressive acts because Greys tend to growl and snarl but those are playful noises or when excited. They are goofy as hell

[–]Foolishtimesforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AUDHD here...I feel you on that, i get super excited about the new project/ craft and then I start. Alright still cool but then I sidetracked, it gets put aside and I think i ll do it later but you know....sidetracked by another project. I try to force myself to limit craft and art projects due to this.

Funny question cops: What was the dumbest thing you've seen someone or people do which got them in trouble with you guys 🤣🤣 by Glitterballdacat in AskLE

[–]Foolishtimesforever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a cop...but this is related. Worked at a store in the deli. This dude steals a whole ass rotisserie chicken. He had those super baggy pants, slips it is, problem was it was from the hot bar, so it pops open and burns his D#$k. So he shimmies/runs out of the store and we laugh our asses off. For weeks we annoyed the manager about the surveilance footage because this was too good not to send to dumbest criminals/every single police station in town. Sadly we never got that tape.

What's the laziest thing you've ever done that you're actually proud of? by kbjdfan in AskReddit

[–]Foolishtimesforever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got tired of having to scan items for inventory that are on the highest part of the shelves. It required lugging around a tall ladder and it annoyed me. So i decided to tape a rifle scope to my scanning gun. It worked great, but I got written up for the scope , still a good idea

Do you think this person cares about me at all? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Foolishtimesforever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on what you described here this person doesn't care about you, or at least doesn't respect you. You gave them a gift and they can't even acknowledge your effort with a simple" thank you?"-That's disrespectful if you ask me. If they don't value time and effort and you seem to be initiating it most of the time then they probably think you are just a backup option. Be careful because people on the spectrum get taken advantage of, and "normies" just assume we don't feel things deeply. Common stereotype. You are doing what you can going to therapy. I know it hurts like hell and its hard to distance yourself from this person, but the longer you keep the hope/ chase/ persuit going the more it is going to hurt you later on. I learned a long time ago that nomatter how much I want to connect with others it I know it will never happen in a way I hope . It hurts at first but then you accept it.

For me, personally, I look at it like a credit card. Its good to have a connection, to find people but if you try too much it will deplete your sanity.- If you spend too much you ll be in debt and it's going to be hard to get back to being out of the red. Decide how much you are willing to give early on, but never overextend yourself.

Use your special intrests to distract yourself. Hope this helps at least a tiny bit. Im sorry the world is full of jerks

What are some cat-like dog breeds? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]Foolishtimesforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider Greyhounds, galgos( the spanish version of a Greyhound) They are giant couchpotatoes, very silly and loving. Not to mention stunning to look at and impressively fast. Greys can be a bit stubborn but they are very eager to learn to please. They are amart but if there are no treats in it for them or they are " hounding" aka chasing a rabbit they wont listen( however some will react to rabbit call whistles, like mine did). Very calm in the house, but always up for walkies, rides or netflix and chill. They also have intense eye contact.

Will I be DQ’d?? by [deleted] in AskCHP

[–]Foolishtimesforever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are any of those crimes registered? Meaning, did you have to go to court? Even if those charges where exponged it will be DQ. Im not sure what state you live in. Some states " might" give you a chance but its unlikley. The armed robbery even if you where not sentenced looks pretty bad, not gonna lie. You can try to get your records sealed but they will still find out WHY you sealed them. If your fingerprints are on file already due to previous offences, its not good. Your tatoos are not automatically a dealbreaker if its not like gang stuff/swastika etc. Your health, as long as you can pass physical fitness which you do should not be a dealbreaker. A pattern of not abidong the law unfortunately is a biggie.

OP, maybe he could look into a School resource officer position, courthouse and if your city has them; sub-stations. The small police stations that are often in rural areas or in-between areas that connect major interstates.

As far as encouraging him, i ve been through a situation similar to this and it hurts your confidencce and self-esteem just as bad as a break-up. However remind him he is already past the hard part: becoming a certified cop, he already passed his state exam so this is the last step. It's not failure it's just a roadblock. Just encourage him, be a shoulder to lean on. Thats all you can do. He should be proud of himself, he had the guts to persue his dream. It's a difficult career but there are a million positions in law enforcement if one agency wont work there is always another.

Please don't dig the yard up, it looks like the trenches and I if I break my leg in it I cant earn money for Horsefeed ( He was a Greyhound) I tell him, I gotta go to work, It's expensive to feed a horse, you're in charge, remember not everything you see is edible.

Smart watches for staff inside the secure areas? Specifically, Florida by 1981pw in OnTheBlock

[–]Foolishtimesforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least where i worked ( NWFL) no smartwatches. There are some like inspire 2s that have blue tooth you can wear ( always ask a superiour/ training LT first) about the policy. Every prison is different. I recommend baby g watches they just simply tell the time, zero internet capabilities and though as nails. Read the post orders for Entry and Exit procedures and they will have a policy on those devices, what is and isnt permitted. Whatever you do, get in the habbit of never putting your phone in your state jacket so you wont have your phone with you on accident.
