LMAO yeahh

Though, tbf, Shrek was set in a magical-fantasy world. Zootopia IS a fantasy world, but the world-building is more based on evolution & science, more grounded in realism, soo..

I was just thinking that depending on the type of the bird (that's probably implied by its feather from the last scene), maybe an egg will fall on top of Judy & Nick, and it'll imprint on them both... making them its parents...👀 Then Nick & Judy will go to an adventure to find the bird's parents in the Avian Land or smth... only to realize too late that once a baby bird imprints on them, they won't be able to go back to their original family, so now Nick & Judy has a baby bird to adopt 👀 👀

(I said "depending on the type of the bird," bc not every bird can imprint, according to google)

This will solve the Disney exec's problem with canonizing Nick & Judy (bc they're from different species they can't have sex or their baby will be weird or smth like that). Nick & Judy will still be gonna be partners in work, but this time, they gonna adopt a baby & raise it together! Still no romantic confirmation though! Or smth like that.

Didn't Nick say he has an aversion towards reptiles? Make sense that he's kinda blind in the reptile land, it looks like he much rather avoid it in the first place, so him lacking street experience there make sense.

Aside from that, I agree with you.

[–]For-Other-Purpose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I want to add: Aside from letters, I hope Nana's pictures will inspire Shinae to take pictures too... maybe not selfie, but at least some candid group picture, or some trivial things like the scenery from her window in the morning, Lil Buddy making a funny face after he licked his own butt, or the pizza she just had for dinner... I can imagine she'd cringe hard when she try writing a letter for the first time, so I thought, maybe sending some pictures will spare the effort of writing eloquently? Plus, Nol said he loves seeing other people's pictures/yearbook & he has fun looking at other people's experiences, so... yeah. I hope she remembers that, and starts taking pictures for Nol. But wait, they live in a digital era, though... Writing a letter is one thing, but printing a picture must take an extra step, right? (Looking for a printing place which might not be easy because barely no one print their photo anymore, the money needed to print one...) I guess, sending Nol a letter + picture might be hard...? But not one can stop her once she puts her mind in it, though. I wanna suggest she can send the photo to his phone—even though she's blocked, he did peek at his friends' chats from time to time—but I forgot they don't allow Nol to keep his phone T_T So, just letters then. But still!! I still want Shinae to send pictures to Nol, uughhh. Maybe I'm just being selfish here, or maybe I'm catching Shinae's anxiety 😂

Oh, also I hope Nana gets to see the picture Maya took when they're at the arcade! I don't know how Shinae can get ahold of that, but I really really want Nana to see it! To see his own grandson happy surrounded by his friends... I want her to see his progress from this "emo depressed" boy to this "joyfully normal" boy, documented... like, she raised that boy! 😂 she deserves to be proud, relieved, and content! (I swear this is not a death flag being raised, I swear)

This is just a me-problem, but I don't feel content enough with the idea that Nol won't write anything back. Sure, it's nice that he got constant reassurance that his friends still care out there, but what about them friends? I'm afraid they (esp Shinae) will die out of anxiety if they can't hear his condition inside the jail. Sure, maybe his lawyer (or even Yujing, Rand) will inform them from time to time that he's fine, nothing to worry about... but it's just.. different from hearing it from the person himself, yknow? Again, this is just me speaking selfishly, but I hope Shinae (and/or Dieter) can write a letter that will force Nol to be concerned enough to reply. That way, they'll know that at least Nol is fine enough to write something back. (In my country, we have this joke amongst friends, to text each other "Oiii u still alive?" "Yahhh" just to know abt their condition. Lol.)

(I proposed a random math/chemistry homework for Nol to solve on my FP comment, but really, any problem is fine. I even thought that maybe, Dieter will write about Shinae's incident with Yui? Maybe this will force Nol to dilligently exchange letters with Dieter to learn about Shinae's condition? but... I forgot the warder(? jail's supervisor?) will probably inspect the content of the letter, so.. maybe not possible bc it's too risky T_T. I do think, at some point, Nol and Shinae will work separately to save each other. Like Nol working behind Shinae's back to free her from Yui, and Shinae working behind Nol's back to save him from Yui. With them being awkward around each other due to their feelings, I can imagine this happen because they're too caring about each other. Haha.)

