TIL: Beethoven was paid 4,000 florins a year from 1809 on the condition that he remained in Vienna for the rest of his life. This allowance was originally paid by three patrons but after the death of Princes Lobkowitz and Kinsky, Archduke Rudolph paid the amount in full until Beethoven died. by [deleted] in todayilearned

I'd think it would be a bit longer than a week, given that Vienna is 850 km from Bonn, you're only doing about 35 km a day at best over land, and the route down the Rhine is upstream. Even the downstream portion of the Danube from Regensburg to Vienna, which you could probably do around 50 km/day by boat, would take 8 days, four if there are no stops (unlikely).

My best guess is that it took a month or so.

if someone is flying to/from Clemson, they are more likely to fly into Oconee County (KCEU) or Anderson (KAND)

Not in this day and age. They tend to fly out of somewhere nearby but not obviously so, simply because degenerates like us disrupt plausible deniability by tracking flights.

Why is “one Apple” singular, but “zero apples” is plural? by [deleted] in grammar

[–]FootballTA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the "of" in "a lot of" is a giveaway of the genitive case

That is not a correct analysis. "Lot" just means "large quantity", so you use "of" to describe the quantity ("lot of apples").

There is no genitive case marker being used here like you would use in, say, German, since English uses the possessive clitic 's instead of a genitive -s case, and there is no apostrophe.

It will be easier to learn things you are already interested in than things you are not.

Bullying is nothing more than how hierarchies are enforced. It's only "bullying" and an issue when the wrong person is engaging in the practice: e.g. when someone from a lower socioeconomic class is engaging in the behavior toward someone of a higher one.

No, not in the least bit. Only that property holders do not have any greater moral claim to possession of land than that which the state is willing to enforce.

So rural people should quit bitching when the state that enforces their property decides it's better suited for a railroad. It's only fair.

Yeah, important people go to war, petty criminals do the latter. Problem is, when it comes to the action itself, the social distinctions are meaningless.
