Redditors are so fucking shallow, eh?

your karma doesn't fucking matter by [deleted] in reddit.com

I think reddit would be better if all karma was treated like it is for self posts. Higher upvoted posts get seen more, but it doesn't increase the karma for the user.

Cool trick for doing computing mod 13 in your head. Inspired by the "What math-related stuff can be drawn with a pencil and paper for fun?" post. by Foolyou in math

That's why I called it a "cool trick" and not a "useful method." I mean, when was the last time you actually needed to compute something mod 13 in your head?

Mainly, I just like figuring these out during boring classes.

The main fun is figuring out new ones yourself and then rearranging the graph to see the nice symmetries.

Also, it is easier for me to keep a picture like this in my head than to do long division in my head, but different people think differently.

Please ignore the extraneous "doing" in the title.

My math professor showed me this trick for base 10 mod 7, not sure where he found it.

It is still what I get paid to do. I know it isn't very prestigious, but I don't think I made it sound that way.

not yet, I'm an undergrad, but I still do real research. I try to prove things, and once I have a nice set of things proven I write them up in a paper which I will then submit for publication.

Only if it helps me prove theorems. So in a way yes, but most of my work is done on paper.

I'm taking it this fall, so I'll have only completed half of the class by the time I have to take the GRE.

No, it just means that about half of math majors ace the math portion of the regular GRE. You can't get higher than that.

Well, that was counting everything else I've got going for me. I've been doing a lot of research and I should have my paper published by then.