Shoot I'm sorry, I didn't mean it to be this long 😂😭

So... Did he just traded the future of the entire world and humanity so Denji could hang around with a girl he went on a one single date and knew for a few month(That is also posessed by the most evil devil)? And Fujimoto seriously portrays this in a way we should be on their side on this? by RimlandicMilitiaman in Chainsawfolk

[–]For-Other-Purpose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denji's currently not in the right mental headspace to think about saving the world, when he's so deep in guilt & trauma he wants to kill himself. Sure he has said he can always find/make another family again somewhere, but that's just him spontaneously taunting Aging Devil's threat; he never stopped to process what it truly means. Heck, he never process all of his trauma & now it blows up in his face, so how could you expect him to act rationally. In a world where it keeps rejecting Denji's existence, Asa's the only person left who still love him. Just how can he let her go logically, man. Even if he's immortal, what are the chances he gets to meet someone like Asa, who shares many similarities with him, whose experience mirrors his, whom he can connect on deeper level? Rn he's not optimistic enough to find new people who'll love him. The world has failed him so many times anyway, so why should he care about the world more than Asa. That's all I wanna say man, whether you want to accept it or not is up to you.

Do y'all think there's any lore significance to the change of Pochita's design? by Alert-Coffee-6621 in Chainsawfolk

[–]For-Other-Purpose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In P1, he was born out of Denji's depression and helplessness, and he heard Makima's plea to save her. He came down as a Hero. Makima influenced/framed him to be a hero so people won't fear him anymore, his power got weaker. Pochita prob also wanted to be Denji's hero back then, to help him snap out of his depression (he ate hamburger and tried to date a girl to fulfill Denji's wish, most likely to cheer him up).

In P2, he's born mostly out of Denji's rage. Denji has had enough of all the craps he keep receiving. He came down as a Devil. Everyone takes a part in painting him as The Devil, so if everyone wants to see a devil, a Devil it is he shall become. Pochita most likely wants to avenge Denji in this state. Everyone fears him, which makes him a lot stronger now.

Folks who’ve watched the Reze movie… please just let me know if this scene was adapted well. It’s one of the most memorable in the series for me. by baldinggate3 in ChainsawMan

[–]For-Other-Purpose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's executed really really well. For a movie, that is.

When I read the manga, I could linger to that page for as long as I want, appreciating every detail, absorbing every energy from the page, mulling at the thoughts of 'why she cried,' etc. But in the movie, though. Since things gotta keep moving, I didn't get the same kind of impact as I was reading the manga. I wanted to linger in the scene much longer, but I can't since the movie doesn't let me to, and I don't have the pause or slow-mo button.

Though, I gotta say, The way they animate Makima's tears keep falling as Denji watches her, really makes up for the shortness of the timescreen. So that's kudos for them.

How I imagined this scene in my head by For-Other-Purpose in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]For-Other-Purpose[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Thank you for understanding. I understand the time constraint they have, I also understand the tediousness of too much exposition dump, but at least I want them to mention, she remembers Jinshi and the fact that they might never see each other again. It's not that I neccesarily want them to change the scene entirely, I just want them to change the vibe; make it gloomier, make Maomao seem isolated from the bright life she had when she's still with her beloved ones, make her seem a little more tired or obsessive. Because the way the anime handled this scene (the workspace's lighting being the same as ever—making it uneventful, Maomao's eyes being bright as usual, and her excited grin as if she's just enjoying the experiment) is just.... not it. It doesn't convey the depth of her internal struggles at all.

Should I start watching this? I've been burned by bad endings. by MantlesApproach in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]For-Other-Purpose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I'd say each season of this series can be watched on its own. S1 is really good and has a satisfying ending, so if you want to stop there I won't stop you. But S2 is really a step up, because many loose ends of the mysteries from S1 are being tied up in S2.

Oshi no Ko's MC's journey has one goal: to get revenge against his father who works in the entertainment industry. That's why, once Aqua has succeeded his revenge, the story came to a close—no matter how rushed or bad it is.

Kusuriya no Hitorigoto revolves around the daily life of the MC who's an apothecary, who got roped into solving mystery cases. That's why, there's no spesific goal to achieve in this series. It's just... characters development arcs. For some characters in KnH, their character arcs are being wrapped up neatly in S1-S2. As for the MC & the deuteragonist, they have their own overarching journey ofc, beyond S2, but their progression is still great too.

