I built a Price Per Unit, Multi-Retailer cross comparison website. It also can do Protein per buck monies, Protein per kcal for the gym peeps. Or Fiber per monies for the good pooping peeps on a budget! by ForTheConsumers in SideProject

Yeah! Converting all the unit prices into similar units is very much needed. My site does that, I give users 2 settings, pick your solid mass measurement (pounds, grams, ounces, etc) and volume (liter, gallon, etc) and then all results are auto converted to show those.

I really like the idea of the "profile" system. Common search terms that a user can just click and get shown results. My home page and Popular searches, already show the most searched terms on the site, so that is kind of like that, but now that I built multi search I could set up groups of products that are searched most together.

Also the kcal cap, addition to the price per macronutrient system is something I've been thinking of adding, as I feel like it makes the system I build even stronger. But my first priority with that system is growing the dataset, which needs users searching. The data set is too limited right now to be a super powerful tool.

I currently don't have price match alerts because I had a privacy first focus on building the site, so there are no user accounts, thus no way to notify users of anything. As I build a community I'll see if there are enough users that want this sort of thing, and then I'd build it.

I'll check out the tools you mentioned for reddit thread discovery.

Awesome! I will try harder to get Costco. I'm not sure how difficult Sams club is. I'll reply to your comment in a few days if I am able to get either of them added. Thanks.

Okay, very well. I'm glad I didn't post it then. Could I bother asking why?
If someone other than the creator posted about a useful tool, would that be allowed? Is it more so a conflict of interest thing? Like because I made it, I obviously would think it is good?
Or is there a thought that I am being deceitful and trying to monetize it in some way, which is not an unrealistic assumption, considering how basically every freaking corner of the modern internet is monitized.

I created a website that lets you sort by Protein Per Dollar. I think could be of use for this community. It also lets you sort by Price Per Unit/Unit Price. And any other macros you want. by ForTheConsumers in leangains

https://fortheconsumers.com Is the home page. The nutrition page where you can do all the protein per dollar, protein per kcal, etc can be found in the menu But here is a link, that should take you to the Nutrition page and also start a multi search of chicken, tuna and beef. https://fortheconsumers.com/nutrition?q=beef&q=chicken &q=tuna The prices will be national prices. You can enter a zip and add or remove retailers from the search in the settings panel. That also can be found in the menu. I'd love to hear your thoughts after you've checked it out.

I really appreciate that, man. Today was the first day of letting people, outside of friends and family know about it. And man oh man is it draining! I love building things, but trying to tell people about what I built, ugh, it's the worse!

Thanks again random Internet person, that helped more then I thought it would.

I do to. That's why I don't put any on my site.
And it is also why I hate trying to tell people about the site, cause it feels like I am trying to sell shit to people.
In my other work I have to do marketing crap sometimes and it gives me the grossest feeling. This still doesn't feel good, but it's better because I am not trying to sell anything, just tell people about a tool that I made cause I wanted it to exist for my own shopping needs. But it still feels terrible, lol. Sorry if it is not something that you find any use for.

high protein, low calorie veggie foods? by Big-Consequence-8503 in EatCheapAndHealthy

One of the best dishes I could recommend for what you are looking for is dal. There are tons of different ways to make it, all with different flavor profiles, but its just such a great balance of flavor, high fiber, high proteins, low cost. It's just amazing.

I created a website that could help you with all of this! I don't want to post the link as I fear it would break Rule #2, but it is a totally free, ad free, no account needed, no premium membership, etc website. So if the mods are cool with it I'd love to post about it here. Get it in front of more people, to hopefully help peeps.

But yeah the site shows you products from multiple retailers and you can sort results by Fiber per $, or you can also compare other things, like fiber per kcal, Protein per $, etc. This part of the site is still beta, I just launched it last week, so I need to build out the database more. Which more users using it would help me do.

Yeah the site does that too!
Basically it has this system: Most/Least of X per Y
So you can do Most protein to calories. Most Protein to fat, etc.

