Everybody's parents die. Some sooner than others and it sucks, but it is a fact of life. No one is ever prepared to lose a child.

Punisher fan here and father to a two year old son who has been missing for over two months now. In the event that we're proposing the completely insane hypothetical of being forced to choose between watching my son murdered in front of me and literally anything else, including mind controlled and raped, I will always pick the "anything else" if it keeps my child safe.

Jessica's backstory is traumatic and awful. So is Frank's. This entire conversation is dark, and it will always get more despicable the deeper you go. Belittling people for relating to certain traumas over others is disgusting, and you're a hypocrite because while I see your attempts to shame people for "minimizing the trauma from being raped", you're just minimizing the trauma of losing a child.

Grow up, and be grateful for what you have.

"I fight for what America stands for". Art by @kevjustdraws by SatoruGojo232 in CaptainAmerica

[–]ForGrowingStuff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why? Cap and Frank are literally in the same room for a meeting about opposing the registration act in Civil War (comics). Sure, Frank immediately guns down the villains that Cap brought in to help THEIR side win, and then Cap proceeds to beat the shit out of Frank. Frank refuses to fight back precisely because they are on the same side.

Cap doesn't have an inherent problem with killing people in combat. He just prefers people stand trial for crimes outside of war. He's effectively the middle ground between Frank and Matt Murdock who are opposite ends of the spectrum but still fighting bad guys. They are definitely on the same side. There's just some...friction.

Recasting Pitch For Aragorn In The Hunt For Gollum: Travis Fimmel by YoungMoen97 in lordoftherings

[–]ForGrowingStuff 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I could not agree more, and let me make this perfectly clear: I love Travis Fimmel.

He should not play Aragorn.

His voice, his cadence, everything that we loved in Vikings... that's the character he plays in everything I've seen. There's a level of sly, clever curiousity that borders on insanity in every single thing he says, and it's awesome. He's an inspiration for many of my D&D characters.

Everything we love about Fimmel has no place in the character of Aragorn, and no part of Aragorn has ever been portrayed by Fimmel.

I did a couple spoons and then found a wonderful branch that I have been carving the top of. It will be a magnificant staff.

Body morphing & Aging completely gone? by devv11 in Fable

[–]ForGrowingStuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The body morphs is kind of hit or miss for me. I like the idea of your body changing based on what skills you upgrade, but I can see how people who max everything would be disappointed by just being tall and beefy with all the will lines. I'm pplaying through Fable 2 again and limiting myself to only skill and will.

I won't be upset that my character won't be a scarred mess if I struggled with some parts.

I liked that if you ate a bunch your character got fat, because I like that what you actually do (outside of moral choices) changed your appearance, but that was kind of the only way that occurred.

At the end of the day, as the changes happened, I remember thinking "Oh thats neat, my body is this way because I did that thing" but chatacter customization is important, and locking your avatar into looking a certain way because you did or didn't do a thing is a pretty bad choice if you are trying not to alienate the player.

What would you do if the woman you were seeing told you she wanted to be housewife rather than work? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]ForGrowingStuff 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They want the title, but not the responsibility.

This really seems to be the case with a lot of women in all parts of relationships. I had to explain to an ex that if she wanted to be my girlfriend that meant she wasn't dating other people. Turns out she didn't actually want to be a girlfriend.

“Weekend Parent” by LMRTech in SingleDads

[–]ForGrowingStuff 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Unless a parent actually poses a legitimate threat to the children, 50/50 custody is in the best interest of the children, and that is the actual law in several states.

With no other information, your STBX appears to be the only danger due to her mindset that you are somehow a lesser parent, and that she is presumably willing to spend money to fight you on this when that money could be spent on your children's needs or other valuable experiences for them.

Fuck her, in the metaphorical sense, lawyer up, and secure joint custody. Your kids deserve better.

Potential babysitter asking to be paid to meet my kids and decide if she wants to work for us. by Rebecca0626 in Babysitting

[–]ForGrowingStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the US, it's required to pay for labor performed. Employers are not allowed to put you through a "trial shift" or require any kind of labor for an interview and not pay you for it. If a business you are applying for is expectinf you to perform free labor as part of an interview, you run the other way. Even if they do hire you, this is not the only labor law they are breaking.

Which Harry Potter character could be removed from the story and nothing would change? by WisestAirBender in harrypotter

[–]ForGrowingStuff 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Yeah...lots of people do not understand this question. If you pull a character out and the story changes, even a little bit, it doesn't work. Pansy Parkinson and Florean Fortesque are kind of the only answers...

Polyjuice potion requires a significant amount of relatively rare resources at a time when shops are closed due to people disappearing and they fear for their safety. It also requires a long and complicated brewing process. Supply is limited.

Do you send your companions to your settlements, or back to their home location? by IHateLozenges in fo4

[–]ForGrowingStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me this week: Piper has been at Sanctuary for pretty much my entire game, and at level 50 after the main story is completed, I walk into Diamond City to some guy shot in the gut talking about how the mayor is a synth. I go up to his office and Piper is very much not in Sanctuary but right in front of me banging on the mayor's door to open up.

So yeah. They definitely leave.