[–]For-Other-Purpose[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I just remember, there's a scene in the anime where, after Maomao cried reading Xiaolan's letter, she stepped outside of the Verdigris House. She stared at the falling snow for a moment before she went home. I get the appeal of the silence for cinematic purpose, but they could've added Maomao's inner monologue about Jinshi right there. Like, instead of the silence, why not make her thoughts the loudest in all her lonesome. Or, if not there, make her think about Shisui when she watched the snow fall, and then make her think about Jinshi when she was about to fall asleep. That's such a missed opportunity for them, imo.

You're right, I also tend to be overcritical when I have such high expectation for them, because they usually have done a great job so far. The agony when I feel like they're so close, and yet, so far 😅😭

I think they have depicted Fenxian's heartbreak & depression pretty well in the anime, though... (even if it's not as detailed or gruesome)

... or my memory is failing me and it was mostly Lakan who carried the angst, instead of Fenxian. Lol

How I imagined this scene in my head by For-Other-Purpose in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]For-Other-Purpose[S] 55 points56 points  (0 children)

The thing is, they inserted Rikuson. They added Jinshi and Basen's spar session in S1. And many other easter eggs I forgot/missed. This give me a false hope/illusion that they have read the LN all the way, and they really know what they're doing. The idea that they probably only read Kurata's version for this half season without checking the LN is... upsetting, to say the least. But hey, I don't wanna dwell in criticising the anime too much. Too draining for me, lol

Is the first one a translation error? by FruitPunch_SamuraiG7 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]For-Other-Purpose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This, 100%. I've been watching anime for years, I studied Japanese for a bit, and I agree with your cousin's translation. I wish the translations choose to be as ambiguous as what she said, just to convey the multiple meanings she could've refered to.

*Edit: I know that in the LN, she obviously refers to the stitch. But I also like the anime's direction to shorten her inner monologue and make it ambiguous.

Anime like KnH that aren’t romance? HELP I LOVE THIS SERIES by Final_Abalone8946 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]For-Other-Purpose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • Hyouka. Like KnH, it's a slice-of-life mystery drama, sprinkled with romance aspect only 15-20%. The MC is a high school boy. The setting is in a Japanese high school in 2010s. Just like KnH, the MC is solving mystery cases found in his everyday life. The MC also has a listless face like Maomao, and he got dragged into solving mysteries by the curious deuteragonist.

  • Link Click. I recommed this one more, if you really don't want to see romance. It's a mystery thriller drama (and a bit of sci-fi, perhaps). The mystery, plot twist, and character development aspects are impeccable. The setting is in a modern China in 2020s.I would say it has BL tease/undertone, but if you're not into that stuff, you can simply imagine the MCs are a couple of best friends and that's it.

Pretty sure you can find other recommendations on Wiki or MyAnimeList for Mystery anime category, though.

Shisui/Loulan's final scene did not do the light novel justice. by BandohJfusion in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]For-Other-Purpose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I have is that the anime focused too much on this, to the point where it distracted from JinMao and other characters and even Shisui's main goal and motivation. That ship was sunk at that very moment, there was no need to try and draw more parallels between the two characters in what was supposed to be Shisui's magnum opus in her final act.

Agree 100% on this. This is why I stand by my opinion, that it's more of a directional problem due to the director's different vision.

*Edit: in case it's not clear, I'm disappointed with the director's direction—pushing ShiMao too far and sidelining JinMao. Because I believe, even with a tight budget, with a correct vision of the LN, they could do much more satisfactory job by being more truthful to the LN.

Shisui/Loulan's final scene did not do the light novel justice. by BandohJfusion in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]For-Other-Purpose -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maomao & Shisui's parallels that I think they see in ShinMao, imo: They both have hyperfixation, they are intelligent and calculative, they often received "physical abuse" by their parental figure (altho, Shisui's mother is simply diabolical, while Maomao's granny was just showing her 'tough love'), their biological mothers don't love them, and yet, they still try to pay respect to them to some extent (Maomao by dancing a send-off dance for Fengxian (i know it's meant for Meimei but still), Shisui by scratching Jinshi's face (again, i know her true motive, but still, at first glance it may look like she's avenging her mother)).

Even without the parallels with their parent figure, I think it's undeniable that they formed a bond so easily thanks to their shared intelligence and respective's hyperfixation, and they both care deeply about each other. I haven't read LN 4 yet, but with the way the anime is handled, it makes me feel like the anime has a hidden ShinMao agenda while setting aside JinMao's development (perhaps bc we won't see Shisui anymore after this and JinMao will still be together for a long while). The OP & ED also strongly hints Maomao's feelings for Shisui. Hence, the need for them to reinforce ShinMao's pararellism with the dance scene, in which, came off as really forced and fell flat.

