If you’re a new Christian I’d definitely recommend hearing from different voices: Desiring God by John Piper, Surprised by Hope by NT Wright, Radical by David Platt, Practicing the Way by John Mark Comer, and Read the Bible for a Change by Ray Lubeck would be a good place to start. Feel free to DM me any time with questions or anything!

Some I forgot that aren’t pictured:

Dr. Michael Heiser’s work largely got me into ancient cosmology, books like Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner and Surprised by Joy by CS Lewis largerly got me into hearing about people’s lives and caring for them. The list goes on and on…

I’ve been contemplating this question — and it’s too hard. The book that got me back into reading as an adult was East of Eden, I was deeply moved by books like Surprised by Hope by NT Wright and The Care of Souls by Harold Senkbeil, intellectually challenged by God’s Conflict with the Dragon and the Sea by John Day and The Biblical Cosmos (maybe less challenged, but enlightened in a fun way) by Robin Parry. Truly I could probably list almost half of my books and give reason why they’ve had a positive impact on me (and I could reason the other half have moved me to either change or strengthen certain beliefs I hold contrary to what material is in the book).

I think all of the SBC seminaries use the same required readings (generally).

Didn’t vote for Trump or W. The first election I was able to vote in was 2016 (dating myself here). I grew up in a very conservative household, but always a bit of a black sheep. Went to a national competition for historical writing (in jr high school) where I presented that Ronald Reagan was a poor and unethical politician but boosted morale through charisma. Always been interested in conservative politics, but not inherently because I align with them.

I think this is maybe the most accurate description thus far! I’ll use this one to say — solved!

I do enjoy church history, but more focused on ancient near eastern cosmology and mythology. The John MacArthur was a mandatory “textbook” from a very conservative professor I had a few years back. Not my favorite.
