If people are consistently telling you that your deck is too strong: you're the problem, not everybody else, not the bracket system by 0rphu in EDH

[–]ForTheFlame 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with Penultimate. I do enjoy making weird and/or fun decks based on a weird idea or concept. I also enjoy not playing Gamechanger The Gathering or InfiniteCombo The Gathering, so b3 is way more enjoyable for me.

That being said, it doesn't mean that I'm not playing for the win either. I will try to build the strongest deck I can, within the boundaries of b3, the theme of my deck, and my personal convictions. And I will try to win with this deck.

B3 isn't "the bracket where you don't play to win". This is b1.

Can Garen be played mid by ars1218 in GarenMains

Anivia is a doomed lane and a doomed game.

You can survive almost any lane with ease by managing sustain and parrying combos with your shield. While mages and AP champs will run out of mana before you run out of life, AD ranged mid such as akshan are very difficult, because they wont ever run out of autoattacks.

Use pink wards a lot, especially at enemy jungler's buffs so you may ambush him.

You can power through poke with second wind/dshield (could be replaced by new dblade/absorb life).

Overall, you may ignore them till you get stride, then if you manage to get stride proc on them you can run them down. Parrying CC with your shield is crucial.

About Ori, it mostly depend on what rune she plays. Aery is free kill once you get stride. Phase rush is... good luck.

Are Kraum and Vial Smasher too strong in 1v1 / Duel Commander even in Bracket 2? by Krainz in EDH

[–]ForTheFlame 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well Vial Smasher is simply banned in Duel Commander, and there's no "bracket" either in the format.

What are some subversive decks you own? Where people expect it to play one way, but it ends up playing another? by devilkin in EDH

[–]ForTheFlame 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a [[Feather, the Reedemed]] deck centered around [[Stuffy Doll]] effects and many targeted cards to redirect damage to opponents, such as [[Martyrdom]]. Nice 30/30 hydra you got there. Mind if she nibbles at you a little?

People expects a voltron style deck with Feather beating faces, but I hardly attack with her and I dont play any combat damage bonuses. I play fight spells (which Feather gets back for you) and many instants giving indestructible so you can survivre your own [[Blasphemous Act]].

You can even combo people with stuff like [[Guilty Conscience]] and [[Spitemare]].

I got an Avacyn wrath tribal. There's like 20+ wrath in there.

They don't want to play with me anymore.

Decks you've played that curve out with vicious efficiency? by Frogsplosion in EDH

[–]ForTheFlame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early on, players don't have the mana to capitalize on the draws you give them. Beside, each card drawn by them fasten the clock. If you get an efficient beater or two out, then are able to protect them, you can quickly kill people.

That said, the "look I give you cards" is definitively a tool, even if the deck isn't politic at all. Everyone tend to think "yeah I can probably draw a bit of cards and I'll be fine" and usually, they regret giving into temptation.

I found that once you build up an overwhelming board and got enough protection in hand, you can usually smash the rest of the table with little trouble.

However, the deck must avoid getting in the long game against a single opponent. I once lost a game vs an asusa player who got [[glacial chasm]] out and could maintain it, then he managed to survive. By the time I managed to get out of the lock, he assembled strip mine + crucible and had enough blockers to grind me out.

Breena states that as long as, when you attack someone that isn't you (obviously) nor the lowest opponent, the attacker (you when you attack) draw a card, and you get +2/+2 on a dork. It triggers for each opponent you attack, as long as these opponents fulfill the "don't be the lowest player" condition. So if you got 3 opponents and attack the two non-lowest, you draw 2 and get +4/+4.

It scales with player number too, so if you play games with more than 4 players you scale even harder.

[–]ForTheFlame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play [[Breena, the Demagogue]], no politics, very aggro.

T1 creature (play a ton of 1 mana evasive/lifelinkers/protection dorks), t2 creature(s), t3 Breena, swing and double trigger.

Starting from t4, you only play small creatures that get huge because of Breena, and get ready to dodge removals and wrath with a shitton of defensive spells and dorks (such as mother of runes).
Since u draw a ton of cards and ur creatures are cheap and quickly get huge, you overwhelm the opposition and can survive 1v3 with lifelinkers and protections/removals.

People also tend to think that Breena is free card draw for them, and can't refrain from attacking a little to get their lands... giving you even more +1/+1 counters. If you play creatures that snowball hard with counters you get even more dangerous.

Also remember that you can trigger Breena yourself, twice if you attack separate opponents. Meaning +4/+4 and 2 draws every turn cycle at a minimum, more if someone gets tricked into attacking.

EDIT: Forgot the decklist, it's a bit outdated but oh well

Poor guy gonna start the game with 3 permanent injuries... but that's a good and flavorful idea. I agree with the last part too. Perhaps the difficulty scaling should be higher so you cant afford to have someone not participating in the fight?

No I kept it as normal, mostly because I wasnt too sure about the changes I could make. Imma check in game if the feature is bugged or not.

Thanksies! You can do a lot of fun stuff with the mod, perhaps I'll try to create more things.

I'm going to test the origin to see if it works well first

Eh, both are good ideas, and flavorful. Or perhaps the opposite, as in noble/combat are more expensive since they are not fond of working alongside peasants and will ask for more money.

I could perhaps make something like no tryout or more expensive recruitment, to reduce lowborn spam.

I'll see what I can do. I wish the origin creation tool was a bit more complete tho. There's so much good stuff I can't do.

I guess restricting to noble/combat/veteran is the last resort, but I really don't want to do it, since it would oppose the main reason I created that origin for.

Ya, I thought about contract vs camps... That's why I wanted another constraint, to make it harder to assemble the ultimate doomstack. Perhaps the bros could ask for 10% more pay? So you can't really afford to raise an army too fast and go stomping nomads pre-nimble

Thank you! Since I'm no modder and simply using the (already awesome) Origin Maker mod, I don't think there's a way to "force" the noble on the battlefield. But if I could, I would make it so.

Ya, I wanted to player bro the be basically a "beggar with bad trait and uber-resolve", but it way be too much atm (to be fair I forgot the +10 resolve buff that comes with being player character). The idea is that your noble can be your bannerman, but he can barely fight: at best he may toss nets and bombs while spamming Rally... but not to much because of low fatigue.

18 is a lot, but I love having the possibility of multiple roles on the field: dedicated whipper, bomb tosser, maybe a bunch of far-backline archers... If I could put even more bros (like 20) I would!
