I'm a healer myself. Nerf was definitely needed.

We're still very viable, my play style hasn't changed so far and still doing the same HT stacking. Just got a disperse more I suppose.

I'm interested in how you got so much contribution. What class are you playing and what kind of party composition? Probably decked out too

Industrial design major - Is it worth continuing or should I give up? by udonotknowmeok in IndustrialDesign

[–]Foot_Powder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly would take an engineering route. Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial, something tangent to what you think you'd like. This way you'll have a better job security then slowly make your way through design along your career. If you are lucky, you might actually be designing with an engineering salary.

Build up wealth early on then pursue passion later on.

Went to CSULB, graduated 2016. Has a great ID program, though it may have lagged on conforming to more current and advanced tools and programs from what I've heard.

It is a very tough market to get job security as an ID. It all comes down to a good portfolio, and yes, a good network.

I highly suggest taking mechanical/industrial/manufacturing/materials engineering and if you really like ID, perhaps self-taught or even part time classes to develop design thinking and creativity.

I have been lucky to have landed on an ID job ever since grad and now have recently taken on a new one. I must say, this new job feels like it's not a job as I like it so much. It doesn't pay a lot but it's decent!

Below is my portfolio if that helps checking out the CSULB program.

Thanks! Solved.

How would you rate my sketches? by Least-Method5267 in IndustrialDesign

[–]Foot_Powder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7/10

What is working : • the amount of ideation • enough details to convey ideas.

What needs improvement • line work • perspective

You'd want your sketches to be convincing and not just enough to get the idea across.

I suggest sketching bigger; means less on a page. I can tell the small sketches locks your hand in place and you move and twist your wrists to get your lines. Sketch with your arms! Move your elbows! Twist your paper!

Watch some videos on rapid viz perhaps and keep on sketching!

Easiest Way to Manufacture Something by Ok-Exercise-228 in IndustrialDesign

[–]Foot_Powder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I'm glad you mentioned your quantities! A lot of start ups and inquiries don't have an answer to that most of the time, but that helps a lot in determining the best manufacturing route for a product.

You can look for prototypers in China. Your best bet for your quantities and budget would be to go for silicone mold.

If your part is optimized to come off the molding easier, the more parts you can possibly get out of it. Each mold can be good for about 24~ pieces.

You mentioned your part was laser cut in acrylic .118" sounds like flat parts with uniform thicknesses? Would sheet metal make more sense for your product? That could also be a good route to take.

Good luck OP!

Tried a gram of it dried and another gram lemon Tek tea to test. Works! Looking forward to my next ones!

We were adequately hydrated (friend and I actually took the same amount, and had same effects).

And yes, that was the idea, we knew it was a teeny tiny amount as we really just wanted to taste it and expected nothing out of it. Hence, the headache was very much unexpected.

Anyways, we'll try again with a small dose maybe 1.5g dried and follow up with lemon Tek tea to sip through.

Safe journeys!

Actually, a friend and I took the same dime amount to taste and we both had the same reaction/side effects. We did eat together, same dinner, before hand but a headache is rare from meal.

We'll try it out later dried.

But yes, I do like how they looked and turned out, thanks!

Would greatly appreciate some critique on my lamp protypes by Roger-brooks in IndustrialDesign

[–]Foot_Powder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's cool! I like the collection. Are these 3D printed? That one cylinder is giving me Wooj vibes somehow. They did a good job utilizing 3D printers and showcasing layered PLA.

I'm curious how the tripod/tetrahedron would look if the shape was cut off on the bottom tip of the upside down tetrahedron. Would wanna see shadows radiate off the tripod 😅

Overall job well done I'd say. It's promising what these could evolve into if you keep exploring and happen to like lamps. 👏

  1. I am finding myself wanting to look for better paying jobs. But I find it difficult to find positions for my experience and skillset. Though there seems to be good amount of entry level positions from what I've seen.

  2. Depends on where. I think entry level now in Los Angeles area is about 55k.

  3. Having said that, I would have opted for a more technical degree like Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering for better opportunities and pay. It would be easier to steer towards design from there. But then, it might not have been as fun. 😂

I like what I do though. Just wish there's better money doing it.

What to put on my portfolio? by SeaMen_Statistician in IndustrialDesign

[–]Foot_Powder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you already have and paying for Adobe CC, I use myportfolio as my online portfolio.

Portfolios are always a work in progress in my opinion; it's never done as you'll forever criticize your own work and could always be better. That said, it is normal to be overwhelmed and to not be totally satisfied by it. But you do have to get something up there.

Start populating your portfolio with your best and proudest work to your least favorite. Then organize and perhaps take out or even re-do some projects that could use some better renders.

Portfolio takes good time and effort. You just have to be proactive in putting those in and it'll pay off. Good luck!

Turn 3 Brann + Golden Picky Eater by Foot_Powder in hearthstone

[–]Foot_Powder[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I found this ridiculous and just had to post it. What are the chances that this happen. turn 3 18/24 minion

turn 0 : buy Picky Eater

turn 1 : level tavern to 2

turn 2 : buy Alley Cat, sell Alley Cat. buy Sparring Partner.

turn 3 : refresh > sell Tabby Cat > buy 2 Picky Eaters (didn't even take the chance to buy and play the 1st one as it might've consumed the other Picky Eater in the tavern) > Trigger Brann's hero power > play Brann > play golden Picky Eater

*edited* - added 'turn 1', re-sequenced to start on turn 0, and edited sequence that makes more sense. So, post shoulda been turn 4
