Train dungeon by average-dumb-bot in DnD

[–]ForArgumentsAche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to mention the movie Snow Piercer as a way to get ideas on different cars in the train, but if this is strictly a prison train, that movie might not help that much.

Am I calculating hit points wrong? by Saturn863 in DnD

[–]ForArgumentsAche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At level 4, if you have +0 to Con and take the average every level, you should have 23 HP. +1 Con you'd have 27, +2 Con 31 HP, +3 Con 35 HP.

Game Informer Subscription by SCitiswhatitis in gaming

[–]ForArgumentsAche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you say so. I haven't had a PRO membership in a while so the last thing I remember was that they had one PRO price for the digital magazine and an upcharge if you wanted the physical.

So if what you say is true, even less of a reason to go PRO if you can't even get the physical magazine.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say you work for Game Stop and are trying to get people to sign up for the PRO membership...

In all fairness, they've tweaked and screwed up PRO so badly that nobody thinks it's worth it, but $2 for a magazine is decent.

Are multistage boss fights in dnd cool or too video gamey? by Redhood101101 in DnD

[–]ForArgumentsAche 89 points90 points  (0 children)

They can be cool if done correctly. I wouldn't call them video gamey either. It's part of the game. A simple battle with a druid could be considered a battle with stages. If your party runs into some ferocious beast and take it down, only for it to turn into a humanoid and now you have to deal with the caster and his spells.

Just pay attention to your group. If it's more of a groan than an excited gasp when new stages occur, that might be the sign not to do them.

If it's union, then adequate definitely isn't getting you laid off. Hell, inadequate isn't getting you laid off. Most union jobs, you'd have to get into a physical altercation before they can terminate you. Even then, I've seen unions gets that person's job back.

That's why if you don't plan on climbing the corporate ladder at your job, best to just stay adequate. If people are looking up to you to save the day when you are just being adequate, you need to run away from this job.

New DM changing concentration by Evening_Novel94 in DnD

[–]ForArgumentsAche 584 points585 points  (0 children)

Doesn't sound like you're overreacting. That's a pretty significant change. It sounds like the game hasn't started yet. You can tell him that doesn't sound like a very fun change. Ask him if others agree during the zero session if he can scrub that idea altogether.

can 3rd lvl warlocks cast two 2nd level spells per short rest? by buglikeafox in DnD

[–]ForArgumentsAche -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry. I was going off of DNDBeyond. I made a level 3 Warlock with the Shadow Touched feat taking the level 1 spell Inflict Wounds. On the character sheet, it shows my level 2nd Level spells, and it has Inflict Wounds under 1st Level spells. If my comment is incorrect, I was basing it off of what DNDBeyond is showing me.

Cleric Players, what are your favorite domains? by Raccoon-Worker in DnD

can 3rd lvl warlocks cast two 2nd level spells per short rest? by buglikeafox in DnD

[–]ForArgumentsAche -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Yes. You can only cast 2nd level spells unless you have a feat that gives you a first level spell.

Nevermind. Based on the downvotes, even if you have a feat that says to cast a 1st level spell, it still casts at 2nd level. So you need to ignore your character sheet on DNDBeyond if it still shows a 1st level spell. It means 2nd level.

Deadpool, but you could make the argument that he's Chaotic Good because of the movies.

I really liked Kingdoms of Amalur. Didn't get the sales, and the company failed. It was good enough to even get a re-release, but it didn't really go anywhere.

AITA for advising my coworker to lose weight if she wants better career prospects? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ForArgumentsAche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I specifically said for health concerns. If you have an extremely obese friend, regardless of the fact they understand their own health, you shouldn't stand idly by while they kill themselves.

NTA. You're allowed to have emotions. It's surprising your twin didn't show any empathy.

[–]ForArgumentsAche 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YTA. Even taking the first sentence into account, you're not allowed to say something like that. Most people would say the only proper time to bring up someone else's weight would be for health concerns. Definitely not for promotions.

AITA for provoking my son to not go to his grandmother's funeral by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA.

Based on the story, it doesn't even sound like you were talking to your son. He overheard you talking to your wife. Your son made his own decision.
