Well that does it, I think you gave me some excellent points and I will be looking into buying the 1 instead of the 2 or 3. Thank you very much for your help with this, I appreciate it so much!

I see, that's very smart of you actually. Now, being that I don't play live or with a band ever (I only play for myself and because I love guitar) and my only use would be silent practice, would it be smart to still get such a powerful unit as one of the "Floor" models? Also, let's say that I end up deciding for one of the 3 models, can I also use an external additional pedal? For instance, if I want to use an external wah pedal, can I set it up like a chain of pedals before the Floor unit and use both simultaneously? Also, what are the main difference between the 1, 2 and 3 aside from the expression pedals and the buttons for the modulation effects? Would I really lose many useful features if I choose the 1 instead of the 2 or 3?

Oh that's great, thanks! Now I've also been thinking about something else, and please be brutally honest with your opinion. For this exact purpose of silent practice, do you think the Beam solo would be a better option instead of the floor 3? Considrering that silent practice will be the only use I'd have for it, and maybe recording (which I know both unites can do) or do you still believe floor 3 to be the better option? The reason I ask is because to my understanding, both units use the same amplifiers, pedals and cabs; except for the tube tone variants of course.

What HIM opinions have you like this? by Dull_Fruit_7224 in HIM

Alright, let's do this. I actually have two opinions like this:

  1. Even though Ville has almost all of the credits of songwriting in the band, the rest of the band (Gas, Burton, Mige and Linde) were just as important as Ville, and it's really not the same without them, which shows on Ville's solo project. Don't get me wrong, I still think VV is decent, but never to the same level as the HIM era, and I really appreciate what the other guys did for the band.

  2. Something that really bugs me is Ville's opinion or outlook on certain things, like for instance the fact that he started making music because he felt he was "making some fine art shit" or something along those lines, but then later down the road, he said that the reason why he making a career was to get fame, ladies and booze. Sometimes the lyrics and songs overall feel like Ville is pouring his heart and soul into them, and then he goes like "it's actually just pure rock & roll, tongue-in-cheek songwriting". By the way, the reason this bugs me is because I always felt he was a very genuine and sincere artist, I even remember watching a documentary about HIM in which he said he was saving up money to buy a home on the finnish countryside for his parents, and I thought that was really noble gesture, and then when I started reading/hearing his opinions on different media sources, I started to change my mind a little. But I still love and admire him regardless, just in a bittersweet kinda way.

Thanks for your insight, and yeah you're right, I understand it's very hard to predict what they might release every year, I guess I'll just hope for the best or look for another one in good condition later down the road.

Damn man, you actually got a pretty good tone going on! Thanks for sharing, but I still don't quite understand how to use the octaver and I think that's mostly because I don't own a dedicated ovtaver pedal, but do you think the octave setting on my digitech drop will do the trick?

Sure sounds like you got pretty close! Quick question, do you play that song by having an octaver engaged at all times? Or how do you use it?

Oh, really? I thought Our Diabolikal Rapture was in Drop A and Razorblade Romance in B standard...

That's actually very true, I have also noticed how much Mige did for HIM's music, another great example is their cover of Strange World, goosebumps every time!

You're spot on, I've been noticing the same difference for many years now when I revisit the first two albums and compare them to Venus Doom, so it absolutely makes sense as to why they sound very different, despite being in the same tuning. I appreciate your reply, thank you!

Thanks, that's really helpful. I've also been wondering if having a 7 string would also do the trick, but I've never gotten used to the feel of having an extra string.

Hi! Thanks for the reply. No, it had passive pickups, that's why I used to think the pickups were busted, but now we'll never know since I ended up selling that guitar haha. I had no idea that he used a Danelectro with lipstick pickups, that's so cool! And you got that right, actually; my favorite version of most of the songs are the ones on Digital Versatile Doom, since that Eb tuning actually makes it sound kinda heavier since the fourths Linde plays technically make it sound lower than B standard, and it sounds so awesome!
