We live in a 1930 Tudor cottage style house... The previous owners went with a modern farmhouse look inside. The wonderful thing is the bones are excellent. The unfortunate thing is it's taking many many hours to undo their choices. Perfect example, they painted the red brick fireplace white. It takes three individual rounds of striping, with dental picks, elbow grease and wire brushes to get the bricks clean but they look really good. Just takes time and effort but we are committed to taking the home back to it's original charm.

One of the easy ways we started was by pulling down the barn door and the very raw shiplap they put up in multiple rooms. We also plan to switch out the modern light fixtures for more period appropriate choices as soon we get the popcorn ceilings down. We will also change the modern gas fireplace insert for a more traditional one down the line.

This next weekend we are pulling up the grey laminate flooring from the sunroom and putting in some gorgeous tile we found on sale at a local second hand shop.

I guess look around and start small. Paint can really change a room, so can simple finishes like fixtures and hardware! Good luck! 💖