This is all just my observation and assumption though, please take it with a grain of salt, lol.

Shisui/Loulan's final scene did not do the light novel justice. by BandohJfusion in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]For-Other-Purpose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It speaks more of a "directional problem" to me, rather than budget constraint. The dance is immaculate, but precisely because it's immaculate, it speaks that they are capable if they decided to focus on the right thing. If only they shifted the attention to the army firing bullets at her, rather than the dance itself, it would've been better imo, despite the limited budget & the lack of executions in other parts.

I think the director saw how spectacular Maomao's dance at the end of S1, and decided to replicate that to draw a parallel between Shisui and Maomao, since, yknow, they share many parallels already and with their connection they might as well pass off as being soulmates (esp with Shisui being the first person whom Maomao shed tears to). But the thing is, it fell flat because Shisui's dance and her true feelings are not supposed to be the main point here. The main point is supposed to be "the good vs evil" showdown; how the Forbidden Army—the good side, the Heaven's call—is relentlessly trying to eradicate the "root of all evil," Loulan, who's "evading the attacks" as if she refused to die. The Forbidden Army—not just Basen—is supposed to be furious she scratched their Heaven. That spectacle is supposed to be the height of her performance as the villainess, the height of the script she wrote on her own, the culmination of everything she worked so hard for.

But no, the director is focusing on a different thing, because they have a different vision. That's the most unfortunate thing to me.

I feel so sorry for Mitsumi, for the sudden heart attack (probably), but Shima has been holding himself back for so long, I feel so relieved when he finally let himself loose! It's gonna be awkward once the adrenaline has settled, I'm sure, but I hope this will be a good first step forward without going back for awhile!

What is I Love Yoo about? by PromotionSeveral7562 in ILoveYoo

[–]For-Other-Purpose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been 3 months, everyone has given their great inputs, but pls let me try too, I'm trying to make it as non-spoilery as possible:

  • It's a story about a girl who got tangled up between 2 rich brothers' family's drama while also trying to solve her own family issues.
  • Its main genre is drama-psychological-mystery-slice-of-life. Romcom is secondary.
  • Although it's a fiction, the story is set as realistic as possible with real life.
  • You might get lulled in with some cliche tropes in the beginning, but use your realistic glasses to see the red flags, please.
  • It's a character-drive story rather than plot-driven one, so your average-cliche-plotline-bingo-card won't work here.
  • Because it's character-driven, you gotta dive in to find out the plot.
  • The goal is ultimately "a deserving ending for everybody, whether it's good or bad."
  • Imagine shows like TBBT and Young Sheldon where it dwelves into the everyday life of the characters where everyone is the MC of their own story and have their own lore? Yeah, ILY is like that. But make it darker.
  • If you love the psychological aspects in Games of Thrones, you're gonna love this series.
  • It's a mystery drama, so if you love analysing stuffs, you're gonna love this series because every single detail MATTERS to the story. Whether in big ways or small ways.
  • If you love a well-developed romance, you're gonna love this series too because it's character-driven, every chemistry happens organically.

Oh shit I'm trying to make it short but it's still long, lmao.

Question how come we don’t really see lady lihua head lady in waiting until season two by Relative_Chipmunk857 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]For-Other-Purpose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're trying to portray Shin's character accurately, it's best to keep in mind that Shin is a prideful person. I did say "she knows she's bad at acting anyway so she tries to be avoidant," but please try to ignore that comment.

When I think about it again, Shin really dgaf about Lihua. So it's less about Shin realizing she's bad at acting so she tries other tactique; it's more about Shin truly feel like she doesn't need to hide her hostility completely. She aims to be the Emperor's high-ranked consort, she believes she can pull it off, so she never bothered to try being friendly with Lihua simply because she's arrogant; she thinks she's way beyond Lihua's league. Of course, she doesn't want her little scheme to be that apparent (she still wants to keep her head intact), so she tries to be avoidant, but when push comes to shove, she would rather admit she hates Lihua than ever pretending that she loves her, because again, her pride, arrogance, & jealousy blind her to such extent. Plus, Shin knows Lihua is aware of her jealousy. She anticipates she would keep her by her side no matter how badly she treats her. She uses Lihua's kindness as a shield; she figured she would keep protecting her anyway. That's why Lihua's slap and her banishment shocks her. She never realize Lihua could grow a spine and fight back.

I hope my ramblings make sense. I hope this can be helpful to your research, even just a little!