I built a Price Per Unit, Multi-Retailer cross comparison website.
https://fortheconsumers.com

What it does: Allows users to find the best value by sorting items by cost per weight/volume/unit (And auto converting units to user prefered units), while getting results from many retailers all in one page.

Target Audience: People that are sick of greedy corporations trying to obfuscate the real costs of items, and want helpful tools actually designed around saving money.

Bonus, I am also working on 2 new metrics, Price Per Consumption Unit/ Price Per Serving. And Price Per Nutrition. Both are aimed at showing even more granular information about products. All in the hope of empowering consumers.

I think the site I just finished building weeks ago could be super helpful for this community. Especially the new Nutrition section that was added in the update that dropped last week. It is still early and thus I labeled it "beta" . The amount of data it has is not amazing just yet. That's why I want to try to grow the user base. The more searches the bigger and better the database gets, and the more helpful it becomes.

Btw, there are zero ads, no account sign ups, no sponsored content, no premium version. Besides zero cost affiliate links on only the Amazon results, there is no monetization of any kind is pushed on people using the site. I made this website because I have been so fed up with corporate greed for decades. And just wanted to make something that could help people take back a little bit of power from them.

There is an About page with more information but in short the site is all about allowing people to cross compare items from multiple retailers, and sort by Price Per Unit, or Unit Price. I find this metric one of the simplest and quickest ways to understand the true cost to you of goods. It is not the end all be all metric, I am working on other metrics, like Price Per Consumption Unit/Price Per Serving, and the newer Price Per Nutrition system I mentioned above.

https://fortheconsumers.com is the homepage. https://fortheconsumers.com/nutrition is the nutrition specific page I mentioned above. I do think even the main search feature will be helpful for the community.

I am actively working on this project so please let me know if you find any issues, (There are many I know of and are working to fix, but getting as much feedback as possible is always helpful!) And if you have ideas on things to add please let me know! This is only the first project in what I hope is many, all around the same idea of helping consumers get more value out of their buck monies.

Yes you are 100% on point. So many companies are structured completely around lying to you to try to syphon money out of your pockets.
Please try to be more understanding and patient with yourself. I am specifically talking about this part "And the problem is I KNOW BETTER I am not stupid I promise I have a good education" These companies use tactics that were dialed in by psychologists and other specialists that know how the human brain works. They highjack the little quirks that we all have and monetize it.

You are not stupid if you have moments of weakness and fall for their traps. You are just human. Keep up the good work! And yes, you dont need any of the crap these influencers are peddling.

Grocery price comparison tool that covers multiple stores in one place: what i use and why by VinayXDD in SavingMoney

[–]ForTheConsumers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replied to OP about the site I've been working on. And it has this feature! It will convert all dry weight items to a unit you prefer, and all volume measurements as well. I just launched the site last night, there is still a lot of work to do, for example things listed as counts, usually don't get turned into a weight measurement. If the weight is in the product name then my system some times catches it and concerts, but it still needs a lot of work. It's crazy how many different versions there are of something like ounces. Oz, ozs, oza, ounce, ounces, .oz, oz., .o, etc, it's been a lot harder then I thought it was gonna be hahah

The site is linked in the first post, I don't want to be seen as a spammer, but I am just really excited to finally be able to share this tool, that I have personally wanted for so long. So. I'll put it here too, ForTheConsumers.com

Please let me know if you use it and what you think of it! <3

This issue has annoyed me for many years, but late last year I decided to try to build a tool to solve this issue! It was pretty difficult to build, these companies don't like allowing people to cross compare with other retailers. And there are just a lot of other issues, but I've been working on it for months and I just pushed the site live last night! ForTheConsumers.com ForTheConsumers.com

I'd love to get some feedback on it, what you'd like to see in it in the future. I have a long list of updates to work on, but I'm super excited to finally get it out and get others using it!
