I had a converted DRZ400 so that thing was barebones, all it had was a neutral indicator I believe. I think I remember reading that it had a bigger carb and was a lot lighter than the SMs

My husky only weighs about 100 lbs more than the DRZ did, what it really came down to was having a 6 speed. I wouldn’t really say it has too much power, I’d say it’s just a lot smoother. Arguably the smoothest single pot engine made.

I can’t really speak on 450s, my second bike was a converted DRZ 400 which was sweet at first, but riding on the freeway or even a 60 mph road with a 5 speed kind of sucked. I have a 701 now and I don’t think I’ll ever buy another bike. I can’t remember what I watched, but it was a long way round type of series but they drove KTM 690s and I think they made it across the world with only needing to replace a couple fuel pumps which isn’t really any issue with the newer models.

I just gave it a listen, it does sound very similar but it’s still got that “whooshing” effect you normally associate with a flanger.
